  1. Is that house for sale? Would be great to walk out your back door and catch some like that after work.

Hope you did not thumb that Pike. :-?Great Job
  3. I fished Clinton about three weeks ago and the lake was high and muddy, Fishing was brutal. Check this for updates. www.larrysfishinghole.com
  4. Lighting and graphite makes a bad combination. I always pull off the lake if lighing is present. Not worth the risk. Rain, thunder and some wind I will stick it out. Had some of my best days in rain.
  5. In Springfield you have Lake Sprinfield and Sangchris which is east of Decatur. When in Champaign you might try Clinton Lake. Keep in mind that Sangchris and Clinton are cooling lakes. These lakes are arm type reserviors so you will have a cool side and hot side. This time of year the cool side will be in the Mid 80's. The first do adapt but you will have to work for them.
  6. This is odd. I thought the same untill this past Saturday. I was fishing with my partner. He fished exclusively topwater and I fished C-Rigs and T-Rigs. Never exprerienced this but he caught 6 and I caught 10. This was a clear quarry lake with visiblity to about 16-18 feet. Never have experieced both top and bottom bite at the same time. He has been killing them on topwater this year in the upper Mid-West.
  7. This is my go to line for T-Rigs. Has helped me to increase my hookups. I agree this line works much better with line conditioner.
  8. Tragic loss, he and his family will be in my prayers.
  9. I have a Spectra AFT, Model SPC661MHAFTX. Not a bad rod lower portion of the handle can be removed to allow for different length of handle.
  10. Sorry to here that, hope you work this out, we will pray for you, I think you need the passion to throughly enjoy. Take a breather and good luck.
  11. YOU MEAN THE BARS CLOSED ALREADY? If just got here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D
  12. Way to go, good to see the kids on the lake.
  13. What is a thumb knob?????As a reel service tech I wish that all anglers would take the time to read the parts list for their reels and learn the proper wording for each part. I am assuming your talking about the crank paddles.. Sorry RM I did mean the handle FYI, the so called bearing whine isn't in fact bearings, but the Infinite ACS braking system. It has and will always cause a whine when in high speed rotation on the beginning of a cast. As the blocks in the system become more rounded (the shape of the brake race) they tend to not sound off as much (break in so to speak). The reason it isn't bearings is that the Polymer-stainless hybrid PT bearing system used for spool support are proprietary poly coated (means only Quantum has them), and built to tighter tolerances than most stock "Stainless" bearing packs, they don't break in. Just my .02¢ from the bench.. Tight Lines & Enjoy The new Reel!
  14. At least you found out you were not lost.
  15. I second the Stradic, I also have owned one for about three years. If you have the extra cash to spend I would consider it.
  16. I have a Code that I bought from a member, do not know how it compares with the Burst but the Code at $ 79.95 I believe is a sell. Very good reel, I owuld expect that the price may go up next year. Maybe the Burst is of equal quality.

Uh to be young and dumb!
  18. JT I do not know if you know about this link but does have some info on Spring Lake. http://www.larrysfishinghole.com/spots.html
  19. This is interesting, I like Ballpark Frank was primarily a crankbait fisherman along with my partner. Early last year I started T-rigging and using other plastics. My catch ratio did increase some but most importantly size increased. My partner Old Cranky has been fishing for 60 years, last 10 cranking and still will not go to plastics but he is consistant. Essentially I believe confidence plays into this equation a bit. I caught my personal best on plastics. Being a Northern fisherman I could not brake the 5 lb mark on a crankbait but now have tickled the 7 lb mark.
  20. What's going on with the flooding Is teh Army Corp not monitoring this. I fished it twice last year and have wanted to go back but with this flooding I do not know.
  21. Great bait, try the Red Crawfish also. I caught more Bass on these and Wiggle Warts then any other crank.
  22. Best way to keep a young lad out of trouble, good job Dad!
  23. I am a President of a small company and do not have a degree. A business management degree will serve more purposes then just owning your own business. In the manufacturing sector in which our company is part of, it is changing to the point that companies are being bought out by either private investors or larger companies. These folks do need someone to run their company. You do not necessarily have to own your own company to manage one and make a good living. I think you should consider this type of degree, most importantly follow your passion, when all else fails this will not. GOOD LUCK and much success, get to college and enjoy.
  24. JT, I have never fished Spring Lake but do business with folks down in that area who have asked me to fish it. They claim it is one of the best Bass Lakes in the area bar none. What they tell me is if you like frog fishing this is the lake for you. I stopped to take a look once about two years ago in early spring. There was still some overnight ice on the edges in early morning and was shocked on how clear it was. If it stays that clear I am sure the lily pads will make a difference. These folks claim the the early morning bite is good and evening bite and some claim they caught bass in the 8 lb range. Hope this helps.
