  1. Could you all please mention a few "brands/models" for me to look at? Thanks!
  2. I can do one of two things here: Buy a large tackle box (hard or soft) or I can buy 3 or 4 of those clear utility boxes. If I go with a large tackle box, it will take up floor space in the boat which I'm already stumbling over stuff. If I go with 3 or 4 utility boxes, I could store them in my dry storage of the boat (available space is 23L x 13.25W x 10H - 2 of these spaces are in my front deck). I would like to be able to put all my worm packages in one container (about 20 pks), then all my zoom baits in one container (about 20pks), then I need something to hold about 8 crankbaits, 8 spinnerbaits, maybe 8 topwater baits (buzz, jerk, frogs). Can someone please help me manage this? It would be nice to just store individual boxes away in the dry storage in the boat, don't you agree? What boxe(s) do you recommend? Thank you for helping!
  3. I have a question: Back in 2005, I had a similar question and everyone told me to get the Curado. After some research, I found it's the #1 bass fishing reel sold. So, I bought 3 of them @ $129 each (100 series). One year later, I grab the new 2006 BP Catalog and the Curado price went up to $199 each! Yeow! And they are still $199 today. Sup with that??
  4. Why am I not seeing people talk about Stren Superbraid? I switched from Fireline to Superbraid and it's so much better. Have not tried anything else though. I priced Power Pro braid and Superbraid last night at walmart: Power pro 30# 150 yrds = $14 Stren superbraid 30# 125 yrds = $16 Is this why people are choosing PPRO? More line, for less $?
  5. I know it's all personal preference, but for casting a worm in heavy cover, a 6' MH Berkley lightening rod will catch fish just fine. If you want 6' 6", then get that size. Whatever feels good to you. For worming or topwater, get MH action to give you more "hook set power". For crankin' or spinnerbaits, go for M action, which allows the bait to have some "cushion" on the retrieve. Oh, and the price of Berkley Lightening rods? About $30. I don't see any reason why others here have quoted $100-$150 for a rod. Geesh. Berkley Lightening rods are very lightweight, very strong, very sensitive, and very reliable. You'll never get more 'bang for the buck'.
  6. Please tell me your opinion as to the top 3 bass fishing lakes in Alabama, Georgia, and Florida. Yes, please quote 3 per state, if you can think of that many. Thank you!!!
  7. I watched the 2008 BMC like all you other fishheads out there... but I have a question. WHEN exactly what that tournament held? February 2008? If so, that seems crazy, to have "the classic" at the beginning of the year. Why isn't it held around October? Thanks.
  8. On a hot July day, my bags of Tiki Sticks are laying on the front deck of the boat, almost cooking in the 100 degree sun, and I rip open one of the bags and that black licorice scent reaches my nose.... ahhhh. Even though I hate black licorice candy....that scent is deadly, with wacky style tiki sticks!
  9. Wow, never thought about that! Remove old braid and restring it in reverse order! My only problem is....I use mono as filler deep down on my spool, and fill it about 1/2 with mono. Then I tie braid to it, and fill up the rest of the spool. This allows me to use one $14 spool of braid for 3 reels!
  10. I would like to know if each of you have used Stren SuperBraid. If your answer is "yes", then please tell me why you prefer Suffix or PowerPro instead of Stren SuperBraid. Thanks!
  11. It's 1am and I should have my buttt in the bed, but I saw this post, and had to read it. Made me smile. Congrats to that lucky dad and the lucky daughter! I have 2 sons, ages 8 and 10. The 10 year old recently passed his zebco 33 down to his 8 year old brother after learning to operate one of the 6 Shimano's in the rodbox. There's nothing like have a child that loves to fish. Sometimes, you wanna say some bad words (when they hook you in the back with a rattlin' rogue and braided line), but you have to bite your lip....while you reach over your shoulder and try to get that jerkbait out of your back! Yes, I speak from experience. LOL
  12. I fished Fireline for years. It faded and frayed badly. Also, it seemed to 'dig' down into the inner layers of line on the spool, causing it to 'snag' during a cast and backlash. I loved the feeling of braid and hated to have to give it up, so I tried Stren Super Braid. I love it. Stren Superbraid casts great and is ultra sensitive. I am having a few problems though. One, the line floats and doesn't allow a weightless worm or fluke to fall as much as I like. Also, when using braid on a spinnerbait or crankbait, it feels like it will rattle your hands off! It's so sensitive! The wobble of the willow leaf blades or a bandit crankbait will rattle your teeth while using braid. I don't mind feeling all the little 'bumps' when I fish a worm or pig-n-jig, but not baits that put off constant vibrations. I'm not sure which line would be best for weightless worms, spinnerbaits, and cranks.
