As I state in another thread, I am really curious what brand boat this is. The consensus seems to be Sea Ark. Let me know what your think. But I am also interested in this jackplate. I have never seen one like this. What is it?

I'd like to know who ends up running out of tin-boats and the details of their rigs. e.g. What kind of boat is Steve Kennedy pictured with in the attached photo?

The guy I did NOT pick for my fantasy team but who I want to win is Gary Klein. If I could pick 6 on a team he would be my #6 pick. I will be watching closely to see who fishes out of tin boats. Being a fan of aluminum boats, I am going to pull for whoever is fishing out of the aluminum boat and getting in the gnarliest stuff he can find. I can't wait to watch it on ESPN 360!

All you do is register and join the "Bass Resource" group. To play you pick five anglers for your roster. You are given a budget of $100 and each angler has a value, for example KVD is $25 and Kim Bain is $12. You cannot pick all superstars or else you will not be able to field a full team of 5. There is a link on "how to play" on the top of the fantasy page. That is worth a read for additional details. They are giving a way some cool prizes like a flat screen TV and some Costa Del Mars. But the Bass Resource group is mainly for bragging rights and just for the hell of it while we are waiting to get on the water ourselves!

Okay..the 2009 season is finally live. The bad news is that they have made significant changes and everyone who registered has to start over. Okay, the 2009 season was supposed to be active today but it is not. I will post an update when they start the 2009 season.

I used to live in McComb, MS. At that time I looked into clubs and found a couple. One was in Natchez and one in Brookhaven. I believe the name of the one in Brookhaven is Brookhaven Bass Club. My club is designed to be a multi-state club. However, after I moved back to Alabama we have no members remaining in MS. But we would love to have some! Our club is at www.tmtanglers.com . We are a different kind of animal though so you probably want to check us out good before you consider joining.

I can't make it through an episode of FLW Outdoors under the current format. It is awful. I am not a producer so I can't explain why--but they continually miss the mark on their TV footage. There is no reason why their TV Show should not be able to match the quality of the Bassmaster Elite series coverage. I used to think it was the announcers, but they have tried several and it is bad with all of them. They are missing something fundamental although I can't put my finger on what.... Have you ever noticed that they don't show a guy making several cast in a row? It is like they cram too much in a show. Bassmasters on the other hand will show a pro commenting on how slow the fishing is as he makes several cast. And then when he gets a fish it is exciting. FLW over analyzes every hookset and it gets old quickly...

I believe they did just add the spot for the WBT Champion....there were 50 spots last two years and 51 spots this year. I could be very wrong if anyone wants to correct me on that...

BINGO!!!! I agree that men do not have inherent physical advantages over women in the sport of fishing. But if the playing field is so equal, why has a woman never qualified via the Opens, Fed Nation, Weekend Series, or Elite Series? (all of whom welcome participation by women.)

Strategies do change depending on whether you are fishing for a check or fishing for 1st. The bigger the reward the bigger the risk of striking out. So I do NOT think the "swing for the fences" cliche' in the Classic is false.

That's right---I asked it. It's not politically correct but don't think for a second that that thought isn't go through about 50 guys heads right now. She is a good fisherman (woman) and I think she can place well in the Classic. The problem is that the Classic is a "swing for the fences" type tournament. Most guys will tell you that they are going to be a hero or zero and 2nd place is only the first loser. But having a woman in the field has to change that some. I mean, what if Kim comes in 49th place and YOU come in 50th...dude...getting beat by a girl on national TV. That would be painful and make for a long 2009 season. My prediction is that many more anglers are going to fish to place this year than in years past. All because they don't want to get whopped by a girl. What do you guys think?

They do not appear to have the 2009 season activated yet. But since the Classic is less than a month away, I think they will update it any day now.

This will be the thread for smack talk as we compete throughout the 2009 season. In addition to having the opportunity to win prizes from BASS, this gives us bassresource.com regulars a chance at having a little friendly competition in the year 2009. You need to create a team. I agree that the reduced schedule is understandable but the reduction in payouts was a bad move. I predict that this will be a deal killer for several pros and they will withdraw. BASS will then respond by increasing the lower level payouts and asking the withdrawing anglers to reconsider. They should also redirect AOY money to the payouts. It's not like reducing the AOY from 1 mil to 500 k is a bad payout. That is still life changing money for most of those guys (except KVD). Matt Herron was interviewed on another site. Can you imagine how you would feel to put all that time, money, and energy in to crossing over from FLW to the Elites and then BASS blind-sides you with this a few weeks before the season starts? I feel bad for him.

I rarely fish lakes with Herring anymore, but I want to try the Sebile Magic Swimmer anyway. The only times I've seen them on TV they appeared to be used post spawn. Is there any point in fishing these things in winter or pre spawn?

There is a buzz about this lure in the inshore world but I am quite certain it will work on bass and stripe as well. My question is...this video says it is an "SU" version, which I assume means suspending. But I can't find the SU version sold anywhere. If you have tried the Stick Shadd please share your experience and let us know if you used the floating, sinking, or suspending. Thanks in advance!

I have one that I have thrown quite a bit. I have never caught a fish on it. I catch just as many fish using the RC series of crankbaits. Those crankbaits are designed to bump cover but they catch fish in open water as well. And they can be bought in bigger sizes if you are fishing for the big bite. I have also had more strikes on the Money Minnow ( A basstrix imitation) than I have on the King Shad. But the Money Minnow cannot be fished fast. This year I plan to acquire a Sebile Magic Swimmer to be used as the swimbait of choice. I am even going to experiment with it on lakes that do not have herring.

I wouldn't worry about it Mike. There is a man named Ken Nance who lived in Kentucky and had a really cool site at crankenstein.net. Word is he had a bad episode of Chrohn's disease and disappeared. (I don't think he passed away or anything like that). But anyway, since you are from Kentucky people might ask you about it from time to time. I have not seen or heard from Ken in many years so I think it is very safe for you to use "crankensein" as your username. It shouldn't bother you one bit.
