  1. The carp have been caught in Kentucky lake and I beleave Pickwick!!!
  2. > I don't know if this is a problem that many people talk about but the asian jumping carp is killing off a lot of our bass fishing in America! Check out all the info you can on the NET! Just google it and you will be amazed, and angry! They are all over the Mississippi river and in most of the rivers that connect to it., they are even at the edge of the great lakes!!! NOT GOOD... What does everyone else think? >
  3. Its a personal feel thing, the first time I had it alittle to loose and I had to tighten it after seting the hook. So just back it off alittle and see how it feels! Also I do like the BPS XPS line so far its been working. I think all the flouro lines snap quicker because they have less stretch. I did a home test with a hook in a vise and I could not beleave how much the mono stretched, then on the other side the flouro didnt stretch much and would just snap. Its just a matter of getting used to this new line.
  4. Went out today caught 12 bass and had NO problems,, I backed off my drag and that did help!! 8-) I do think that the problem is that flouro has less stretch!! All of my snap offs came with strikes close to the boat, which means not alot of line out. So with a hard hook set and the drag tight :'( :'( :'( snapping line!!
  5. Im using 14# XPS flouro, I will reduce the drag alittle now. Im going fishing tomarrow.. We will see what happens!!! >
  6. OK I dont know what is wrong then, I wet the line when I tie my knots (all of them). and I have used every knot that has been mentioned!! I have seen other people knots and some guys tie real ugly knots and you can see it easy..Like I said earlier, I tie a good knot and I take my time when doing it, so Im not sure whats wrong. :-/
  7. The line is breaking at the knot and sometimes above the knot!! Its almost an equal amount. I do check my knots and the knot I tie is a pretty good knot, they dont look ugly!! I found an article that said you have to change a little about the hook set, and loosen the drag. The problems Im having is fishing a worm Texas style.. and I do set the hook HARD... When I was a kid we would call it crossing there eyes!! I have not had that much of a problem with crank baits!! NO hard hook sets!! :-/
  8. What is the real story with this line? I have used basspro XPS and trilene, I dont want to waste anymore $$$$. I have tryed 4 different knots and not much luck yet... I have gotten info from an FLW tour pro and so far not much luck there either. So can anybody tell me what they use, and any tricks when using it. I do like this line I feel way more then with mono, but I have snapped off on 5 nice fish in my last 2 trips (NOT GOOD)!!! >
  9. YES if they are over 2 pounds!!!
  10. Ok this subject is all about what feels good to you!! I have 11 daiwa team reels, from the zillion to the TDX 103f super tuned. I would never change, I just love the way the daiwas backlash control works. I can cast into a hard wind and only get a backlash 1 every 20 times. It does take time when you first start useing a baitcaster just dont stop!! When you buy a reel dont go CHEAP!!! the better reals have great bearings and just feel solid. Give the daiwas a try, if you buy it from BPS and dont like it they will let you trade it in!! My son started with a daiwa and never had a problem, he was 12. GOOD LUCK!!!
  11. I have had the same problem this year!! I think its because of bad luck and small fish. I have lost more fish this year then I have caught. Some big fish have pulled off of my crank baits and I have lost a ton of first year fish around one pound!! the little guys just short strike and the big fish seem to be pulling off my crank baits. Im not that worried about it because when I catch 5 and loose 6 its still better then work!!! ;D
  12. thanks for the info guys it will help. I do need to get to KY lake
  13. Has anybody used this new rod? It has the new spring eyes like on the $350.00 g loomis rods. Its is on sale now for 150.00 and it looks good! Would the 7 ft med heavy make a good worm rod?? IT sems a little lite at the tip.. FEEDBACK PLEASE!! 8-)
  14. West TN area lakes, Has anyone been to horse shoe lake in east arkansas, or Sardis and enid in MS. or gibson county and beech lake in WEST TN.. I have not had any good info on these lakes.
  15. I HATE THE WIND!!!! Im in the west TN area and I have been fishing in the wind for 5 months,, when is it going to stop!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-/
  16. First get rid of the swizel, and dont give up. It could be you just dont have the feel for it yet. Soft plastics are not for everyone!!! :-?
  17. welcome back to this great sport
  18. Zonas show is just what we need, I have not missed one show since I first found it last year. Im kind of like he is, STUCK in the 80s. I think there is alot more of us out there we just cant find each other. He has the best job in the world!!! He gets to fish with the pros all over america and have a ton of fun doing it. He also gets to fish with KVD, he seems to be a great person to and he always teaches what he knows. The strange thing is some people seem to be cut out of the same mold, Zona would have fit right in with our group of 80s hair band freaks in south FLA. I hope his show lasts a long time and he never changes what he does, The PEKABOO THE VEST AND THE 80S STUFF KICKS BUTT!! ;D ;D
  19. THIS SHOW WAS GREAT, ZONA IS NUTS, AND KVD SEEMS TO DRIVE HIM CRAZY! WHAT DID EVERYBODY ELSE THINK ;D
  20. NICE REEL I WISH I COULD AFFORD ONE! I DO OWN A ZILLION. NICE FISH!!!

Just go to google and type in what you want, you will have alot to read. Soft plastics are a great way to fish, That is the way I fished for years and then I had to adjust to what you are doing!! I will tell you that most people I have fished with say its not easy to slow down and fish soft plastics. Thats the key, slow down and pay atention!! Some days you will have to really slow down and other days it not that bad and you can fish at a faster pace. In the summer when the fish have lock jaw go slow real slow and always let the bait get to the bottom!! Dont give up you will get used to it, then you will love it!! 8-)
  23. Ok this lure is a little high priced- Does anybody like them? And what color would you buy if you could only buy ONE! :-/
  24. Try to get some bandit crankbaits in chartreuse and blue back to use in dirty water or shad color, or a natural color to use in clear water. another good bait is the strikeking wild shinner suspending bait. If the water is cold give the jerk bait a couple of jerks and let it sit, if the water is warmer you can fish it a little faster. The last thing is a texas rig worm. Work it slow, real slow and get the right colors, clean water get watermelon or pumpkin, dirty water use darker colors like june bug or black with red flake. Just keep fishing dont give up!!!! ;D
