  1. That was a general statement, not directed towards anyone specific.
  2. if scents give you the confidence that they work then that is all you need.
  3. Senkos are excellent baits but I do think that guys rely entirely to much on them. I'll go as far as saying that they may be responsible for retarding the learning curve of an entire generation of bass anglers. But a wacky rig and Texas rig are my two favorite ways. Occassionally I'll use them on a D/S rig
  4. Hey, rumor has it that you had a pretty good day recently with a smallie or two ;D!
  5. You have to get them serviced at least once a year. They will provide you with years of service if you do.
  6. This is a good forum, nobody should be surprized.
  7. Put a red hook on the front of the bait. It should force fish to focus on the meaty part! lol
  8. I fish some pit ponds and notice that during low light the bass will be drawn shallow, most other times they are deep.
  9. I would guess the only way they would stop growing is if they were introduced to cooking oil.
  10. I keep hooks and weights together in there own box. I put small amounts in the boxes I take out on the water with me.
  11. I'm a fan of Ranger. After growing up watching Forest Wood drive around in a chopped up boat, how could you not be?
  12. JT, nice job. Glenn, again another nice job with the column.
  13. RoadWarrior, you and I fell off the same tree. I would have put up the exact post if you didn't. Jer, If the water is stained, the 50lb PP is a great choice, it is likely just as thin, perhaps thinner as the 17lb mono someone suggested and you never have to worry about it breaking.....ever!
  14. Happy Holidays fellas!
  15. I'll back RoadWarrior on this. Edges, transitions and junctions between two different types of cover are where I key on much of the time.
  16. Skipper, what's your opinion about the Bee's compared to the Bagley's baits? Should I just stick with Bagley's? Maybe swap out the hooks and custom paint a few myself?
  17. Question: I use crankbaits sparingly because I mostly fish soft plastics, Spinnerbaits and jigs. I use cranks in the spring and fall only. I like Balsa cranks such as the Bagley Killr B1 and Honey B as well as the ThunderShad from Awesome tackle. Has anyone ever used Brian's Bee Crankbaits. These are balse and custom painted but are they worth the $18 to $22 pricetag?
  18. Try a Bullshot weight by water Gremlin, same concept as the split shot rig.
  19. I was thinking of using the bullsot weight by w. gremlin. It a crimp on weight.
  20. I use them and I think they work....sometimes. I don't think they hurt at all either. Tubes and crankbaits for me.
  21. I wrote an article about mypartner who I call mishap man. This guy has the freakiest things happen to him. Maybe I'll post it, its not all that politically correct but it is funny. On the home front I've had two really stupid things happen to me when I was a bit younger. When I was about 15, I was at the cabin that my family had each summer. For me it was 24hrs of bass fishing almost every day for a week or two. I practically took my meals out on the water. I had a superstitious ritual in which as soon as we arrived, I'd go to a certain spot and try to catch a bass on a floating Rapala. This particular time, I had just put on new Gammie trebs and on the first cast, I managed to hang a decent bass. As I was unhooking it, it flopped out of my graps and one of the trebs dug into my left middle finger knuckle. Essentially I am lipping the fish with my right hand and hooked with my left so I'm handcuffed. I'm also about 1/2 mile into the woods with nobody around and no tools to help out. Somehow I manage to get rid of the fish and take the lure off the rear split ring. Walking back to the cabin to tell my parents what had happened and the fact that we'd have to travel 50 miles to get to the nearest hospital was my shame. They took it ok though. When we got there it worked out but it pretty much ruined my day. The next time I has an extremely embarrassing incident was when I was fishing in Florida with my girlfriend. I was on the back of a paddle boat chucking worms at some bass in a pit pond. I had a hit which was actually my worm snagging on a flexible branch. When I set the hook, my rig, bullet weight first came rocketing back towards me, now remember I'm on the back of a paddle boat, the wieght cracks me right in the family package and although I'm about 10 feet from shore in gator infested water, I essentially do my best Jesus impression and almost walk across the water to roll around the shore in agony. People saw it, people laughed like crazy, at my expense. I'm not proud but I made sure that it never happened again.
  22. I have much respect for Rick Clunn. He is the definition of consistency at a high level.
  23. You essentially fish the worm with your fingers, pulling very slight amounts of line through to keep the line taut. You only use the reel to gather slack and fight the fish.
  24. Although I'm not a huge fan of Larry Larsen, I'm reading all of his Florida specific location books as I'll be moving down there this summer.
  25. I didn't even know this forum existed until a week ago, I was strictly reading articles for about a year or so here.
