  1. B looks bigger but I suspect its the same fish in both pictures. We already know its the same hat in both pics. Maybe you can trade the hat for a scale? ;)
  2. rlsurveying the fish on the left weighed 6-4 as I remember. My biggest so far is 7-6. Your into some beautiful fish. I always used to think the biggest fish came in the spring because of prespawn but there are some real biggies caught in the fall. Most people are missing the boat on fall fishing.
  3. I talked to the people at IGFA regarding digital scales & they recommended Salter Brecknell as the most reliable that they test for record certification. A 55lb scale is $89.95 and a 100lb on sale for $79.95. If you fish for mutiple species & travel to remote areas it is a bargin. It reads in pounds with ounces, pounds in tenths & kilo's with a tare feature for weighing in a net/bag. I just bought one last week.
  4. Great trip. I can't beleive you have been ice free for two weeks. We are still iced in for another couple of weeks.
  5. Getting your string pulled is a good start. The bigger ones will follow.
  6. Awesome, Congrats on the PB.
  7. Happy retirement to you and your bride. Sounds like she deserves it.
  8. Yea mike but Cordele is 20 miles north of the Florida line.
  9. Fmoore, it usually happens between 40-45 degrees surface temp.
  10. I got to fish some farm ponds with two buddies around Atlanta & Cordele GA the end of Feb & first of March. We had cold front conditions & lots of north wind. Best baits were senkos, flukes, rattle baits and wake baits. Our best day for numbers & size was with 10 to 20 mph winds. When the wind was blowing the worst we did best with rattle baits & wake baits fished on the surface or just below. This was my biggest for the trip.
  11. Leo I can work with that. Let's hope the lake is fishable because the bay will be pretty busy.
  12. J Francho, what a coincidence I just bought two packages of the gammy finesse wide gap hooks in 1/0 & 2/0 sizes yesterday to take along on a trip to south Georgia later this week. I hadn't tried them yet but they looked perfect for the job.
  13. Instead of a glove just try this. 133 seller ratings Original Boga Grip ® (Model 130) Available: Model 315 weighs fish up to 15 lbs. in 1/4-lb. increments; Model 130 weighs fish up to 30 lbs. in 1/2-lb. increments; Model 260 weighs fish up to ....
  14. I fish them the same. Maybe your not over active fish. Keep trying them they will produce!
  15. The deep pointers & x-raps have similar action to their shallow counterparts. The action just takes place deeper. The lc pointers DD's do suspend with a very slow sink while the deep x-raps float.
  16. John I know. I was indirectly steering that towards you. On erie that's the nirvana of smallmouth bass fishing.
  17. Nick, which felt better the 1st bass of the year or using the new combo to catch the first bass of the year?
  18. Glenn you did a good job considering they caught you off guard.
  19. I use the pointer 100DD's & the staysee SP V.3 and staysee 120 quite a bit especially April & May prespawn on lake erie & again in Oct & Nov. When the water temps are in the 40's & 50's they really shine and the fish are carrying maximum weight.
  20. Great smallies guys. Smalliefever, that must be your lucky hat!
  21. Kinda like what grimlin said. Seeing your first spring prespawn smallie try to jump but it's to fat to get airborne.
  22. Don B. I sent you a PM. Let me know if you got it.
  23. I never met an Avid I didn't like. They are great rods for the price in both casting & spining.
