  1. Thanks for the tip.Just picked up the 2600C
  2. 2500C side by side with a 4500C. You can see the difference in size better.
  3. I've got over 75 reels. It's become an obsession
  4. Thanks Hootie! I've spent a lot of time building these (money too!)
  5. Some of my small Ambassadeurs. My favorite light lure reels. I believe the brake shoes are bakelite,or some other fiber
  6. Some of my small Ambassadeurs. My favorite light lure reels.
  7. Maybe you've heard of the Ambassadeur 1500-2500C Series reel? Been around since "75",designed for fishing light lures.
  8. If all else fails, you could your own reel. Not the cheapest way to go, but it's worth the effort.
  9. 4600C's didn't come out until 1976,but its still s great reel.
  10. Sounds about right. I bought a Palms Molla from them, and the total was less than $200 with shipping.
  11. I replaced all my drive shaft bushings with bearings.
  12. Dual bearing cog wheels, and worm gears already added to my reels. Also needed for the conversion are the spool bearing cushion, and spool centering shim. Part #s are 8720,and 8721.
  13. Just received an update from Jeff Brooks at Boca Bearings. The new replacement bearings for the brass bushings are now available! Model# SMR103.2C-205P58#7LD.These are the correct replacement size for the brass bushings for reels such as the 5000,5000-5500D,and the AL Series models. Can't wait to try them out!
  14. I still use my Phenix boron rods for worms, and finesse fishing. They balance nicely with my Ambassadeurs. Sensitivity has never been a problem a problem with these rods, they're on par with some of the newer Hi-Tech rods that I've gotten in the last few years.
  15. I collect and build Vintage reels. Your Shimano was a good reel back in the day, and it's still a reel that you can enjoy today. I mostly use Vintage Ambassadeurs, but I have a couple of Old Daiwas, and Shimanos. They're not as fancy as the newer reels, but they still catch fish.
  16. Anyone have one of these, or any info? Thanks in in advance
  17. I bought a Palms Molla from Digitaka,I think shipping was about $70,and no Import taxes. Got the rod in about 5 days. Love the rod,it's light, and very sensitive.
  18. http://global.rakuten.com/en/category/sports_outdoor/fishing/ prices fluctuate depending on the exchange rate but pros are, prices are the cheapest, cons are no warranty. You can get a better deal at Japan Lure Shop. Shimano BFS is $286.00,plus the shipping,Digitaka has it for about the same price with free shipping
  19. . I wouldn't drill out the cog wheel myself as there are plenty of them available on the market. I can get my 4500C's to make over 50-60 line guide passes, but for practical purposes it's not what you really need, but the added smoothness, and castability make it worthwhile. The most bearings I have on a reel is 12.
  20. Yes the U.S. market is the Red Headed Stepchild! We don't get all the good stuff like they do in the Asian markets, but I think that will soon change as the market for JDM tackle has been increasing, and more tackle stores are selling JDM tackle. With the popularity of online Japanese Tackle stores,JDM Ambassadeur tackle is now easier to find.
  21. I miss that old goat, may he rest in peace. He cussed me out one time because I used Hot Sauce in one of my reels. He was an old SoCal basser, and we fished a lot of the same waters. Sorry to get off topic, but seeing his name brought back good memories.
