I bought the MBR 7' about a month ago. I saw these in person at the Classic Expo in February and was quite impressed. I played around with them a little bit at the Expo. It's been a pretty good rod so far. Light, sensitive and has a slightly softer tip which in my opinion is a good thing on quick hooksets. I've got a Revo Premier sitting on it. It's a good set-up and balances out fairly well. I'll probably order a Mag Strike spinning rod next to see what they're all about. American Rodsmiths makes some good rods, they just don't spend a pile of money on advertising to get the word out.

I always had thoughts that LSU brought their own refs to the games. Now I have proof.

My guess would be that a light bulb went out at a refinery somewhere and they had to shut down for a week to change it, thus creating a false gas shortage to further gouge the American public. And you know the old saying...."All good things must come to an end".

Thanks for all the recommendations. I've narrowed it down to 2. I just left the Fenwick website and the Elite Tech Target/Spinnerbait rod looks like exactly what I need. I still have a certain Loomis in mind though, so we'll see. I could've avoided all this if I hadn't broken that old Browning I had for so long. It was like losing a good friend. THAT rod was sweet and I believe it was only around $50 bucks way back when I bought it.

As of now I am officially accepting bribes. NOT!

Thanks for all the suggestions, I've been looking at lots of different rods. My main problem, as I said, is finding a rod thats longer than 6' that has a somewhat shorter handle that will alow me to underhand and roll cast. The longer handles just don't get it. The Loomis Smallmouth rods are looking like they need some 'in hand investigation'. They look to have shorter than normal handles. If you can think of anymore, let's hear it.

Winter is the reason I own jigging spoons. I plan to fish thru the winter as usual.

I had an old Browning spiral graphite rod that I used for spinnerbaits for 15+ years. It was 6'6" MH but the handle was noticeably shorter than anything made today. The shorter handle allowed for underhand and roll casting when throwing under docks and over-hangs which I do a lot. The rod was perfect for that. I snapped it in half this spring and ever since, I havent been able to find anything even close to that old Browning unless its 6' or less. Everything 6'6" + has the longer handle and I just cant get used to them for the kind of casting I do. Any suggestions of rods I should look at? What do you use as a spinnerbait rod?

This is exactly the point everyone is missing. WOO HOOO! Gas is $3 a gallon....BIG DEAL. We're still being gouged. Badly. Does anyone know what the barrel prices were before this whole mess got started? I remember pump prices being around $1.59 or so one week, then less than two weeks later pump gas was over $3. It jumped so fast that none of the gas retailers in town had any 3's to put up on their signs. Pathetic.

Red River Rivalry = Must See TV. I don't like either team but I'll definitely be watching the game. I guess I'll get on the OU wagon since I picked them to win it all this year. And if Texas doesn't crash the party for OU, Missouri might just do it.

No, I think they were just role playing. That would explain it too.

The only 'foolproof' way to tell what the arches are is to catch whatever it is under the boat or drop an underwater camera down and take a look. Otherwise, you're really just guessing. I'd rather see big pods of shad in a particular area than one or two fish on the screen.

The thing is that Elite XC has just started and they're pretty much just signing whoever they can at this point. One sided matches will be common for a while and they may look fixed at times. Watching a UFC event is much more entertaining because the fighters are more evenly matched. If you want to see some really good fights, try to watch some of the WEC fights on Versus. WEC is good stuff.
