  1. I also know that not letting your car idle for a long time is a good way to save gas, and yet I still let it warm up in the driveway for a good ten minutes on those below 30 mornings. Can't stand shivering while I drive.
  2. I would like to slow down but, I think it is easier said than done. I don't know if I can cruise an open road going 55.
  3. Micro, Check your PM's.
  4. This problem is bigger than the policies of our Federal Government. Everyone from the top on down needs to bear some responsibility. State, local leaders as well as the teachers and their unions. Parents also need to get involved. What Micro is talking about as far as his son is concerned is to me not only a breakdown in the system but negligence.
  5. The last thing I would suggest, is to move to Chelsea, MA. We discipline case by case, not by the "book".
  6. Sorry, that last part was political, I just got on a roll.
  7. Micro, As a elementary school Assistant Principal in charge of special education, I understand your frustration, I do however disagree with some of your points. It sounds to me that you are having a bad experience with your child's school, and its policies. A lot of your issues with the discipline and enforcement of rules are made at the school or district level. The absurdities that you hear about on the news when it comes to Principals suspending children are not the norm.(in my experience) The bureaucracy in Special Education is ridiculous, though your frustration should be with IDEA 2004(Individuals with Disabilities in Education Act) not the local district. The process does take an incredible amount of time. One of the ways to a SPED evaluation is for the parents to make a request in writing. The district has ten school days to respond. We respond by sending out consent to evaluate forms to be signed, 45 school days after consent is received, a Team meeting, consisting of a regular education teacher, special education teacher, parent, and a Local Education Authority(someone with the authority to commit resources) is held to determine eligibility. If eligibility is determined, an IEP(Individualized Education Program) is written within five school days. Services legally begin after the parent has consented to the IEP. Sorry for what seems to be a long explanation for everybody unfamiliar with the process, but the funny thing is, this is the abridged version. The amount of paperwork generated by my office is ridiculous! My other advice to everybody is to speak with your Representatives in Washington. Unfortunately, most educational policy is dictated by people that have never actually been in a public school before.
  8. I can't remember his name but, the Senior Drill Instructor in "Full Metal Jacket"
  9. I don't know anything about being a fishing guide, but I think this story relates. My brother loved to play golf, so he made it his business. He is now a club Pro in New Jersey, the worst part about his job he says is that he doesn't get to play that much golf anymore. I would think that being a fishing guide would be pretty much the same thing.
  10. They are actually very quick too. I ordered something online one time with my MasterCard, turns out the order goes to a foreign company, and they called me about five minutes after the transaction went through to make sure it was ligit. It was nice to know that somebody was things that closely.
  11. When you have free time to fish, something will break in the house that requires all of your free time to fix! >
  12. I stand corrected Chris. I would probably add a few inches here and there anyway, end up with a bass the size of a whale hanging on my wall.
  13. I have heard that a taxidermist can make a mount with a quality picture and accurate measurements of certain areas of the fish. I do not know where those measurement sites are. Anyway, I understand it is some substantial money to have this done, I would stick with a good picture. PS- Sorry, just reread your post. Not the information you were looking for. So to answer your actual question, I don't know.
  14. I was fishing at night one time, and caught a fish that was so small, I didn't know it was there until I reeled my line all the way in. I guess that would qualify as a "dink". ;D
  15. Of course the other explanation for me getting skunked is that I suck! I was hoping that someone could give me a built in excuse.
  16. I mean from the standpoint that the smell is on my hands and thus ends up on the lure.
  17. I heard somewhere that tobacco was a repellent to fish. Any truth to this? It may explain a lot of skunked days for me. :'(
  18. Thank you. I think you were talking to me.
  19. Sport, hobby, addiction, past-time, whatever you want it to be.
