  1. I am gonna have to find out this super secret buoy marker.
  2. Overall there is a lot of good advice in here. But I would like to point out a few things. First you will get stuck in a boat with a boater who does not want you in his boat some times. 1.) Do not take any grief from them, you are not in the boat to be thier errand boy. 2.) You are there to fish from the back. If you feel the boater has front ended you ask him about it, if you cant resolve it with him then go to the TD at the weigh in. 3.) Ask ahead of time if the boater wants help with the net, if so make sure to talk about how to net the fish. If he isnt netting your fish do not net his. 4.) Always offer some gas money, but if the boater is doing excessive running throughout the day do not feel as if it is your responsibility to pay for all the gas he burns. The boater does have more money invested in the tournament than you, but you have a right to be there fishing just like he does. Do not let him intimidate you or treat you wrong. It should be an enjoyable experience for both of you if you follow common courtesy.
  3. Thats mostly Giant Salvina (sp?) which is an extremly invasive species, it can grow up to 3 football fields worth in a month I have been told.
  4. Do not let other peoples prejudice affect what you want to do. BASS is still a respectable organization that has done wonders for the fishing industry. Has BASS made mistakes? yes. Is FLW the messiah of fishing? no. I am a member of both organizations and it hasnt hurt me any as far as I can tell. I would love to have a BASS lifetime member ship and will be buying one sometime. If you have never attended a Bassmaster Classic I would reccomend that you go to one it is an awesome experience.
  5. Some pics posted of the pendleton bridge, posted by kestrel63 with shockwave rods. That is some crazy giant salvinia being flushed down the lake by the water being released!!
  6. Wow wish I were at home!! I would sure be tempted to go!
  7. I stayed in one of thier rooms this weekend and let me tell you they are nice rooms, and will not break the bank. Top notch facilities as well, there is a courtesy dock near the ramp. There are some new boat stalls close to the restaraunt and the front office has a decent selection of tackle.
  8. Check out the Texas Bass federation web site they have a club locator that will help you find some.
  9. $30-$35 I believe, and I like mine!
  10. Nitro! I also have a HB 997 SI unit on there as well, and that thing is awesome!! This is a view of a sunken bridge, look how much detail you can see on that, look at the creek bed, see the stick ups and lay downs around it? Anyway I hijacked this guys thread
  11. I heard that the PAA they had the other day at Fin N feather was a big success. I know they dont have much for parking there but thier facilities are very nice. Hopefuly some of the bigger tournaments will start coming back to the lake, which will boost the local economy a lot. Which should entice some of the other marina's to update thier facilites to draw in business. I thought that the last year or two they hadnt been letting the lake get as low as before. I can remember some years when the lake was down 10 feet, that kills off a lot of the shallower hydrilla beds, so I was thinking more stable water levels would equate to better fishing.
  12. Zapata is the only town on the lake with hotel/motel rooms. Well there are a few others, but just do yourself a favor and stay in Zapata. Security issues will be avoided by doing that. There are several boat ramps you need to avoid also. Laredo is 50 miles up river or Roma is down below. Stay out of Roma. Guides: Charlie Haralson 956 744-6235 Cell 956 791-0728 Home Charlie will answer his phone while fishing. The last time I called him he was on the water fishing Sugar Lake across the border in Mexico. Speedy Collette 956 236-9717 Call Falcon Lake Tackle and they will put you in contact with many more. Personally, if you go prepared you should not need a guide. December-February is spawning time. Carry bug spray and something to cut through the brush(If the water is up) and enjoy. I never fish the Mexico side either. There is plenty of water to fish on the Texas side. You can go to: www.falconlaketackle.com and get all the info you will need. Don't read alot about the safety issues in this post either. If you use your head you will be fine. Jack Jack, if you head down to one of those again and need a partner gimme a hollar lol I been wanting to hit one of those lakes up.
  13. Stop off and eat at the Stump off 255 good food there, and there is usualy some other anglers you can ask about the fishing with.
  14. I was out last week just running the boat and noticed a few buoys were off quite a bit so watch out..
  15. The big girls are still in shallow water caught this in 2 foot yesterday and its my new personal best at 7.87
  16. I should be there!!!!!
  17. We wen out on TBend near the Gains boat lane area and were catching fish in 4-6 foot of water on wacky worms, senko's and Brush hog's. The topwater bite was slow and didnt pick up any fish but did get a few strikes on it. Fish were between 1-5lbs so you can pick some good ones up shallow just have to fish slow around cover.
  18. I fished around 5 fingers, and lucas we caught a total of 30 something fish over 3 days but nothing over 2.5 we were fishing grass lines I guess thats where all the little ones were, I keep hearing about people catching the biggers ones in 14-18 foot. For the Tbend McDonalds I will be fishing around the midlake area probably.
  19. Mine can do either on a timer. Mostl I fill my livewell and then put it on auto recirculate, then after a few hours I will change out the water.
  20. I will have to swing by sometime and say hello. I should be out on Rayburn Monday-thursday every day leading up to it.
  21. will do.
  22. KVD, Skeet, Ike, Roland, Jones, fish from a big bass boat.... you must have missed the sarcasm there.
  23. Yeah those guys with big bass boats suck and cant fish.
  24. I remember it being called that a long time a go, but never knew why.
  25. I read that you will be fishing in the Alpine area this weekend, I will be home friday night maybe I can catch up with you Saturday some time.
