What I do at work
Here is a video of a 20 cylinder EMD (Electro Motive Division) diesel engine. The one in the video is a generator, I work on ones in tugboats from time to time. Each cylinder is 645 cubic inches. Multiply that by 20 cylinders, that's 12,900 c.i.d. They are 2 cycle engines. Top RPM is 900. The tug engines are 3600 horsepower each, there are two engines in a 135' tug. The high pitch whistle you hear in the video is the turbocharger. It takes two air starters to turn it over. These engines are also widely used in freight locomotives, but usually in 12 or 16 cylinder versions.

^^^^ What he said. I got mine for $500 last year during a Memorial day sale at Dick's. Came with already mentioned rod holders, seat and anchor w/ rope. All you need beyond that is a paddle and a PFD.

Some funny 80's cheese
There used to be a game show called "Make Me Laugh". The premise was simple. Contestants got $1 a second for not laughing while comedians tried their hardest to crack them up. There were three comedians, each one had one minute to work over the contestant. This lady is funnier than the comics...

Looking for a Good Western
I know I'm gonna get ripped for this, but 'Tombstone' doesn't cut it for me. It strikes me as cartoonish. The hair and clothes are too neat and clean. I know people took baths back then, but my vision of the old West is dirtier and grittier. Everyone is too good looking. If you ever saw old prints of western life, there were some ugly sob's back then. The men were no treat either... Ok, got my asbestos suit on. Let 'er rip....

Ordered my birthday present! (Okuma citrix reel)
Okuma has somewhat of a cult following. I've handled some of their reels and they did not seem too bad. Fish Chris was a hardcore Okuma user for years. Happy Birthday. When you blow out the candles, wish for an early Spring 8-)

Had this arguement with a buddy at BPS the other day...
Let me play the Game warden for a second here. Fishing a private water without permission. Do you have a valid fishing license ? Trespassing.... Better hope the judge is not an outdoorsman..

Buying question
When you are in the market for anything fishing related, how much does an endorsement by someone famous play into your decision ? Me personally, it's zero. I'm admittedly somewhat cynical by nature. I have no particular beef with pros endorsing a product, business is business. I often wonder if companies can accurately determine which segment of their sales can be attributed to having a 'pro' hawking a product. It amazes me when, for example, KVD wins a tourney with a Strike King lipless crank and they fly off of the shelves, as if that particular bait will suddenly put fish in your boat. The bait was the right tool for that situation. An hour later it could have been a Mr. Twister grub on a wally world jighead that did it. This isn't a knock on Strike King or KVD, they were just examples.

looks like i'll be checking this one out I knew 'graphic violence' would get 'im...

Looking for a Good Western
The Wild Bunch. If you like graphic violence, this one is for you. Awesome cast. Several Oscar nominations and controversial when released for the violence. Ernest Borgnine is a tough guy's tough guy. Can't go wrong with any of the Clint flicks. Tossup between Outlaw Josey Wales and Unforgiven.

White Death IV
My kids used to say the same thing, until they realized that in order to meet the State minimum of school days per school year, they had to stay later into June at the end of the year.

your thoughts on the potential nfl lockout.
1) No pro sport owner or athlete gives two **its about you. Your money, now that's a different story... 2) The players union has been advising rookie players for years about wisely investing their money. A majority of them ignore it and end up broke anyway. You deserve to work at a car wash if you had that kind of opportunity and chose to live in a big *** 'crib' and have 11 vehicles in the driveway. Go sleep under a bridge, moron. I like sports, but I don't live and die by them. I'd rather have the lake to myself while everyone is watching the game. Now hockey playoffs are another story.

She made it !!
The city of Camden has the Brimm Medical Arts Academy. We live in Camden County, she'll be in the Camden County Technical School. She can potentially carry 16 credits into college. There's many fine medical schools around here. If she does well, who knows where she will end up ? BC, yes we had to fill out an application, plus she had to write an essay and get letters of recommendation from two teachers. Also had to submit past report cards and state testing results. I will say this, this school is nothing like the Vocational School (that's what it used to be called) when I was growing up. Back then all of the area schools used to dump the so called 'unteachable' kids there. Now if you have any disciplinary marks on your record, they will not admit you.

Stolen Shovel Revenge
I would have set up a lawn sprinkler set to mist next to her car. That thing would have been encased in about 4 inches of ice by the time she got to it. No harm, no foul.. 8-)

She made it !!
Back in October we started the application process for our oldest daughter to get into our county's technical high school's Medical Arts Academy. They only accept 15 freshmen per school year. My wife called me today at work, crying her eyes out. She had just opened the acceptance letter. She will be spending most of her school week at a college campus. Two days a week will be at the school itself for English, math, phys ed, etc. They will also travel to medical facilities and hospitals in our area. One cool thing on the agenda is they will observe an actual operation taking place and, from the theater, be able to ask the surgeon and staff questions via wireless technology. The best thing is that it is part of our public school system. It's not 'free', no school is, but there is no additional cost to us besides scrubs (in lieu of uniforms) and a laptop. She would kill me if she knew about this post as she hates a big fuss being made about her. Too bad....

Halftime show...
I resemble that remark! How 'bout someone new and on top of their game? I'm thinking Katy Perry would have been perfect. You don't even have to like her music, but she's nice to look at and her hits are up-beat, fast paced and just plain fun...Even for country fans and old farts! : Whew. I read this reply quick and thought for a split second he wrote - - t s instead of 'hits'.... ;D That would have worked also. get....mind.....out...of....gutter....
