  1. Michigan doesnt allow power loading on public ramps. Talk about a huge hassle to get a bass boat on a trailer. The boat floats off the bunks 1/2 the time and gets cattywompus on the trailer. On the lights on the chevy. If its like my truck you can turn the knob to the left and this will turn off the running lights and trailer lights. The knob is tensioned when turned to the left and will spring back but the lights do turn out until the knob is moved or truck is started again.
  2. Is it me getting older and grumpier, or do you guys get extremely frustrated and mad when someone backs their boat down the ramp and then starts undoing everything to launch(this includes the pidling too). Most of the places I fish have a single launch ramp and it just burns me when this happens.
  3. Raul is the creator of this demon. So everytime I buy new fishing tackle I blame Raul. Thats why Raul is one of my good buddies even though I blame him for a lot of useless tackle aquisitions.
  4. I learned this not to long ago and may help some out in detecting those subtle bites. The fishing technique is verticle bottom bouncing a jig. If you learn this technique I garantee you will feel more bites and land more fish. How you ask, this technique teaches you how to stay in contact with your bait and feel your surroundings. If you are not familiar with Bottom bouncing it is done with a tight line and a jig heavy enough to keep the line tight on the fall. I prefer 3/4 oz jig, good quality rod and flourocarbon line. The trick is to keep the line as straight as possible with out letting it bend. If you let the line bend you will never know if you have a bite in 25+ ft of water. Drop the jig all the way to the bottom and tighten up the slack. Then pop the jig off the bottom of the river/lake about 6"-1ft and feel the fall all the way back to the bottom. The bit you get is usually very subtle but can be felt. Try it and see if it helps you in feeling the bait your fishing and increases your catch ratio.
  5. I dont really keep track of it but I dont lose to many fish or mis many. It is lure specific like said above. To take a guess I would say total would be 85-90%. This weekend I will try to keep better track. Just hope its not one of those crazy missing fish weekends.
  6. Whats the water clarity? If the water is clear fish the weedlines or deeper structure. If the water is stained you should be able to catch them in shallower structure or weed lines. Another good place to look this time of year is secondary points or channels next to shallow water or flats.

  8. I wonder how many we have participate or visit regularly.
  9. I figured so, I have the same one and noticed the same thing. That extra collar is where I put the rattles. Works out greate.
  10. Does anyone that pours their own plastics have a fluke mold. What I'm looking for is a fluke style bait that has alot of salt for the weight. Something that sinks as fast if not a little faster then a senko.
  11. One of mine is just the opposite. Fishing to slow. Sometimes I dont know why I just dont move.
  12. I'm going to guess you have a poison jig mold. It is a pain for sure. I do the same as Crackerjack just a dab of vasaline or saliva will fix you up.
  13. stamina, jannsnetcraft, or barlows will have them. They should have the 2 different thickness's of fibers too. Colors are typically brown, black, clear, red, watermelon
  14. Whats your favorite size blades when you make a 3/8,1/2 oz spinnerbait? Also your favorite wire dia. Here is what I have been using 3/8 .032 for the wire willow 4, shaft 3 CO. 5, " 2 1/2 wire .035 willow 4.5, shaft 3.5 Co 5, shaft 3 The main reason I ask is because I am wanting more blade size on the shaft and main blade. Has anyone strapped a 4 or 4.5 willow to the shaft with a 4.5-5 on the back to a 3/8. I'm wondering if it will tumble in the water. Same way with the 1/2 if anyone has bumped that up to a 4-4.5 shaft and a 5 rear blade.
  15. Its down in St. Genevieve MO. One of my favorite places to fish. I've been catching several good fish on each trip lately. My tackle inclued BCR855 30lb braid spro frog chronarch reel. From everyones help I have found that fishing a frog like the spro or other an extremely stiff rod and braid are a must. Once I switched over I havent had a problem hookin'em.
  16. How would you guys approach this? I went with a spro frog. What lure and technique would you use? Water stained Air temp 75 water temp 68 http://www.americananglers.net/gallery/displayimage.php?album=23&pos=1
  17. 6.2lbs I caught off a joes beavit. Hopefully I will catch my goal of 7.5 soon.
  18. Ok guys, what is you largest bass this year and what bait you caught it off of.
  19. I never use snap swivels. It doesnt take much longer to tie a knot then change a swivel imo. I do use swivels for carolina rig and fishing a fluke. I will place the swivel about 18" abouve the lure and this will keep out line twist and add a little more weight to the lure.
  20. mine would be about 27-28lbs. Here are pics of three of them. The pics that you can see sky in. http://www.americananglers.net/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=12 one of them was 6.2 the other 2 were about 5.5. I dont have pics of the other 2 but they were also around 5.5lbs. There were more but you said top 5. I cant tell you exactly where, but the state is Illinois.
  21. Here is the Link http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/finding_smallmouth.html Its well worth reading. There's a mining for smallmouth too that is real good.

I gotta say that is one benifit of being single. When I ask the boss to go fishing I never say no.
  23. Is this a warranty issue? If it is a warranty issue I would say "I dont think so."
  24. You guys are lucky. My baitmonkey socked me for a new Loomis BCR855, some baits from Ghostbaits.com, some baits from Joesjigtrailers, some x raps, gammy hooks, zoom hawgs, and some lures from, kickerfishbait.com, and a few other items I am forgetting.
  25. Your hands always smell like fish
