  1. Have a Lews Speed Spool tournament pro that's giving me some issues. Every once in a while, when I make a max effort max cast the spool will instantly stop when the lure is in mid air. There's no backlash, spool is dis-engaged; spool just instantly stops. I took out the spool and couldn't find any debris or sand particles. What internal could cause this? I was thinking the spool bearing but it seems fine.
  2. Power pole hands down. Had power pole on my previous boat and had zero issues with it, always stuck and held me in place 100% of the time. My partner has an 8ft talon on his rig and it was awesome when he first got it but now it'll hold about 95% of the time, depending what type of bottom you're on. There's a pin that goes from the fiberglass spike to the aluminum square shaft and sometimes it will get dirt/ sand in it and wont deploy fully. You have to retract and deploy again.
  3. Anyone use this for nonskid boats: http://www.***.com/BoatBuckle_Rod_Tie-Down_Systems/descpage-BTBKROD.html
  4. Was wondering what everyone does about on deck rod storage for bay/ flats boats? Looking for a product that I can screw/blue onto my bay boat deck so I can store rods ontop of the front deck that maybe uses velcro straps or something similar?
  5. Ahh, didn't even think about that Thanks
  6. Quick question how do you reference gloomis's 3 model numbers (ex 894) with the corresponding rod? I understand the last number is the power of the rod but don't see what the first two are for? With brands like Dobyns, first 2 are length and 3rd is power. Am I missing something?
  7. Anyone carve any pumpkins this year? My failed attempt:
  8. Fished Lox today as well, first boat out Only 4 measly fish caught on the boat I was on. Didn't seem crowded at all, maybe 15ish boats when we got back at 12. Did anyone notice the tow truck and the mercedes pulling an airboat trailer heading west on the levy? We got to our spot at 6:20 and noticed that a flare was shot but only caught it right before it disappeared.
  9. Awesome video as always Shane, surprised we haven't run into each other yet out at Lox. Did you have a drift sock on the gheenoe, was barely moving with those winds.
  10. What video mode do you usually record in?
  11. Had the opportunity to go out on a friend's airboat for a relaxed morning ride. Also got to test out the go pro's capabilities, pretty nifty camera; didn't have the right mount to mount it on top of the cage. To the mods, should have an outdoor photography/ videography section....please!
  12. There's a hog in each one of those pics =)
  13. Good looking fish! I might hit up Lox again next weekend.
  14. Haven't been to Lox since late March, when the water was ridiculously low and the gators and mudfish were rampant. Word on the street was that the water was way up, so I decided to fish Lox on Monday. Water is definitely up and most spots are fishable, was able to get in and out of the flats but not able to find any fish. Was the only boat there and was still only able to manage 1 measly bass, hopefully it'll pick up soon! Enjoy the video:
  15. What about video surveillance? Like at the lox rd ramp, have two time lapse cameras run on solar power, like the inlet cams, at each lot or have one at the entrance? I always expect the worst when going to the truck after a long day of fishing no matter what ramp I use lox, pioneer, ida, etc.
  16. So finishing up my father's travel itinerary for his trip to Sweden and got to his rental car. He's gonna need a rental car for close to 3 months, trying to save him a couple bucks by finding cheaper solutions than just straight renting from a Hertz or something. Came across rent-a-wreck, which rents used/ wrecked cars, which costs a quarter less than the hertz, budgets, etc. Has anyone had any experience with them? The reviews I read were split between 5 and 1 stars. Anyone have any other ideas, a short term lease would be perfect, but haven't found one.
  17. buying rods for all the wrong reasons
  18. killing the retailers...
  19. Which series did you get? They're all chinese junk anyways, a bunch of de-lamination problems with them
  20. Never got my original question answered Anyways barrier was removed from West canal
  21. so are you allowed to be in the canals or not? I don't wanna be in them if I'm not suppose to
  22. So I took the boat out yesterday to make sure the Yamaha was running right ,changed out all the fuel/ micron filters, and was totally confused to see both west and north canals blocked off?? Now I haven't been to Lox in months, last time I was there was when they just had the barge there to work on the seepage issue. I saw boats in both canals so I'm assuming they entered through the canals, is that ok or do they not want anyone running in the canals? If this is the case, I cannot see anyway to head west, I followed outside the canal, which is super sketchy I was hitting bottom running with the jackplate 5" up, and got as far as I could go until it was totally blocked off by weeds, and I still hadn't past the second spill way. Never seen anything like this before and was wondering if anyone could help a brother out.

I would say it deals more with the industry not the popularity. I got one. Bill dance, the spokesperson for penzoil marine?

Oakley, Toyota, Ford, Anheuser Busch, Versus Country?
  25. yes, the talon has the quick disconnect + the 1/2" socket feature. My personal boat has a power pole pro series, while my tournament partner's boat has the talon, so I have logged numerous hours with both. I love both but I favor the pp over the talon. The talon is much cheaper and has more features but that thing scares the crap out of me with all the noises it makes trying to anchor but has never failed. The talon is quicker when deploying but the pp actually grabs quicker. The pp has been proven and the talon is the new kid on the block, but time will only tell.
