  1. Have mine on a dobyns 735, one of my least favorite reels, trying to get it warrantied at the moment.
  2. Have a couple stick jacket's that are too long and are impossible to get off when ever they go over weed guards. Has anyone tried trimming them down, was thinking about cutting them down to size, burning the end with a lighter, then fold back inside? has anyone tried this?
  3. BPS is pretty good good at honoring, they have one of the best customer services in all retail imo. But my life isn't worth the $162
  4. Own a Smoke myself, and have none of the problems that your's has. Love the smoke and is one of the best reels in it's price range imo
  5. STAY AWAY! As fast as I got it is as fast as I returned it. Ordered the Bub Tosh punching rod, utter junk. Epoxy overspray on the grips, guide inserts, and blank. Guides were not position right, every other one was cockeyed, and super tip heavy. Seems like a one armed paper hanger that was blind folded and drunk built the rod. No attention to detail whatsover. Stick with a Dobyns or Powell in that price range
  6. Have the wife do it, problem solved. ;D
  7. The Hp ratings are more for a weight rating than hp and most insurance companies won't cover a rig that is "overpowered". Repowering is a total pita imo. Sell the boat and get something with more horsepower, 7200 bucks for 10 mph or so more is totally not worth it imo.
  8. I don't think it will go through. they will have 74% of cell phone contracts in the US
  9. would've been better if you gained a few bucks than pounds lol. See any of the shows?
  10. It was that time of the month, ya know. Any other day she would've been cracking up with ya.
  11. My very first boat was my Mako 171, taught me a lot about responsibility and seamanship, also had a lot of great memories on it . Not a bass boat but that didn't stop me from taking it on the lake:
  12. stainless or aluminum? A decent prop shop will get it looking like brand new.
  13. I started with toothpicks, then to the strips and now am sticking with bobber stops 3 bobber stops, you're not playing any games son
  14. Yea it's pretty crazy, have you seen the other ones?
  15. It looks like they're mounted with dual adapter plates. That's how I have mine mounted. http://www.jlmarinesystems.com/Itemdesc.asp?ic=PK%2DJ%2D2%2D0%2DS%2DBLK&eq=&Tp=
  16. Being a powerpole owner and having logged many hours on my partner's talon, the only reason I see making the switch is cheaper (Sig Series) and a little bit more features. The powerpole is proven and is backed by one of the best customer service in the industry. That being said, the talon is the new kid on the block and has a lot to prove. So far it has held up pretty well, but scares the hell out of me with all the noises it makes. It's faster deploying/ retracting than my powerpole but it's not always as fast anchoring but the talon does hold better through chop/ boat wake. I'd like to see a talon do this:
  17. how old is the battery? and have you tried another?
  18. I think he's talking about the line that sends the water to your water pressure gauge. And the water pressure is "measured" in he block
  19. He won't need surge brakes with that 185 lol. I look at it this way, it's a toss up if you'll get better mpg with a full size while towing, but you'll definitely get better mpg with a compact when you're not. Which will you be doing more of? What are the current specs of your tow rig?
  20. Lmao you don't go to Vegas to visit the tackle shops! I went this past summer and enjoyed it, even though I was underage, already planning to go back with some friends. Put seeing the Blue Man Group on the top of your list, one of the greatest shows I've seen, also the Gun Shop if you want to shoot a fully automatic rifle. But be warned everything is so inflated, $12 bucks for a foot long.We went to the Grand Canyon in style, DC 130:
  21. x2 What is it about them that makes them so appealing? :-/ If my suspicions are correct, they're built in the same factory as many of BPS' reels, most likely using many of the same parts...yet people on every forum are talking about them like they're something special. I don't get it. They may actually be nice reels, but I believe they may be no better than any of the BPS reels...at a much higher price. Well depends what you judge a reel on. It's drag, weight, castability, finish, price, bearing count, etc. I was drawn to this reel mainly due to its weight and bearing count, along with its price. The way I see it is for 179.99 i'm getting a sub 7 oz reel with a carbon handle, carbon drag, and 10 bearings, not to mention the free tackle bag promo ;D
  22. Looks like i'm ordering one tonight, will compare it with my smoke. Thanks for the help
