How Many Jigs Do You Own?
x2 I make it a habit to hit the small mom & pop tackle shops whenever I'm on a new lake, just so I can see what kind of jigs the local guys make. If I see something cool, I'll buy a few of them.

Gut Feelings
As a general rule, single guys don't invest that much time with someone else's wife unless there's some kind of "reward". If there's nothing going on between them right now, it's just because the right opportunity hasn't presented itself.

O.m.g! " Meet The Teacher" Day Today
It's not the teachers and moms you run into at the school that'll get you in trouble, it's the single/divorced moms you'll have to spend a few hours a week with once your kid starts doing some kind of sport. Those are the dangerous ones. It would just be too easy...if I were that kind of guy. I'm no angel, and can be pretty difficult to get along with sometimes, but I wouldn't screw around on my wife.

Awkward Moment
Hey, at least she was in a somewhat secluded area. Several years ago, the wife and I were doing a bit of gambling down in Biloxi, MS. We pulled into the parking lot of a convenience store, and there, between the building and a dumpster, was a woman with her shorts down, urinating on the sidewalk. She was right there in plain sight of everyone driving by on the road, and less than 6-8' from the front bumper of my rental car when I pulled into the parking space. Hell, we made eye contact when I pulled in, and there was no trace of shame or emarrassment. To make matters worse, she was holding the hand of a little girl who was probably only 3-4 yrs old. Some people just have no class at all.

The 4 Words Every Man Hates To Hear
Ya know...I'm pretty sure this thread isn't going the way the OP intended.
-
The 4 Words Every Man Hates To Hear
How about: "I wrecked your truck." "I broke your reel." "I sold your rods." "You're not the father."

The 4 Words Every Man Hates To Hear
You forgot "He's just a friend."

St. Croix Rods??
In other words, you have NO ACTUAL EVIDENCE TO SUPPORT YOUR CLAIM. <---- See, I know how to use the 'caps lock' button, too. I would venture to guess that St Croix probably sells ~100 Mojo/Triumph for every Extreme, so comparing the number of posts here about problems with their lower-end rods is completely meaningless. As for calling St Croix to ask why they went outside the US to set up their plant, the answer is obvious to anyone with anything more than a single-digit IQ - money. The market for "premium" rods is very small, and if a rod company wants to stay afloat, they're going to have to sell a product that can compete on the same level as mass-market rods. St Croix chose to take existing designs and have them manufactured in a country where land and labor are cheap, not to mention the cost of shipping from point of manufacture to point of distribution.

St. Croix Rods??
Source? Unless you can produce actual statistics, you're just talking out your ass.

Bps Extreme Spinning Good Or Bad?
I keep a two-piece 7' m/f spinning model in th car/truck just about all the time. It's definitely not the lightest rod in its price range, but the sensitivity is actually pretty good. Overall, I think they're a good deal when on sale. I have mine paired with a Pro Qualifier spinning reel, and really have no complaints. I paid $70 for the rod and $40 for the reel (new from BPS), and at those prices, they're both pretty hard to beat.

Guy Has Been Pulling Up My Catfish Noodles.
This^^^ If it's a private lake/pond with no public access, each plot bordering the lake will typically extend to the center of the lake. If the lake/pond is city/county/state owned, the plots bordering the lake will generally only run to the high-water mark. We ran into this issue a few years ago on Lake Lanier. The lake actually belongs to the Army COE, and when the water level dropped, they put up several temporary fences to keep the rednecks from driving their trucks out onto the exposed lake bed. The folks with property on the lake were ticked, but their property only extended to the high-water mark, not the point the water receded to when the lake dropped 15+ feet. In either case, don't leave your crap out in the middle of the lake. Personally, I can't stand noodles and jugs. If you want to fish, then sit in a boat and fish.

You beat me to it...but I'm not sure I'm kidding.

The "why?" Stage
Once they get past the "thinking they know it all" stage, they'll realize how smart you are and go back to asking questions.

