  5. The garden pest.
  6. Nice bass. Just for reference by buddy caught this bass & I measured it as 27" long with a 17.5" girth. It weighed 8lb-8ozs on a boga & a digital scale.
  7. Like mentioned above if you are near shore beach the boat then beach the musky. You can also grab a fish that is played out under the chin where the gill plate attaches tucking your four fingers under the gill plate while your thumb slides up the V under his snout. You can also land one using a boga grip by grabbing his lower jaw. A cradle takes two people to land a big fish. Only other option is to carry a big net.
  8. Almost all boats have torque steer to the right under acceleration. If you're a big guy & the only one in the boat your weight contributes to the problem. Try lining the nose of the boat up & then steering a little left as you accelerate towards the bow roller. Practice a few times when the ramp isn't busy to see if that helps. You will have to steer left of center to compensate for the pull to the right. Hope that helps.
  9. Go with the 12lb big game. The dia of big game is already on the high side for line diameter and the lines breaks at a much higher poundage than it is listed as. If you were deciding between a line that is smaller in dia that actually broke at the listed poundage I would suggest 15lb.
  10. Cavs sweep again. They are looking sharper as the playoffs continue.
  11. Waiting on a fishable spring.
  12. A nice day on the big water.
  13. Congrats on a great build & a great cause. Nice job Josh.
  14. Older anglers are less likely to count numbers without clarifying a minimum size to keep track of simply because they have already experienced number successes. I have kept a running total by year of smallies caught in my boat but only of 5 lbers & larger. But I don't care if someone else wants to keep count of all fish caught if that is what motivates you. I have always said I will fish all day long for one trophy but my most frequent fishing buddy has always valued quantity as well as quality because he wants both.
  15. A few suggestions. Take a deep breath before launching & try to relax. Pull forward far enough that the trailer is straight behind you & linedup with the ramp. Learn to back up JUST using your mirrors & go slow until you get comfortable with backing. You will be a pro in short order.
  16. Welcome to BR. Reach out to the guys in your area on the SE section for help.
  17. Welcome to BR Scott.
  18. Welcome to BR Tony and thank you for your service.
  19. Cool video. I really liked the drone shots giving an aerial view of the water & boat. You're right about the girlfriend being a keeper.
  20. The only ones I count are the big ones which makes it easier on my aging mind.
  21. I have caught enough pike to form my own opinions but this study confirms it. I have also caught a lot of smallmouth that after hooking them successfully dived to the bottom and tried to rub the bait out against the rocks. The proof of that is the frayed leader at the snap that wasn't frayed before hooking up. Also snagging up after the bass dives to the bottom. Smallies seem to either get rid of a bait by repeated jumps or bottom diving.
  22. Looks like you had a great first trip.
