Goose I was referencing loomis after the buy out by shimano, hence shimano/loomis. As I recall I was told this by an employee rep when I inquired about a particular rod action/weight question.

Shimano/Loomis used to publish rods weights but quit doing so after a lawsuit was filed. Someone sued them because the rod weight differed slightly from the published weight. Think truth in advertising. It became a liability and they quit the practice of disclosing weights.

Little John is confusing the state record requirements with Pa fish & boat commission angler award program summary. Heck for all we know little john could be JZ. There are so many discrepancies in the angler award program summary that it is not worth the paper it is printed on. Anyone can say they caught whatever & it weighed & measured whatever. The really bogus ones have no clue what a given weight should correspond to length & girth measurements. Great program but without verification it is meaningless because of the dishonest people who submit bogus weights & measurements.

Ok So Now We See It!!back To The Original Claim Will It Revolutionize Fishing"??? No it will not. But it might be a very effective tool. Any crank bait that hunts while being retrieved will out trigger any bait that does not. Its that erratic action that gets bit. That's why jerk baits are so effective. They are erratic when properly worked. Reef runner makes a banana style bait deep diver in a 800 series. Very popular plug for walleye fisherman. You buy the bait & it runs crooked right out of the box 9 times out of 10 pulling to the right or to the left. You have to tune them by bending the line tie right or left. After tuning the bait correctly it wobbles along then suddenly jumps 6" to a foot left then returns back to normal tracking then it jumps right 6" to a foot before returning to straight tracking. The faster you go the greater the hunting action before it finally blows out from excessive speed. My guess is the rapalas will shine best with a fast retrieve or erratic retrieve stop & go. Bobby is probably right that the stick bait style will be killer on smallies late prespawn 50-60 degrees water temps just before spawning starts.

There seems to be some confusion about rep sample rods. All rep sample rods (display rods) purchased from shimano/loomis retailers are new rods with full warranties. They all qualify for a wild card if you register them with loomis & send in a copy of your receipt.

I caught this on a pointer 100 jerkbait.

I picked up a nrx 804C JWR that was sold as rep sample from a major retailer. The rod was in perfect condition with a rod sock. There was no problem getting the wild card. If you want one jump on it.
