  1. If yo uhave an opportunity to try out one of the W&M Skeet Reese reels, it'll be obvious why everybody in this post tried to steer you towards something else. The ones I've handled felt worse than $35 Pinnacles, and one of them was defective right out of the box. In my opinion, they're absolute crap.
  2. I don't know about Cabelas, but BPS will let you order online and have it shipped to the store for pickup. I generally buy my reels online, but I buy most of my rods and pretty much all of my soft plastics locally. I don't mind buying hardbaits online, but I really like to check out the color of my soft plastics in person. When it comes to rods, I have to handle them to see how they feel in my hands before plunking down the cash. The only exception would be if I was buying a duplicate or replacement for one I had already owned.
  3. You're doing it wrong, then. Use more trunk and less arm and you'll find that you can paddle faster and longer with less fatigue. http://www.adventuresingoodcompany.com/Common_Misconceptions.pdf
  4. The Berkley model is alot cheaper and won't eat all of your Oreos.
  5. This^^^ A weightless Senko rigged on a 3/0 ewg weighs roughly 3/8 oz. and can be cast on just about any M or MH rod. Weightless 4" worms will require something quite a bit lighter, like an ML.
  6. I've run into a similar issue while fishing a pond in a county park. A county cop pulled up and tried to tell me that I wasn't allowed to fish in county parks. I said, "That's funny because my fishing license, and the GA DNR say otherwise." Do your own research and know your laws. Many times the local officers don't.
  7. I use a uni-uni knot and prefer to keep the line diameters the same, so on the occasions that I use a leader, I use 30# braid with an 8# leader.
  8. I love my Berkely spooling station, and use it to spool all of my reels - casting, spinning, and fly.
  9. I picked up a 6'6" medium spinning rod in the previous generation, and it turned out to be a fantastic rod. Very light, well balanced, and very sensitive. Well worth the $100 I paid for it. They've changed them a bit, but if they're anything like the previous models, they're great rods...even at full price. At $22, it's a no-brainer.
  10. I've had problems with Flambeau boxes developing cracks at the injection point. I've only tried Plano, BPS, and Flambeau so far, but I've been pleased with all of my Plano purchases.
  11. x2 I can catch 'em on just about any other plastic, but Senkos (and Ikas) are fish repellents for me. I gave them another shot this morning for about 2 hours since I have a ton of them, but no luck at all.
  12. I'll occasionally leave the bass gear at home and spend an afternoon (or morning, evening, night, etc) chasing bream with a 3wt fly rod. On those days, I'll typically offer what I catch to the "bucket fisherman". Bream are plentiful where I fish, and if someone is deperate enough to fish for their supper in a county pond that's too polluted to swim in, they need all the help they can get. I've only had one person ask for any of the bass I catch, and he's a good friend who has been having a lot of finacial problems over the past few years. Instead of giving him fish, I gave him a rod, reel, terminal tackle, and a variety of soft plastics from my past orders from ***. What he decides to keep and eat is his business. ^^^ Don't you just love how former site supporters are black-listed when they're no longer paying members.
  13. Much of what the FBI investigates is "white collar" crime, so knowledge of accounting is beneficial. I took a class entitled The Principles of Fraud Examination, and it was a real eye-opener. Definitely not as boring as you'd expect an accounting class to be. I have a degree in Criminal Justice, and if I could do it all over again (or had started on this path when I was your age) I'd skip the Criminology. Sure, it's an interesting area of study, but local agancies typically don't care what your degree is in and the Federal LE agencies are generally looking for more well-rounded applicants. As Bassn Blvd already stated, Criminology degrees are a dime a dozen, and pretty much useless outside of LE.
  14. The FBI likes accountants.
  15. Never used the Stealth Braid so I can't offer an opinion on it, but I have no complaints about PP's performance. As long as I can get it in Hi-viz, I'll use just about any braid I can get my hands on.
  16. I usually stick with 30#...unless I find a killer deal on 20# I've never noticed a difference in performance between the two.

I use a combination of Hoppes #9 and aerosol disk brake cleaner for cleaning, and M14 rifle grease and USGI light machine oil for lubrication. Thousands and thousands of rounds wihout a problem.
  18. I find this interesting as well. Bass are afraid of fishing line but they're not bothered by the treble hooks swinging from the underside of a jerkbait?
  19. Around here they're carrying Bucoos and Vendettas as well, along with the W&M Skeet Reese baitcaster, Falcon spinning reel, and the Abu Orra S and SX spinning models. Their prices are no better than BPS, though, so I think I'll pass on any $100+ rod from Walmart. The way they're crammed into the already over-crowded racks with all of the $10 rods is bound to cause some sort of damage.
  20. I gave several packs of Flash away, but of the opened packs I still own, none have the wave on the eggsack. All of mine are at least a few years old, though.
  21. Works for me. I eat at Krystal once every few years, but only if I'm going straight home. That stuff goes thru me like a freight train.
  22. You probably would've been better off skipping the Milk of Magnesia and hitting the drive-thru at Krystal instead. Three double cheese Krystals, an order of Chili Cheese Fries, and a Cherry Coke would've fixed you right up.
  23. I have had a few older packs of Kinami Flash (their Senko) that had the "GYB" lettering on them, just like the Yamamoto version.
  24. My daily carry holsters are a DeSantis Intruder for my S&W M&P9c and a custom dual-loop IWB for my Kahr CM9 from T.J. Edmond Leatherworks http://tjedmondleatherworks.com/ Crappy cell phone pic... Super comfortable, reasonable prices (as far as custom holsters go, anyway), and incredible attention to detail. I highly recommend his work. I'd love to have him build another one for my M&P9c since I carry it 95% of the time, but I'm a bit short of cash at the moment.
  25. After handling every 2-3 piece 6'6" and 7' medium spinning rod between $50 and $120 at my local BPS, I walked out with a two-piece 7' M Extreme. Even after comparing it to some 1-piece rods in the same price range (Premier, Vendetta, Daiwa T, Clarus), it just had the best feel in the hand. I've owned a few Extremes in the past few years (6'6" & 7' MH casting and 6'8" ML spinning), but this new one actually surprised me a bit. Giving the tip a bit of a rub on the concrete floor, it did a much better job of transmitting the vibration than I was expecting. Definitely seems to be decent enough to replace my broken "trunk rod". Hopefully I'll have a chance to take it out tomorrow and wet a line to see how well it does in "real-world" testing.
