no tarpon catching, but i saw one in the canal that was easily 150 I also went to that place Robbies where you hand feed the tarpon and have a nice battle scar from one lol Here is what it is like there…. (not my video)

You may be right, it could be a black grouper. They do look similar. I tossed it back anyways.

Bring a pair of grippers. Most have teeth and the ones that don't can still scrape your hand up. Yes set the hook. On tarpon they have a very bony mouth so you really have to stick them hard. No way to theorize how many you catch. You could load the boat if you find a school or you might not get a bite all day. Have a great time!

I just spent 2 weeks in the Florida Keys and got to do some fishing. I didn't catch many, but I had a great time with my Dad. Few things top spending quality time with Pops doing what we both love. The canal we stayed on was loaded with grouper. I caught a few and each one i caught had several others following them up. These things pull like CRAZY. At first I tried to use my bass rod to land one, but that was an exercise in futility as they are just too tough and the area was to small to allow a fight before they got into holes in the sea wall and broke off or wrapped around pilings. Here are the ones i caught. As awesome as these fish are, I still like bass fishing more. lol

Some recent catches from my favorite farm pond down the road. I have been fishing there for about 7 years and am always amazed at the number of 3-5 pounders in there because the pond is maybe an acre or so in size. I know there is at least one monster in there. I have named her THE ADMIRAL. I have had he bite several times but not a good hook set and I have seen her follow a blue gill crank bait and she looks MASSIVE. These fish were fought on black Cavitron buzz bait (thanks Retiredbosn) and choppers jig and Rage tail craw trailer. BIG-0, these trailers are awesome. Thanks for all your hard work at strike king on producing some AWESOME products.
