Can I please get help with my spinning setup?
I don’t know about 12# fc on a spinning reel even if it is invisx, but there is only one way to find out. Good luck and report back with the results of using 12# fc.

Giving props to our southern anglers!
Overcast in Seattle right now and 60. Summer hasn’t even come yet and it’s July. Give me 90 ... NOW! Lol

Lews new product line
Ah, give KVD a break. I’d bet a floating Rapala minnow that he did contribute to the design. Someone had to pick the color scheme.

Combo for Toddler
What he has is perfect until age 5-6. Those snoopy/superhero/princess rods are ideal for that age in size and their simplicity. A serious 5-7 year old can handle a spinning setup but you’re still a couple years away from that, lol.

A lot of hits but no fish.
Go single hook. ?

I'm getting carried away with these spinning rods
I don’t gravitate toward either. I use the type that will best do the task at hand. Spinning or casting, I LOVE THEM BOTH... ALOT. With that said, you can’t have too many of either.

Bait Cast Reel Sizes You Use Most ?
I never get bored looking at A-Jay’s Picts.

Bait Cast Reel Sizes You Use Most ?
Since my reels have to serve dual purpose I prefer 200 sized reels in general. However, if a sale comes up for which I can’t refuse a smaller reel, I just might bite. The conditions I face make anything smaller than a 100 sized reel useless so I will not go smaller than this. I have a 300 Cardiff for saltwater fishing but it’s 5.x gear ratio is awesome for cranking so I use it occasionally for crankbait fishing. Its bigger spool also helps getting slightly farther casts for the same effort too. I take it Mexican Spanish, lol? ??

spinning casting distance
Are you ensuring that the rod is being loaded by the weight of whatever you’re tossing? If the questions already posed aren’t the culprits, and because the weight you are tossing is well within the range of the rod, may I suggest perhaps the culprit might be in the mechanics of your cast. The Reel and line you mentioned should be a recipe for beautiful and killer casts. Definitely piqued my curiosity. Keep us posted.

“ G Loomis NRX” for $125 but no sticker??
In the words from a Monty Python movie, “Run away, run away!” (from the killer rabbit, lol)

10'6" UL rod
In my experience, it’s yes for the same effort, especially if the angler’s mechanics maximize the rod’s casting capabilities. That additional 3.5’ imho is enough to make a difference of 10-15’ farther. Not really too much but there will be times from the shore that that extra distance could spell the difference between being in the zone and not. I am speaking about a spinning setup in my argument and not center pins.

10'6" UL rod
It helps with line control (eg, like in dealing with current). It helps when you have to handle very long leaders for certain types of fishing. For example on my home lake when trout fishing, if you aren’t fishing your powerbait with at least a 9’ leader, your chances are practically zero on appealing to the trout. Try casting a 9’ leader on a typical 5’ UL rod, lol. It helps with longer casts with less effort of your part. it is also very handy when float fishing in current. I have a 9’6” UL and I love it.

You know what grinds my gears...
That’s how it goes sometimes. But I’m glad you’re happy with the reel. That’s what really counts and that’s better than being stuck with something you don’t like, lol.

You know what grinds my gears...
If you bought it locally, I’d go back to the store and see if they’d honor the sales price. I bet that they would. That $40 could be used to buy lures and what not.

Coping with the crowds this year
Thankfully, I don’t have that issue ... oh wait, that’s because I haven’t gone out fishing yet, lol. I imagine it would be the same here in my state but that is a guess at best.

How many “main” setups do you have?
It’s the BAIT MONKEY! And we’re all enablers, Lol.

How many “main” setups do you have?
The same argument can be made if you’re fishing from a boat, lol, and pretty much that same rod. We all only “need” one rod to fish, on a boat or from the shore. We can only effectively fish with one rod at a time. For many, at least in the rod department the want overrides the need. Guilty as charged. ?

How many “main” setups do you have?
I used to bring 5 as a shorebound angler. It was a pain in the you know what lugging 5 rods through my fingers. luckily, I realized early on that of the 5, more often than not, only 3 were used 95% of the time. as a result, I got wise. I realized I didn’t need an H because I never face that scenario. Scratch one rod. Then there was a back up spinning that never got used because well, I never ruined the primary one. Then, sometimes it’s tough from the shore so finesse and lighter powered rods gave me the best chances. So now 1 ultralight/light spinning - okuma celilo 7’ 1 MH spinning - Shimano compre 6’6” 1 M casting - Cabela magtouch 7’ The MH spinning unbelievably is a great all arounder that can fish drop shot or a senko. The M casting is so powerful it can set the hook on a jig or spinnerbait without breaking a sweat but can still work a senko or hard jerkbait. Weird! Incidentally, they’re all 2-piece rods too. They cover what I need to have done. With that said, I might consider bringing my true bass rods that are one piece on the weekend and I will bring other rods as needed but always 3. That MH spinning and M casting rod have also battled salmon too with with a fair fight. All are sensitive but then again with my hands, even an ugly stik is a loomis in my hands. that is my story and I’m sticking to it.

Recommend to me your go to fluorocarbon
Another vote for seaguar. To the OP: get the vanish line off your real. If you ever wonder why they call it vanish, you don’t want to learn with a fish of a lifetime on it because it will vanish. I’ve nicknamed that line “poof”. Maybe they improved it but I would rather not fish than use vanish.

A few “myths” to think about

Spinnerbait life expectancy
That was me for 14 painful years.
-
Spinnerbait life expectancy
Not really. I don’t spend more than $5 on them and I usually get 4-5 fish but sometimes one good strike and bam. Sometimes you can tune them and sometimes you can’t.
-
Spinnerbait life expectancy
Sometimes only one fish and it was only like a 3 pounder too on a strike king sb

Stoopid question? LH vs RH baitcasters
That’s also my story and I’m sticking to it. To the OP - It’s 100% your preference. Try both. One will feel awkward and the other will be like the baby bear, “just right.” However, I will bet you a floating rapala minnow and a pack of owner mosquito hooks that because of your history with LH spinning reels, you will 1,000,000% prefer LH casting reels. ‘Nuff said.

What’s your favorite finesse rod and reel?
I’ve had this rod for well over a decade. 7’ Lamiglas Certified Pro Drop Shot Special ML This rod is light and incredible. I have to wear leather workman’s gloves to stave off the sensitivity (jk) I pair it most of the time with my size 20 Rapala sx6i or 2500 Shimano Symetre and usually filled with 6# Seaguar Invizx. I feel guilty sometimes. It’s not even a fair fight.
