How often do you upgrade or buy new rods and reel?
MOD NOTE: Let's not turn this into a "brand war" because that's not what it is.

Good Deep Diving Crankbait Reel
I use the Fritts crankin' reels from BPS. Best $59.99 I've ever spent. That Lew's BB19GS is a good one too.

Best Spinning Reel for under $100
No. I currently have 4 of the Supreme reels. (3-8035MG's and 1-8030MG). I have not had any issues with any of the 4 I own. In fact, I caught 2 stripers that were right in between 8# & 10# each 2 weekends ago on one of the 8035's that is spooled with 8# and the drag held up just fine.....it stayed consistently smooth thru both battles. Both fish were landed.

I hear you LBH. I'd like to stick with something for a long time, thats my goal but I don't manage that goal very well. When I bought all the Revo's last year I had envisioned that I'd be using them for alot of years but yesterday's experience with the new Premiers kicked that idea right out the door.

These are supposed to be clones of the Basstrix Paddle Tails....just wondering if anyone has used them yet. I'll be able to get my hands on some next week.

How often do you upgrade or buy new rods and reel?
Over the past few seasons it seems that I am constantly buying or selling rods and reels just to buy something else that catches my eye or peaks my interest and its getting rather expensive. A fine example would be like yesterday. We were traveling back from visiting family and I decided to swing by this "out of the way" tackle shop. I started looking to see if I could find a Revo Premier, just so I could handle one and check it out. He had one and when he handed it to me I immediately started taking inventory of what I needed to get rid of to load my rod locker with these Premiers. I have a pile of STX's already and they are great reels but I already know I'll be selling all of them to buy these Premier's. Anyone else go thru this type of thing?

Heisman Picks
Update on Colt Brennan. Hawaii is still undefeated after handling Boise St last night. Brennan was 40-53 for 495 yards and 5 TD's. He passed Ty Detmer on the all time TD list and now sits with 126 career TD's.

How'd ya do this year?
This was a decent season in the Top Gun format club that I'm in. We have a 10 tournament season covering 4 different lakes and we use a point system to determine the overall winner adding up the points from your best 8 finishes and throwing out your two worst finishes. I only fished 6 tournaments and had come in 4th overall when the smoke cleared. Well, I fished 7 but took a DQ in one and got 0 points in that one. Otherwise, I had a 3rd (would've been 2nd but had a dead fish), a 6th, a 12th and to finish the season I had 3 straight wins. In the team format club that I fish with a good buddy, we finished 3rd overall. Same points deal but we only fish 6 tournaments. We had one win, two seconds, a 5th, a 6th and an 8th. It was a decent year and I'm looking forward to 2008.

Tail Spinners
The Lil George is very effective this time of year where I'm at. I will cast it into the shad pods and just let it free-fall all the way to the bottom, then yo yo it back to the boat. If I dont get any bites like that, I will go to a more horizontal retrieve and burn it back. Dont give up on it, its a great fall season bait when all the bass are chewin' on those 2"-3" shad.

Some of my new work
Yep, that sunfish skirt looks like a certified killer! There is a guy here in town that makes some skirts similar to those but they dont seem to be that dark....he calls them "coppernose bluegill". I like the looks of your pattern better. Nice job man. Hook a brother up! Oh yeah, I really like that wide gap shaky head, let me know if you go to sell those. I'll take some of them and a few of the skirts.

deep cranking
Once the water around here gets below 45 or so, I get out the jigging spoons and put the deep cranks away....and believe me, that is a very tough thing for me to do.

Shimano V Rods...
They are nice rods. Very light, sensitive and well built. I think they only made 2 runs of them after the Loomis/Shimano deal went down. The rods have the Shimano name on them but they were indeed built at the Loomis factory in Washington state. The jury is still out about what kind of blanks were actually used for the V rods so who knows?? I wish I could find a couple more.

Welcome! Take off your coat and stay a while.

Livewell Size?
I have twin 22 gallon tanks in my Gambler. They are surely deep enough but they are narrow and the bigger fish have a hard time turning around in them. I would like them a little wider and sacrifice some of the length. More square than rectangle I guess. I'd go square if you can.
