Official 2009 BASS Fantasy Fishing Thread

Featured Replies

This is my official challenge to play fantasy Fishing. I'm double dog daring you to beat me if you can ;D

I hope the powers that be at bassresource.com won't mind, but I have taken the liberty of creating a bassresource.com group for fantasy Fishing. This will be the thread for smack talk as we compete throughout the 2009 season.

In addition to having the opportunity to win prizes from BASS, this gives us bassresource.com regulars a chance at having a little friendly competition in the year 2009.

You need to create a team. I suggest having your bassresource forum name somewhere in the name so that you can be easily identified. ( e.g. the name of my team is "bocraw's entry")

Once you create a team you want to join the Bass Resource Group so that you can see your fellow bassresource.com competitors. Here are the specifics:

Group Name: Bass Resource

Password: Bait Monkey

Bring it!

They do not appear to have the 2009 season activated yet.  But since the Classic is less than a month away, I think they will update it any day now.

Okay, the 2009 season was supposed to be active today but it is not.  I will post an update when they start the 2009 season.

Okay..the 2009 season is finally live.  The bad news is that they have made significant changes and everyone who registered has to start over.  The good news is that I think the changes are good and will make playing this season even more fun.

Group Name: Bass Resource

Password: Bait Monkey

Sorry about having to register again.  The ad in Bassmaster Mag said to "register now" so I had no way of knowing they were going to reset everything on Feb. 4...

Good luck!

Sounds fun bo.  Having never done a fantasy anything before, can you give me a quick rundown of how it is played?

I have never done fantasy anything either.  I just signed up and assumed that BR would have a group, luckily found it and then found the password on here.  I think I was the 5th to sign up.  Assuming more than 5 folks sign up, 5th is probably about as high as you will see my name on that group roster!  I have a terrible habbit of perpetually rooting for the underdogs!

All you do is register and join the "Bass Resource" group.  To play you pick five anglers for your roster.  You are given a budget of $100 and each angler has a value, for example KVD is $25 and Kim Bain is $12.  You cannot pick all superstars or else you will not be able to field a full team of 5.

There is a link on "how to play" on the top of the fantasy page.  That is worth a read for additional details.

They are giving a way some cool prizes like a flat screen TV and some Costa Del Mars.  But the Bass Resource group is mainly for bragging rights and just for the hell of it while we are waiting to get on the water ourselves!

I'm in hoping to do well on my rookie season   :)

Smack Talk!  I like it...

I guess that's just how I roll. Watch out for Kim Bain she is notorious for making the top five in almost every event she enters. Don't let the fact that she is a woman fool you she can fish. I mean she has been in the boat with a lot of the elite anglers in the classic. She is one of the few women who knows what it takes to compete with these guys!

Im in too!  I'm Graf.

Alright, I'm in.  Ya'll might as well just compete for 2nd place, because I have 1st all locked up  ;D

I'm in, but let it be said that I'm there to feed the rest of your egos.  I don't do well at these things usually.  I don't help myself any by losing interest when the weather warms up and I become more interested in my own fish catching.  I signed up last year around this same time and set my roster for the first tourney and then the ice melted here and I don't know that I ever went back to the site.  I'll try to stay more involved this year.

Tallydude is in the building.

I'm in, somebody needs to finish last  ;D

I am in!

I'm in - Not that I'll do any good but I'm still in