Gunman Opens Fire In Colorado Theater
The state of GA says I can carry anywhere in the state, with a few exceptions. Propert owners have the right to make whatever rules they choose regarding the carrying of firearms on their proprty, but their rules don't carry the weight of law. When/if the property owner realizes you're carrying a firearm, they can ask you to leave. If you fail to comply, you can be cited for trespassing, but that's for failing to comply with the owner's request for you to leave their property, not for violating their rules regarding firearm possession.
-
Gunman Opens Fire In Colorado Theater
They can ask you to leave, but it only becomes a crime (trespass) if you refuse. Around here, though, that would be BAD idea for any outdoor-product retailer. If word got out that they were anti-gun, they'd lose the majority of their business.

Gunman Opens Fire In Colorado Theater
GA's law regarding weapon carry specifically mentions churches being off-limits, but I believe there are some organizations working on changing that.
-
Gunman Opens Fire In Colorado Theater
I can't speak for the laws in CO, but here in GA, those "No Firearms" signs carry absolutely NO legal weight at all. I am legally able to carry everywhere except govt. buildings, schools, post offices, bars (unless I have the owners permission), and churches...regardless of the property owners' policies regarding weapons.

Fly Rod And Reel.
Fwiw, Albright is always having a clearance, and what they don't tell you is they don't warranty the clearance stuff. If it breaks, they'll offer you a discount on a new rod, but they won't replace your old one. OP, there's no way I'd try to use the same rod for all of those fish. A "do it all" rod generally doesn't do anything all that well, and is bound to be too light for some fish and way too heavy for others.

U.s. Reel Hibdon Supercaster 800Sx Baitcasting Reel- 50% Off?!
I had problems with a '95 Ford Escort, so by your logic, I should assume that all new Ford F150s are junk. 10+ years have passed since the first US Reel spinning reels were released. The reel you owned shares nothing with the Supercaster 800sx except a brand name.

U.s. Reel Hibdon Supercaster 800Sx Baitcasting Reel- 50% Off?!
How about you share the rest of the story, or at least let everyone know how many years ago that was and the fact that you had a spinning combo and not a baitcaster like the OP asked about. I owned an 800sx for a while and it was a great caster, especially for light lures like weightless Trickworms and 1/4 oz cranks, but I wouldn't use one for jerks due to the way the levelwind works. You'll wind up with tons of little loops in the line. It probably wouldn't cause any problems, but it's definitely not ideal. The size/weight can also be an issue for some folks. I found it comfortable to palm, but someone with smaller hands may not find it as comfortable.

Have You Ever Liked A Brand So Much You Switched All Your Rods Over To Them?
I ditched all of my Shimano and St. Croix rods (Crucials, Avids, Mojos and Premiers) and replaced them with Carbonlites. I'm not a huge fan of the guides, but I love the weight (or lack thereof), and the sensitivity is comparable the Crucials and Avids for less money. I use a few different brands of reels, but I like all of my rod handles to feel the same or very similar. I'm sure someone will comment on the 1 yr warranty Carbonlite vs. the lifetime on the Crucial and Avid, but if a rod breaks 2-3 yrs after you buy it, it's most likely not the manufacturers' fault and they don't owe you a new rod. If you actually use your gear, any manufacturing/material defects should show up in the first year or less.

Understanding Reel Models
Shimano used to offer a Calcutta 150.

Spinning Rod For Wacky...avid Vs Crucial?
Shimano dealers are under no obligation to do an over the counter replacement, so there's a possibility you'd have to ship it back to Shimano yourself if you need warranty service. Even my local BPS will only replace them during the first 12 months. After that, you're on your own to work it out with Shimano.

Bass Pro Rod Help Finding
Sounds like Enigma rod. They may or may not even be listed in the catalog, but my local BPS always has a rack of them out by the aisle next to the fishing section. Every time I go there I see several people walking around with one, sometimes 2 or 3 of them.

Picking Up And Moving Whose Done It
This is something that bears repeating. When you move to another state, you're typically on your own. That may not seem like a big deal right now, but it can become a big deal when/if you have something come up. Even simple things like buying furniture, building a deck, fixing your car/truck, etc. will be more difficult without a buddy to help...and don't even get me started on the lack of "couple time" without the kids. Who are you going to leave them with when/if the two of you want to have a "date night"?
