  1. Good thing he wasn't entered in the State to State contest, right Speed?
  2. Not a bad day Mike. You & Leo have it dialed in.
  3. Got to love those spro frog fish. Nice one.
  4. My best day smallie fishing for quality fish was pre spawn on lake erie in April about 4-5 years ago. I found a pocket of good fish & I kept drifting over them using jerkbaits. Dead sticked one rod & worked the other. I was fishing by myself mid week without any other boats around. Had numerous big fives & three over six lbs with the biggest at 6.75bs. Hooked a good fish & she came up and jumped right away. When I saw her the first time I knew she was a big smallie. She proceeded to jump time after time time as i worked her closer to the boat. As i remember she jumped about 11 or 12 times. The last jump was close to the boat & I knew she was a heavy six or 7lber maybe. Any how she threw the bait back at me on the last jump & then I knew I blew it. I was into such good quality fish I did not strive to keep her from jumping. I was a little too cavalier with my approach. I think I had between 11 or 12 fish that day with the smallest over 4lbs. I never added it up but I think I had over 30lbs with my best five fish. If I had landed that big fish I was probably over 32-33lbs for the best five. A very fun day by myself.
  5. You have a very diverse fishery in your back yard. Welcome to BR.
  6. I have caught a few walleye before Jeff. Thank goodness mother lake erie can offer up a diversion when the smallies are not cooperating. Andy it was a pleasure as always. Tough conditions but we made the best of it.
  7. Like a jerkbait, but aggressively.
  8. I have a two piece noodle rod for 4lb test to use for smallies in open water. It's a gas.
  9. First trip of the year I hooked a good size lake trout & realized I had forgotten my net. Ran 15 miles while in Canada to our starting spot & realized the guy loading the boat forgot my tackle bag with all our baits. Got to the dock to launch the boat & remembered I left my license on the night stand in the bedroom. Four hours into fishing watched my dog lifting his leg on the bow & realized my buddy who parked the trailer forgot to get the dog to pee before getting on the boat. And the list goes on.
  10. I have caught numerous smallmouth bass & walleye that had only one eye. They were all healthy looking without any signs of stress or malnourishment.
  11. Hey guys after fishing with Jeff on my home waters he really is a quick study. The man can work a jerkbait with the best of them. Now if only we could teach him how to bet. Jeff don't forget you still owe me $2 bucks.
  12. I liked it Jeff. Very nice.
  13. Spro popping frog does both.
  14. Sleep well.
  15. My best day for largemouth was best five fish weighing 43+ lbs down in Mexico at lake baccarac.
  16. Easy solution is for the state to ban all tournaments during spawning season like PA does. I also like the catch, weigh & release concept for tournaments.
  17. All black & all white. Spro popping frog is a very versatile bait.
  18. You are absolutly correct. It is frustrating for most. Many people haven't a clue. Over the weekend A-Jay & I had a arsehole snag my line while we were drifting with his large board run off a mast. I gave him what for & picked up his board before he could cut me off. We had previously yelled at him that he was too close but he did not steer off quickly enough. The major holidays are always the worst.
  19. Nice one Wayne!
  20. They aren't smallies but provided a little fun when the smallies split. A-Jay with his favorite walleye pair.
