  1. In the May/June edition of FLW Bass Edition, on page 16, there is a way to store rods in a SUV with an extendable clothes storage rod. Looks like it might work but I'm not sure the length of rods you can store above your head. I'll have to make some measurements.
  2. Here's an option if you want to spend a buck or two! http://www.truckvault.com/
  3. Here's what I came up with: http://www.lurelore.com/tigerlure-part1.html There is also one being sold on ebay
  4. Love my crawdads!!
  5. check out ebay for some good deals...I got mine for about half the price than whats listed on the website
  6. Here is a good tip that I found really helpful on getting rid of a backlash without cutting line. Give it a try...It has worked for me
  7. This is what I'm currently using. I can fit a small box of 9 crankbaits, a couple pack of plastics, hooks, worm weights, tape measure, weight scale, needlenose pliers, and a couple of jerkbaits with hook bonnets installed. I can hand carry it or strap it around my waist. This is what works for ME. http://www.maxpedition.com/store/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=4&idproduct=26
  8. Why no color coordinate your tackle with your lures...Sexy Shad Reel! http://thetacklesmith.webs.com/apps/photos/photo?photoid=25099961
  9. Thanks for all the replies. The one on ebay for $119 is the one that caught my eye. I swung by BPS today after work to see if they had one I could handle and they didn't. I played with the Patriarch, the Curado 200E7, and the BPS Pro Qualifier. All nice reels but I guess I have it in my head that I want to see what a Summit feels like. Anyway I'm in no hurry and still thinkin'...
  10. I'm looking for a high speed reel and the Pflueger Summit has caught my eye. Anybody have any experience with this reel. It has a Revo profile which I was given one at Christmas. All pros and cons are welcome. Thanks.
  11. Ok..heres what I did last week. I swung by BPS and picked up some of their Bass Pro Shops® XPS® Lazer Eye Nitro Extreme® Shallow Crankbaits for 25% off. I hit a local pond 15 acre the next day and proceeded to catch fifteen LMB in a two hour time frame. The largest one was 3lb 6oz. This is the first time I had fished this lure and it was fun!. I was using a 5.3:1 Ryobi AD5000 with 12 lb Stren Mono. It was mid-day and a cold front was moving through later that night. With a slow retrieve, the lure was running just under the surface with a slight wake being left behind it. I went back this week and picked up a few more plus some of the Bomber Square A cranks that BPS has on sale. Shallow water crankin' will be what I go to first this year.

Are you talking about these... http://www.psfish.net/product.sc?productId=2547
  13. I handled a couple at BPS and I guess I'm not a big fan of the split handle. Just didn't look and feel right. I guess I like a lot of cork. My next rod purchase will probably be a St Croix, just not the Mojo.
  14. Bass Pro has David Fritts crankbait reels on sale for $69.94. There is a 4.7:1, a 5.2:1, and a 6.3:1 ratio reel to choose from. The two lower speeds have a dual pawl anti-reverse system while the 6.3:1 reel has a PowerLock instant anti-reverse. Here is a article I found about where David Fritts explains why he doesn't like the instant anti-reverse.
  15. I have a few that I took the hooks off and use them as practice plugs for honing my casting skills.
  16. A Polamar knot. make sure to wet the knot when cinching it down
  17. Not sure if they stock them at your Walmart but I've bought a few of the Quantum Tour Edition 6'6" , medium rods. This is what I use as a crankbait rod. They also stock 6'6" MH, and 7' MH. My WM price is 41.94 per rod. My personal preference are these rods.
  18. Now I have always assumed that it imitates a crawdad. I have better luck with this color in stained and muddy water than clear.
  19. How can you clean reels when then Daytona 500 is being run on this sacred Sunday!
  20. If I install a longer handle on my 5.0:1 crankbait reel, I know that it will give me more leverage, but will the handle increase the speed that I will retrieve the crankbait or does slow it down? Does my reel become a 5.1:1 or even more than that? I would think that since the distance from the centerline of the handle to the centerline line of the handle knob increased, then my rotations would become slower than with a shorter handle reel and I would have to increase the rate of the handle speed to make the lure run at the same speed as the shorter handle. Does that make sense? Help!!
  21. Micro...did you purchase the reel from *** or did you get it through the Demo program? Just wondering how that works.
  22. The Pocket Fisherman :-/
  23. I bet if someone wins the Bassmaster Classic this year slow crankin on a 4.7:1 name brand reel, and consumers start screaming for this particular reel, then you'll see more companies producing lower speed reels. I would like to see a company produce a reel with exchangeable gears so you can speed up or slow down your favorite reel.
  24. My brother-in-law won a new A-G Revo S at his Christmas party. While talking about a fishing trip this coming weekend he ask if i wanted the Revo; to keep! Heck yea!! After getting it home and taking it out of the box, I noticed when I turned the handle that the reel would make slight clicking noise and the spool shifted back and forth within the frame. I tightened the mechanical brake knob a turn or two and this cured the spool shifting. The clicking noise was still there. I dis-assembled the reel, cleaned all the parts, re-lubed, and put the reel back together. Still clicking. I pulled the left side of the reel off and took a look at the centrifugal brakes. There are six plastic brakes that slide on six retainer pins. Four of the brakes were secured toward the middle part of the spool and not movable. Two of the brakes were able to slide back and forth on the retainer pins. I pushed the two loose brakes toward the middle of the spool and secured them (not moving). After putting the side plate back on and giving the handle a turn, Shazam!!, no clicking noise. Just to make sure, I removed the side plate again and slid the brakes outward and the clicking noise was there. For now they are all secured and once I put line on the reel I'll give it a try this weekend and see how it casts without the brakes on.

Don't you think that the lure is a little expensive for Pike? Those critters have teeth! I have a few old Mepps spinners that have the scars to prove it. I would try something a little cheaper for the pike and save the lil feller for the bass.
