  1. Went out today with my little fishing buddy & got into some smallies Fished from 11am till 5:30pm before I pulled the plug. Caught 15 smallies & missed 4. Had four over 5lbs & 7 over 4lb. No 6lbers yet! Water temps were 46-47 degrees. Caught all fish on jerk baits in 15 to 23 fow. Here is a few pics of the bigger ones.
  2. Keep trying. The high pressure bluebird sky might not be the problem. Since your water temps are still pretty cold you may be a little early. This time of the year the smallies are moving from wintering areas to transitional feeding areas adjacent to spawning areas. They can be moving from deep to shallow & back again. Keep tring the area your shop teacher told you about. Try jerk baits like floating rapalas, husky jerks , etc. It probably not your lure selection but lack of fish where your fishing. If you can talk to some other fisherman from your area maybe they can help point you in the right direction regarding location of good spots.

  4. Great pics. Who said you can't catch fish wading. Looks like a st croix stick in that last picture? Is that one of RW's avids?
  5. Hey MaineBassMan be careful! Us old guys might take offense at that statement. Funny how the old guys do catch an occasional big fish. ;)
  6. Tin got it right. The wind is a fisherman's best friend 99% of the time. Makes locating them easier and the less visibility makes them more..courageous shall we say. It just makes for tough boat control. And don't forget wind & waves will put the fish shallow & put the fish higher into the water column.
  7. Although the infisherman is not exclusive to bass fishing they will teach you a lot. Very informative for me.
  8. This one weighed the same as the first fish.
  9. Went out 3/31/10 for smallies & got skunked. Went out yesterday & caught five & missed two. Water temps in PIB were 50-52 degrees. Out in the lake a mile from the bay water temps were 47-48. Four more miles down the shore showed 44 degrees. The recent SW winds & sun has got the bite started. Here is a sample from yesterday. All fish caught on lc staysee jerk baits.
  10. Way to go MaineBassMan. Keep em coming.
  11. Thats a beauty for sure.
  12. It looks like your dialed in. WTG Larry!
  13. You run a classy site Glenn and the people using the site are are the best. Good attracts better.
  14. K_Mac is right. A good scale will humble you.
  15. Nice fish David P. I think they are a gas! I catch them early spring & fall when fishing for smallies on lake erie. They will definitely light up your gear when they hit. We catch them on jerk baits all the time. Over our way anything in the teens is considered a trophy.
  16. Way to go on that new PB!
  17. Sounds like a great outing. I'm hoping to get a few myself this week.
  18. My guess is 8lbs-15oz.
  19. Looks like a happy ending. Congrats to both of you.
  20. Way to go! I can't wait until our water temps get into the mid 40's.
  21. Am I allowed to tie on a jig to that fishing line?
  22. Chances are the fish are moving away from your boat because of the shallow water your fishing. I usually don't mark fish until I'm in 15-20 feet deep. The deeper the water the greater the cone display on your unit.
  23. Well said K_Mac.
