Available has spools for most of the older Ambassadeurs so maybe these might be next? If I were you I'd send an email to Avail asking them if there is any future projects for these reels. No harm in asking,and it would open up another niche in the Ambassadeur tuning market. If they do,I'd have to pick up a few Reels just to try them out. I used Black Maxx Reels back in the day,and they were great little reels. Wish I would have kept a few of them.

Goose52,your 2600 Elite is worth more than than half of your reels! Those Reels are money in the bank. Not to mention they're the best small Ambassadeur ever made. Fortunately I have one too.

I don't have any Fenwick rods,but I do have some Phenix Boron rods with extended handles. I still fish with these rods especially for vertical presentations. These rods balance well with my Ambassadeurs

These handles are a great fit for my 45-4600 Series reels because of the offset. With the newer rods with straight handles,they sit up higher,and are not as comfortable.

Yes,these are Iovino Doodlin' Rods. I also have other Phenix Rods like the M2,Jig n Pig, Crankbait, and Split-Shot. Got a few spinning rods too. My brother worked at Phenix Rods for over 20 years

WRB,I think you may have forgotten about Phenix Rods. They were one of the 1st rod companies to offer technique specific rods. The Doodlin' Rod,Gitzit,Jig n Pig,Crankbait Rod, and a few others.These rods were offered back in the 80's.They also made spinning rods for bass that were far from being "trout rods". They also had Power rated rods such as the L2,M2,H2 etc.Just my 2cents

Since this is an Ultra Cast reel,you can replace the star drag wheel with an offset one, and add a swept handle too. Lightweight line guide,dual bearing cog wheel, and worm gear can also be added. Avail also has a lightweight spool,but I'm not sure if it will fit this reel. You can contact Avail for fitment info. Carbontex drag washers,and better bearings would also be a good upgrade.

I have over 70 Ambassadeurs. I think they're pretty good Reels lol!

I Haven't tried it out yet,but it feels light, and balances well with the Conquest. I really like the 2016 Speed Tip,and Criffhanger,but the extra length is nice. Wish Megabass would make a more moderate action rod for BFS applications.
