  1. Yeah, it knocks the wind out of you like a punch in the gut, but one difference is that 9 times out of 10, your tail is also tucked between your legs. Yes, dear, lol.
  2. I am so glad I sipped that last of my hot cup of broth before I read your comment or it would have gone all over my monitor.
  3. I’m with papa Joe about stepping up to 10#. Even if I was not banging on things. That is a minimum for me unless I’m throwing something like a floating rapala minnow. I might venture to 8#. Also, if it hasn’t changed, I believe rapala based their diving depths off on 10# mono. My philosophy is to use the lightest line I can get away with and in this case, it’s 10#. Just a question. Are you familiar enough with using 15# braid in a bc reel? Without it, you might find the thin diameter of that braid “dig” itself into the spool and potentially hinder casts and increase the potential for overruns. It is less of an issue the heavier the lure as the weight can sometimes “break through” the line dig, but it still could be an issue. If you are experienced, please ignore this.
  4. Ain’t nothing complementary about that comment. ? Matter of fact, I may very well be suffering from an acute case of cabin fever. That’s my angle on it, at least. ? To the topic, I prefer horizontal but won’t complain if the bail is biased tail down.
  5. You don’t need a treble hook. A size 10 bait holder hook is sufficient. Assuming you’re going to be using dough. Roll it up in a small ball perhaps the size of a marble then insert the hook into the ball and press it onto the hook. That’s it. This is how we do it in the pacific nw, lol. Using a treble design for dough would be the equivalent of a “self-respectin’” bass angler using a spinning reel, lol. Just kidding. The treble can hold the bait maybe a little better but not by much. My preference for the single hook is that trout mouths are delicate and many times they will deep swallow the hook because it’s already halfway down their throat by the time you realize you have a bite. Removing a single hook is usually easier than a treble. However , if you know you’re taking them home it may well be a moot point.
  6. No worries. Auto correct can be sometimes produce some funny things. The posts from you and rw actually triggered a memory from my early 20s in which some classmates and I were discussing parity (computer programming class) and someone made a joke about parity with the word parody. Cant remember the wise crack joke exactly, but at least I remembered something that long ago, lol.
  7. Columbia, I think Kent was ribbin’ because you used the word parody instead of parity. I could be wrong, and that would be a tragedy in the pacific nw. ?
  8. Thanks. I’m finding your comment inspiring. In my neck of the woods, fishing for bass in winter from the shore has been practically a zero chance game that I usually target other species like salmon this time of year. Maybe I’ll get my first winter bass this season.
  9. Nice fish. Vicarious fishing is better than no fishing lol
  10. Would love to see it to help get through the winter doldrums. You can reduce it at post images.org, even from your phone.
  11. I once got pulled over by a trooper for going 30 mph in a 25 mph zone. ? As the officer approached my door, on his name plate was Yamamoto. I asked if he had a relative named Gary. He said no and after a stern warning, I told him to tell his cousin to send me a pack 222 senkos. He had no clue what I was talking about. Other claim to fame is that I have a signed hat from Bill Dance.
  12. Welcome! Glad to see you here.
  13. I build mine with swivels. It’s a great option to incorporate into your build. Are you looking to build heavier ones to better handle stronger currents or casting? I’d guess size 4 or 5 on those blades, perhaps French (love them) style.
  14. I ain’t biting, but if you ask me, it looks like it could also take out aliens and predators. Dang, lol!
  15. Are you already experienced with bc reels? If so, then put whatever line you want to put on to serve your specific needs. If you are a beginner, then for the sake of learning, I would recommend 10-14# mono. This is easiest to learn on. Later, if you want to try braid, don’t use less than 30# braid if you want to minimize line dig.
  16. You got that right! Well, it still kind is a paradise. My sister occasionally asks me, “Why don’t you move to AZ?” I visited her once. The only green you could see were saguaro cacti and lawns were pretty much rock gardens, for which the only benefit I could see was that you no longer had to mow the lawn. Lastly, since I live in the land where salmonids are king, I have all the bass to myself, lol. I still target salmon once in a while.
  17. As in Pacific Northwest? To the topic, reorganizing for the sake of making the passing of winter faster is ludicrous. Ridiculous. A freaking waste of time. Lame. We all know the definition of insanity... I can’t believe it’s snowing in the Seattle area right now, as I write this. Somehow, some way, earlier today, I bought two plastic storage containers. Now sure why, but I did. You’ll all need to excuse me. I have some reorganizing to do. Man, is April a long ways away. ?
  18. 9 times out of 10 I have my size 20 (same as Shimano’s 2000) on my ds rig and even when I use it for other techniques and applications, it has been more than adequate. It not like we’re battling a marlin, lol. ? I think that reel will serve you well.
  19. More than adequate. It’s just a bit smaller than a 2500 reel. However if line capacity is a must, I’d move up to 2500 or 3000.
  20. That’s what I use too... When I can find them. ?
  21. Great information so thanks for that. What if you don’t have the receipts? I know some of those receipts the print has faded lol.
  22. No worries, I believe the fish wouldn’t notice nor care anyway, lol. I had classmate in high school who was naturally cross-eyed and when you looked at him as you would in conversing with someone, one eyed would be on you and the other would be looking elsewhere. I remember (all boys school so you know we’re all going to be jokesters and prankers without end) it was exam week and the teacher went through what was allowed and not for the exam. Then she said, “Are they any questions?” another buddy raised his hand and said, “Ms. so-n-so, It’s not fair. James (name changed to protect the innocent” has has a major advantage over the rest of us.” She asked how and he replied, “James can look at the exam and the (Separate) answer sheet at the same time and the rest of us can’t .” The whole class started busted out laughing. If we were girls,I’d bet a good number would have had to go to the bathroom to pee. making this will be the the next bass fishing trend... crooked eye or lazy eye shad jig heads. Don’t dot your eyes... Cross’em! jigs are my weakness is bass fishing. I’ve had success with jig and plastics but not the jignpig and I’m in my 16th season of fishing. The horror, lol!
  23. That’s really nice work. I’d spoil myself if I had your skills and get the iwata.
  24. Highly unlikely in a modern 2 piece rod. And if it does, it is user failure to properly combine the two parts. Now the two parts might slowly begin to slightly become misaligned so be mindful of that. As long as you have a lure tied on, there is absolutely not need to worry if the top half really does fly off. Because of the lure being attached, you would be able to retrieve it. I’ve had my two piece Cabelas mag touch, Shimano compre and convergence, Lamiglas, and Okuma Celilo rods for probably 10 or more years now and they’re still all being used and never ever has any of the tips ever flown off. Just gently connect the two parts together until the connection is snug and assertive. I usually also twist the two parts toward alignment as the connection becomes more snug. I will also twist the two parts apart when separating them. I learned that somewhere, I think from the fishing for dummies book. Don’t remember why but it’s become habit, lol.
