  1. I throw primarily reaction baits that require very little feel to detect strikes in heavy rain. Light rain, I fish as I normally do.

  3. Pretty sure it works just fine. I use 4 and 6# Tatsu and InvisX on spinning. Here's a little 6# InvisX fish:

  5. The Jika rig was developed for vertically penetrating weeds. The slender weight leads the bait straight down. In most situations facing moderate weed cover, I use it over a traditional Texas rig.
  6. Nah. You should have said you were on a smart phone, lol.
  7. Click the Siebert Outdoors link to the right of the page.
  8. Nope, think razor blade and finesse.
  9. Yep! Open the side plate, and remove the spool. Feed the line through the level-wind and open side plate. Start your arbor knot, but don't wrap the spool yet. Keep the main knot a little loose, and leave a loop big enough to slip over the spool. Tie the last lock knot really close to the main knot. Wet the line well, slide over the spool, and gently tighten. Replace spool and side plate.
  10. Who is that masked man throwing those big baits?
  11. I'll barely let a cat out of the bag....... I had a conversation with Big-O, and he let on to the idea of cutting baits.... Do I have anyone thinking? Clue: drop shot.
  12. I wear sunblock, not sunscreen, and I do reapply. Along with generally wearing spf clothing. There's no getting around the tan.Like raider said, it's just genetics - I get dark. I'm not being vain, but if you met me in person, you would not believe my age. Incidentally, I actually have a Vitamin D deficiency. This is from a lack of sun. It's another recent trend, with everyone covering up, and staying out of the sun. I take 5000mg per day to keep my number up above 50. Doc says it should be around 70-80.
  13. Never had put mine in gear... Might be a motor specific thing. My 115 elpto was easy, four or five bolts. The Pro Max 2.5 Sport with a Torquemaster LU...there's a hidden bolt under the anode. Each motor has it's "thing," so find a video that shows your motor.
  14. Cool article! I wear sunblock all the time. I still get VERY tan. I'm also a very young looking 41 with very few wrinkles. I attribute this to my religious use of the stuff. But I still get dark. I'm half native American, though so that might make a difference. My back and chest do not see the light of day (haven't since I was a little kid) and they are milk white.
  15. I do my own. The only tricky part is rotating the fly wheel to align the keyed drive shaft when you put the the lower unit back in. It helps if you have a second pair of hands. There are a TON of videos on Youtube that show the process from soup to nuts.
  16. Give your line enough slack to keep it from swinging back at you. Fluoro helps, since it sinks.
  17. A lot of guys won't throw a jig from shore, but it's killer. A good grass jig goes a long way. Nice report/review.
  18. Interesting. Never really thought about putting something this wide on a skirted jig. Do you rig it flat or upright?
  19. Elite for spinning, and Siege for casting gear.
  20. Try a medium/fast rod as a compromise. The faster tip will help you detect the "bump" sooner, and allow you to react. Last bit of advice: sloooooow down. Good luck!
  21. Kind of like a heavy power version of a split shot rig, but with a wacky hook. I don't see why it wouldn't work. Try it, and report back. If it works that good, write an article for the site for all to learn: http://www.bassresource.com/fish/article_submission.html
  22. Use a good crankbait that "backs up" consistently on the pause. Use a slow retrieve, and when you feel the bait hit the weeds, stop reeling. Let it back up a second two, and then pop the tip a couple times. Repeat. It helps to use a more sensitive, moderate to mod-fast action rod.
  23. I like them rigged flat on a Jika Rig.
