  1. I have three setups for crankbait fishing: Revo sx on a 6'6" M/F cranking stick for shallow cranks. Revo sx on a 7' MH/F cranking stick for lipless cranks and anything from about 6-10 feet Revo winch on a shimano crucial 7'11" M crankbait rod for the deep stuff. The cranking sticks are composite fiberglass and graphite and a pretty good for the money. They don't transmit much when you get way down deep though.
  2. Anybody know this one: Yeah-yeah-yeah, well! Open your eyes and look within Are you satisfied with the life you're living? We know where we're going, We know where we're from. We're leaving Babylon, We're going to our Father land.
  3. I recently got a revo winch and really, really like it. One of the mods did a thread about swapping out the gears of a revo s with lower speed ones. That's an awesome option to save a bit of money.

  5. When I worked in ad/marketing, there was a creative director who instead of quitting, just stopped showing up one day. He checked to see how getting fired effected his contract with the company, and then just stopped coming to work. He used that time to find something else, and forced the company to either pay him the severance or keep him on payroll for doing nothing.
  6. Well, the outboard runs fine. I hope it didn't burn anything up also......
  7. Yeah, it was a poor attempt at sarcasm. I re-read it and said "this doesn't make sense." Here I'll try this, Yo-zuri is really great line. I caught a 30lb Flathead with 10lb test. I was really surprised that it only had some nicks in it and was able to land the large fish. I recommend yo-zuri line for a lot of applications and, based on this experience I can say that yo-zuri will probably exceed your expectations as well.

Flathead. I sent the photos to my email address and got the message but the picture wasn't attached? Anyone know how to get this d*** picture from my phone?

Biggest fish I've ever caught in my life. Deep cranking with a bandit 700 chartreuse splatterback. 10lb yo-zuri ultra soft and a revo winch. I fought it FORever. Had to chase it around with the trolling motor. I have two pics that are on my phone, if I can figure out how to get them from there to here, I'll post them soon.
  10. I did some deep cranking today to cap-off my fishing trip. Hooked a 30 lb flathead that I fought for 15-20 mintues. My 10# ultra soft had some nicks in it. Unbelievable.
  11. Well, The good news is that the whole thing is fixed. The bad news is that I'm an idiot. I had labeled the wires for the outboard as the wires for the trolling motor. The outboard was hooked up to a 24v series. The trolling motor was hooked up to one battery. Along with my graphs. Everything runs like a champ after a little re-labeling. Bring on the ribbing. I deserve it. "F"
  12. They are hooked in series.
  13. It's a 98 nitro. I hooked everything up today. 6 gauge throughout already. I did run into something else. When I engaged the motor, it seemed pretty sluggish, like it would if it were low on juice. I'm almost positive both batteries had a good charge. The only thing I can think of is either: low batteries and I just need to wait until they charge. I did re-use the 12/24 plug from the old motor. The negative wire stayed in place and the positive was switched from the 12v terminal to the 24v terminal. What else could be culprit?
  14. For the record. Not interested in a ford, sorry ford guys. I had a dodge ram. Nice truck, want soomething different. Had a GMC canyon. total crap. The gap between the sierra and the canyon is huge. The silverado and the sierra aren't exactly the same. Some differences. The tundras are stupid expensive. If you downgrade, basic things are absent (foglights for example). It's a tie between the tundra and the chevy. Exciting stuff! Keep posting.
  15. hmmm. Just got a call about a new sierra. It seems like the biggest problem is the options. I added that one for the masses. I like that the tundra has a HUGE crewmax cab. But for looks overall it's a push I think. What stickers domestic for 36k is 42k in the toyota. Same-same truck to, no real difference. The domestics have more bells and whistles for the money spent. what to do? I guess I could be in worse situations......
  16. That chart makes my face hurt from brow furrowing.
  17. Fellas, I'm getting another truck and was set on the tundra. I've seen some of the new silverados and think that those are nice also. I'm stuck. I have one or two do-able options in both of these classes for what I have to spend. If you have a good case for one or the other, please state. I like and dis-like things about both.
  18. Is the wire marked, or do I need to find a section of 6 and compare. I hear a lot that older boats (mine's a 98) had 10 gauge.
  19. I'll have to check what gauge my boat has. Thanks man.
  20. Why? What's the risk / reward?
  21. I know this horse is beaten but: I'm going to be putting a 24v minnkota where a 12v motorguide was. Do I need to re-wire the boat for a heavier gauge? I don't remember what the concrete information is on this subject.

I've kind of always deferred to this thread as a place to just say things. Most of what I put on here has to do with work, and often times there's stories about things that have happened. Even though this is a unique thread, and means different things to different people, I like that it can be a place for me to do that. With that said: Tonight my partner and I were assisting one of the other guys in our squad at the end of a car chase. A guy (who may have just committed some armed robberies, it's unclear at his time) had run for blocks, bailed out of his car and ran into some yards behind a row of houses to get away (pretty common practice). We were right there and were running through the yards to meet our friend and the bad guy who had started to fight. As my partner cleared a fence, a pit bull ran towards him. I hadn't gotten all the way over yet, and jumped back down to the ground. The dog jumped on my partner and started to attack him. We both drew down and shot the dog. Between us, we fired four times and it looks like we hit it three. My partner had a pretty good bite on his hand. The dog died. I did, and still do feel pretty bad. It was really a bummer having to tell these people that we had just killed their dog also. Didn't really have a whole lot of options. That's one of the last things we wanted to do. The dog was just doing his job. I can't blame the owners either. If I lived in their neighborhood, I'd have a giant pit bull also. :-/

whoa, whoa, whoa Are you saying that you respect hookem for those things? I ask because you burned TF for having his opinion, but praise Hookem for saying pretty much the same thing for the other team.
