  1. Most prey that bass feed on in rivers try to swim across the river (on top). Try throwing small topwater hardbaits and weightless plastics. Swim the bait on top and hang on. Wait to feel the weight of the fish on the line before setting the hook.
  2. I have a friend who works at an outdoor sport store. At his house he has a 10 gun gun case. In this case he has nine guns. As long as there is one empty slot in his gun case, his wife won't say a word about the amount of guns he has. He told me that his last count of shotgun, rifle, and handguns was 54. He even keeps some of them under he side of the bed! Out of sight out of mind...
  3. I would loved to have fished with my father one more time before he passed away. We had some great trips together but he was taken from this earth much too soon. Man, the stories he could tell...!
  4. Rapala Original Floater, silver with black back.

I have to agree with Pond Hopper. If it doesn't fish as advertised out of the package, then I will find another company that I can fish their lure as advertised. I don't have time to find out once I get to my fishin hole that my lure has to be baked, cooked, deep fried, or microwaved. My 2 cents worth.
  6. I still throw the Mister Twister 6" Phenom worm. This was the first plastic worm that I learned to throw around 25 years ago. It is my confidence lure. When all else fails this what I use in L.A. (Lower Alabama). My (or should I say the fishes favorite color) is Black with Fire Tail and Motor Oil.
  7. That's how th become "bigguns"
  8. As a 15 year old kid I taught myself to throws a very old Pflueger baitcaster (from my great grandfather's garage back in the mid 70's) with braided fishing line throwing at an empty coffee can in the back yard. A baitcaster is what I feel most comfortable with. I have used spinning reels and I find that I am not as accurate with the spinner as I am with the baitcaster. I have three rods that are 6'6" medium-heavy rods which all have the same brand of reel with different retrieval speeds. I feel I am more accurate with different types of lures because I have the same size rod and reel combo. I just have a minimal adjustment to the lure weight and not the rod and reel difference. I do using different line sizes on each reel. Does this make any sense? Just stick with what you feel comfortable with and throw the the most accurate and and don't keep swapping from spinning to baitcasting to spinning. My 2-cents worth.
  9. Mine is the Mister Twister Phenom Worm, 6" black w/ fire tail #36. This was the first plastic worm that I ever fished 30 years ago.. I have tried others and I keep coming back to what produces for me. THis worm has produce many happy hours of fishing for ME!
  10. For anybody who was wondering...EWG stands for Extra Wide Gap
  11. "I'm really good at what I'm doing, but I not good at everything I do" I said as I thew my spinnerbait into the top of the popcorn tree.
  12. I have been using this log this year and love it. I have saved the log as a GIF file on my computer. When I open it up with MS Picture Manager I can print out 4 copies to a sheet of paper using the 3.5X5 in cutout prints selection . I then fold it up and put the log and a pen in my shirt pocket and make entries as I go throughout the fishing day. After I have four trips on the sheet, I transfer it over to a larger log sheet for future reference. I carry a few blank spares and pens in my tackle box in case I forget to throw one in my pocket.
  13. Very nice bass!
  14. When I met my wife in Albuquerque, New Mexico...I was wearing the exact same shirt! Nice Bream by the way
  15. Well, as the saying goes..."a bad day of fishing is a whole lot better than a good day of work" ;D
  16. I carry a small, stainless steel side cutter (dikes) in my pocket that I picked up from bass pro shops. They are about 5" long were only 5 bucks. I've had to use it once to cut a treble hook out of my finger
