Bass Tracker Project Boat
I have a very similar boat, except that mine is a 15.5', and you will have no problem at all standing up fishing. My boat can feel a little tippy if you have two people fishing and you both take a step to the same side at the same time. I don't think you could capsize it if you tried, but you could definitely lose your balance and end up in the drink. I always keep the front seat in so that I have something to help keep my balance. I've had times where the trolling motor was pointing the opposite direction than I remembered, and I wasn't paying attention when I stepped on the on switch...I haven't taken any swims, but I've been close. I'm sure it was funny to watch. You will not regret that purchase.

I love it when Kobe gets clowned.
Anyone who doesn't think Lebron is full of himself isn't looking very objectively. Just listen to his interviews where he compares himself with MJ, or take a look at the tatoo on his back. You think he may have an inflated view of himself?

A Shoutout for NH Fishermen!!!
66-68F? I didn't realize the water would be that warm at this time of year. Is that typical?

some Classic "pros" are busch league.
Does anyone have any actual evidence that letting the fish touch the carpet will kill them? Just curious. Post a link.

How use a to Bait caster
I tried using a baitcaster several years ago, but gave up quickly because I didn't know what I was doing and was sick of playing with knots in my line instead of fishing. I can understand that, with practice, one can overcome the hassle. What I don't understand is, why do so many people choose to use baitcasters? What is the advantage over the spinning reel? From what I have read, it seems to come down to preference, but why go through the hassle of learning the technique? Why do you guys who use baitcasters prefer them?

What depth were the majority of the fish at?

Bow Lake, NH
I went over to Bow Lake for a few hours last night....nothing. I threw the whole arsenal and didn't get anything. I've fished there before and caught nice largemouth and smallmouth, but the past few times I've been have been pretty slow. Did you end up getting over there Tony?

7wt fly rod build
Nice work Eddie. I have a fly rod on which one of my line guides tore out of the wrap. Do you know what is commonly used over the wraps (epoxy, poly, glue etc..)? I'd like to remove the old guide and install a new one, but I'm not sure how to take off the old wrap without damaging the rod, and I'm not sure what to use for the new wrap. It seems like whatever you "glue" the wrap with would have to be flexible so it doesn't crack when the rod flexes. I know this is a bit off topic, but it is obvious that you have a good handle on how to do nice wraps.

A Shoutout for NH Fishermen!!!
I was messing around with my depth finder the other day, trying to located structure a little deeper than I normally fish. I hooked into what I thought was a bass, but when I got it up to the boat, it turned out to be a 14" yellow perch. I would guess it was a little better than a pound. I could not believe how big this thing was. Anyhow, not much bass lately for me, but definitely the perch catch of a lifetime.

Springfield King-Pin Pedestal Wobble
Yeah, they were both Springfield. I was really surprised though, by how much it moved. I guess it is amplified because the pedestal is tall, but I knew I would be annoyed by it so I took it back. Do you like the swivel-eze? What style pole/base did you get? Thanks for the reply.

Springfield King-Pin Pedestal Wobble
I just purchased a king-pin posi-lock pedestal seat and base last weekend from Cabelas. I was really disappointed with how much the pedestal wobbled once it was installed. Is this normal? Do any of you have a stand up style pedestal that sits firmly when installed?

A Shoutout for NH Fishermen!!!
If you are going out in the morning, don't worry about it. How many lightening storms have you seen in NH in the morning? It's always the afternoon/evening. I feel your pain though, because late afternoon/evening is when I get my opportunities to go out....so I haven't been out too much lately.

New Jon Boat Project!
Unless you know someone who will weld for free, it would be a whole lot more expensive to weld the frame. How did you attach the deck to the frame?

I'm not sure they allow you to have a boat while you are in prison.

Fly fishing for bass? what flies do you use?
Simon, I would try a couple more things before you drop the dough on an overpriced Orvis know it all. 1. It sounds like you may be trying to cast a little too much line. Practice casting shorter distances and see if things improve. 2. You may be casting too heavy of a fly for the 6 weight rod. Try practicing with a smaller fly (like a hornberg or mickey finn). Once you get your technique down, you will be able to cast heavier flys, but it is harder to do if you don't have the technique first. 3. Be patient when you are casting. Pull your line back, and watch and wait for it to uncurl behind you. When the line is almost completely uncurled, throw it forward. You don't need to put a lot of effort into this, particularly if you are casting shorter distances (like about 40'). Like vic said, just have fun with it. You are obviously committed to getting it right, and you will pretty soon.

NH question
I've heard that Moore Reservoir up in Littleton is loaded with smallmouth. I have been meaning to get up there for a while, but haven't had the chance.

A Shoutout for NH Fishermen!!!
jaystaw - are you wacky rigging those senkos? what size? I went out for a few hours this morning on Bow Lake. I saw 7 or 8 LM cruising around, and a couple in the act, but none of them wanted anything I was throwing (senkos, rattle-trap, rapalas, spinner bait, etc...). It was pretty windy, but nice to get the boat on the water again.

Pedestal Seat Options
Good info. Is there any appreciable quality difference between Springfield and Swivel-Eze? Also, do any of you know where I could just get some 1.77" aluminum tube? It seems like it is an odd size.

Pedestal Seat Options
Thanks. Does anyone else have anything they recommend to purchase and/or stay away from?

Pedestal Seat Options
I'm in the process of purchasing a pedestal seat for my boat, and I'm not sure what to get. My current setup is a 15.5' bass tracker with fold-down style seats on about 13" posts. I almost never sit down while fishing, but I like to have the seat in so I have something to steady myself when I am on the trolling motor or if the boat is rocking around. It's saved me from going in the drink a few times. I like the Springfield king-pin posi-lock set up, but it comes threaded or unthreaded. Will the unthreaded spin in the base, or is there some other mechanism to keep it from doing that? Also, how important is the seat that you get? Do you really sit on it, or just kind of lean up against it? Any insight into what's out there, good/bad quality etc. would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
