  1. Yeah, the open tournaments can be fished by anyone although they might have some minmum boat/motor and/or insurance requirements you have to meet to get in. Some may be a little expensive to enter for a first timer but hey, if you can catch a few good fish, you might just get that money back at the end of the day.
  2. Great article there Wayne, lots of good info flyin around.
  3. 6 lanes open at Wal Mart's around here is during the busiest times....just like the DMV, 100+ people waiting and 6 or 7 lanes open. Its not uncommon to have a 3 hour trip to the DMV. I try to do everything online now if at all possible.
  4. That sounds like a great idea. It had to be hard staying away for that long when it meant that much to you and your life and I'm sure the kids that you'll be helping out will be happy to have you around. Looks to be a win-win situation for both sides.
  5. DMV and Wal Mart are very similar......25 checkout lanes but only 6 are open.
  6. Yep, you had one of the 8035MG's. The 8030MG is just a little smaller and obviously doesnt hold as much line.
  7. Sorry to hear about the bad time you are having lately. I know that you are a strong enough person and you've certainly got the right attitude to pull through anything you'll ever encounter. I hope things start looking up for you soon.
  8. Casting: Kistler Helium LTA 7' MH Spinning: Kistler Helium LTA 6'6" M
  9. Obviously Burley felt the extreme quality of the Supreme 8035MG.
  10. Here's my pick. Colt Brennan QB Hawaii (8-0) 2007 stats thru 8 games: 225/328 for 2820 yds....26 TD / 11 INT If his career ended right now: PASS COMPLETIONS: 981 PASS ATTEMPTS: 1402 PASSING YARDS: 12,670 Brennan may be a Heisman long shot because he plays for Hawaii but with numbers like that I think he should at least get mentioned. I know career stats dont matter but just for the 2007 season he'll most likely have over 4,000 yds passing and close to 40 TD's. Not bad.
  11. Speaking of Timmy Horton and catching doubles.....anybody remember the BassMaster cover with him on the front holding twin 5# smallmouths he caught on a DD22?
  12. This is just my opinion but I think Shula's just getting the ball rolling early in case the Patsy's do go undefeated. He and the rest of the 72 Dolphins are sweating bullets right now.....and in reality, you could put an asterisk beside the 72 Dolphins also because they only won 15 or 16 total games that year. New England will have to win 19 in all to have an undefeated season.....and alot can happen in 3 extra games. The Patsy's being busted this year was real. They cheated. As someone said before, why would Belicheat and the Patriots organization be fined if they had not been cheating? And this year wasnt the first time they had been accused of it. Green Bay last year claimed they were stealing signals from them but thats about as far as it went. It is what it is....they got busted, they paid the fines, life goes on and they just keep on thumping a different team every week. The sad part is that they dont even have to cheat.....especially to beat the Jets. Come on.
  13. That would be me. YOU, my friend, need to try out the Lamiglas SR705R. I have handled the Skeet rod before, its a nice rod no doubt but I'm good with what I've got already. No complaints here.
  14. Burley, you forgot to mention that we were only on the water for a little over an hour.....but you got the cold part right!!
  15. Glenn mentioned these when he returned from ICAST this year. There's a thread around here somewhere....
  16. I prefer glass rods. Its just a personal preference type of thing. I came up crankin' with glass rods and just never changed or went for the composite or blended rods. As Grandpa always said, "No need to fix something that aint broke". I live by that rule everyday....just ask the wife.

Heck yeah! I heard a few years back that Bassin' magazine uses mounted fish in alot of their cover pics, it would be a nice change to see a live bass on one of those covers!
  18. I know Weis has a solid set of blueprints for a 10 win team but he's missing a few key tools in his toolbox. Like a QB, an offensive line, a defensive line, FG kicker, etc....

Yeah, thats one of the better pics that I've seen you take.....and I really dig that canoe set-up, them 'ol bass dont have a chance do they?
  20. Fall is a bad time to try to gauge a "good turnout" , fishing-wise. Maybe hunting. There are lots of guys who stop fishing once hunting season starts no matter what the weather is doing or if the fish are still biting. I'm not trying to discourage anyone because I think its a good idea, the timing may be wrong though....but we can still try it.
  21. I'm game. I was at Kerr 3 weeks ago for a club tournament, water was way down (8-10')....caught about 30 fish during the tournament but only had 4 all day that stretched over 14". It was a real dink marathon.....but I got bit constantly all day long. Gaston is awesome. Havent been there since June though. If you want to do it, I'd do it pretty soon, this weather wont last much longer. You talkin' tournament or just a simple get together?
  22. Notre Dame is terrible. Charlie Weis isnt looking like the savior that ND was hoping he would be.....at least not yet. And he's got a LONG way to go. Congrats Navy!
  23. Welcome to the forums! I live in Roanoke and fish the New River a few times each year along with Claytor Lake. Its hard to leave Smith Mtn to travel that far but I do it. Lots of good fish in the river.....we have another member here, "Craw" who fishes the NR a couple times a week....he's been AWOL for a while but he's still fishin', I do know that.
  24. I think there should be more one fish tournaments everywhere. I guess Cali is an appropriate starting point. Of course in states not as fortunate as Cali, a 5 pounder would take home the cash.....but, most everybody would have their limit ;D and the weigh-ins would be intense! Culling would be 5 times easier too!
