  1. I don't see why not...I only use the higher speeds to get away from and back to the dock/ramp. Just a couple of extra minutes to enjoy the day! John
  2. I have a 40lb MinKota on my Raider 10E. Works like a charm. Big difference between 4 and 5th 'gear' however. It's also powerful enough to chop of weeds etc if you fish ponds with a lot of vegetation. So far, I have only used it on the stern, based on some comments in this forum, I might try it up front next time. I have my transducer mounted on the motor as well. Good Luck
  3. I'm not an electrician so I won't say whether it could be a problem or not, but here are two thoughts: 1) The manufacturer sells a pre-wired boat. The literature should state whether it is suitable for a TM or just accessories like a depth finder. 2) Someone on this board posted a link some time ago for the MinKota site where they (MinKota) specify wire gauges to be used. Try either searching on this forum or head to the MinKota site and check their FAQ or troubleshooting section. Good Luck
  4. Hi all, Seems that starting an Intro thread has become the rule so here goes.... Reasonably capable salt water guy, Stripers, Tautog (Blackfish), flounder, etc. Some surf too Just started fresh water bass fishing end of last season in my canoe. Love it so went to something more stable this season, one of those Pelican bass hunters. Having a great time, even though no bass until...last time out on a Rattle Trap near shore, hit it as soon as it hit the water. Took a couple of jumps too, lots of fun. Toward the end of the day, shifted in the boat and splash goes one of my rods...naturally only had a topwater on one and a small jig on the third. Could I get them to sink so I could 'fish' my only baitcasting set out...not on your life! So I add split shot to the jig, and start trolling. After about 20 or so passes, I figure I'm going to pack it in, hey what the heck, caught my first bass today even though I did lose a rig. Besides read all about the Bait Monkey on this fantastic forum! Maybe I'll just go buy me a new one. Just then my rod picked up the tension and here she comes to the surface! Even though it was a cheap reel I still figured I had one heck of a great day. Besides, I cut out of work on a half day, what could be better. Just want to thank all of you experienced posters out there, the knowledge and learnings that you offer are invaluable to complete newbies like me. I get as much as I can, clearly some subtleties are lost such as how the heck do I know if my rod is a crankin rod or a worm rod or my jiggin rod or.....Look at all the fun stuff that's still in store for me! Thanks again all Bassin0502 (or John, at least I can remember that)
