I bought a Sliver Maxx/Berkly Lightning combo from Dick's the other day. I fished with it all day yesterday and was suprised. I would recommend it and it fits your price range.

I have 2 from 2008 and they are my favorite for spinning gear.

I am a huge fan of it, but like mentioned earlier I respool often with it.

I have a 24V motor and use my starting battery for everything. It is possible to use your deep cycle batteries if you wanted to though.

Which model, I have a new lightning custom rod that has split grip handle, I haven't seen it anywhere but at Dicks, I like it really well when practicing with it in the back yard.

I go with 12lb BPS Excel.

i am with sdcoll, I done my own and it wasn't that bad. I probably couldn't have done the diamonds thought, I went plain and basic.

I would talk to the local tackle shop and try to work out a deal.

I have had the big green one for around 3 years now, I couldn't begin to tell you enough about how well I like it. I have never had anything rip, tear or wear out on mine yet. My only complaint on it is the mesh on the rear has kinda strethched with time but I have to partially blame myself for that I had stuffed it full on occasion. Simply put, I just love it to death..

I prefer Quantum over anything myself, I use the PT seris spinning and casting reels. I wouldn't trade them for anything.

I'm the same as roostertails, I just take mine off in the winter and store inside. I put the bolts back in the holes to keep water from entering my transom.

I have the same style station, prefer to just lay my line through the middle of a book and spool my spinning reels.

I believe he is a force to be rekoned with. I also beleive he has what it takes to make it to the top but think he will have a rough time in his first year.
