  1. The handle is on the right. OH NOOOOOOOOO! just kidding. I know he’s going to nail em. Happy birthday!
  2. My experience has been no discernible difference in catching and both are good. One does look cooler and meaner and hence catch anglers that way. Same experience has led me to believe that all of the reputable companies, gammies, Vmc, mustad, owner are good. Excellent actually. So I get what most economical at the time. As you probably know, it boils down to personal preference. I’ve tried them all and they’re all great from cranks to my homemade inline spinners.
  3. Steam is invisible and many people confuse the water vapor they see as steam. so would the proper spot to place the tip be somewhere between the top of the boiling water and right under where you see the water vapor?
  4. Done that too. The other that used to happen when I first started was lining the rod up without knowing that the line was actually underneath a coil or too. It is rare that this happens now since I watch that like a hawk but the one I did like usually happens when I am a bit hasty, lol.
  5. Since you last fished when the line on your casting rod like this: I put the line through through the guides and even tied my spinnerbait on and set the reel to the lure. Then when I looked at the reel, I gave myself a mental slap with an imaginary glove.
  6. You’re preaching to the choir ?
  7. Then we have a lot in common on that front. Exact same scenario and I too studied. I went nice and slow and stayed patient as I heated the rod tip to soften the glue that held it to the rod tip. Post a pic when you’ve replaced. You’ll be all smiles. Guaranteed.
  8. Don’t be. I was when had to do this to one of my rods. Just take your time. It was so easy I started laughing after I finished because it was so easy and I was initially so scared because it was a prized rod, lol. You can do it.
  9. Awesome. Nice resurrection/restoration project.
  10. If the rod has a bookkeeper, the hook goes there and I secure the weight to the rod handle with some kind of hair tie or small strip of Velcro.
  11. Never heard of that or have my rods feel differently in hand and many of them I’ve had for over 10 years. It could be more about you becoming accustomed to the rod’s traits that you might have yet been keen on yet.
  12. Thanks. I was curious what kind of mold made the heads in your first post. I can see what I would think is the bottom part as shown but I’m having a hard time visualizing the “top”. Feel free to post the mold used to make the jig heads in your other post too. and thanks in advance!
  13. Can you post a pic of the mold?
  14. Nice Catholic production of jig heads. ?
  15. IBC is good too. Might have stop traders to get that beer for beer bread and batter?
  16. The timing of the mechanics is different. That’s why. Period (my daughter’s been using this word lately and it’s rubbing off on me, lol) They’re both tools and fortunately there are many applications where both are quite adequate and others in which one will outshine the other. However, the bottom line is that accuracy is user based 100%, not tool based. If my daughter spoke the previous sentence, she’d have followed it up with, “Period.” ?
  17. I can’t believe those outrageous prices. Insane! You’d think it was the last bible on earth like in that book of Eli movie. Glad I have my copy. It’s a nice addition to my small library of good books bass related or not.
  18. So do you have lifetime membership like me? ?? to the topic thanks on the Alberto advice. I’m stuck on the Albright and have noticed sometimes when I tie it, the same thing happens when pulling the lines taut it too can unravel when I tighten it too slowly. I think the culprit is if you stick the line that did the wrapping in the wrong place of the made loop.
  19. It’s not a bad thing to have such weapons in your arsenal. I’ve been on this site for years now but as a shorebound angler, I am not sure why I didn’t realize there was a water vessel (boat) ? monkey ?.
  20. Stay away from any braid 20# or less unless you’re experienced enough to know the intricacies of said line. If your weight wasn’t stuck to your plastic, that could also add to the casting equation with regard to aerodynamics if your casting mechanics are adequate. If your cover allows for it, step down to lighter line and see if that helps.
  21. Welcome from a neighbor just north of you in Seattle.
  22. That’s what I have on one of my reels. Should be fine (the mono) for small to medium cranks and jerk baits with light to no cover. Or even senkos with a non super hook.
  23. Yes, that’s what I do if I decide to bring two (1 rod 99.9999% of the time) but I will hide it to minimize the risk of theft.
  24. If the line is in optimal condition and your reel has a good drag that is set there is only only thing that might be an issue. with the first two in place and open water or relatively light cover, you win. if heavy cover, you could lose, but heavy cover doesn’t match your tools so it shouldn’t be use without knowing the risks. you probably think 6# line is “weak”. It isn’t. People in my neck of the woods battle salmon with as little as 4# rest in current and they win. You just need to get over that mental block. I am glad I did. there is one other “bad” thing. As one who finally got over that idea that light line is weak line, I have gravitated slightly toward finesse and lighter tackle. It’s so fun, but remember the right tool for the job. a few weeks ago my son got lucky battling a bass out of Lilly pads on 6# test while on a dock.
