  2. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ A-Jay
  3. It was a calm and quiet morning that began with a bang. My first brown bass of the day was a tank ! On the scale she was half a goby shy of 7 lbs. Just a gorgeous northern Michigan specimen. I was pumped. Only got 4 more fish on this trip, but they were all over 5 pounds. A jerkbait & a vibrating jig each accounted for a pair of fatties. With the wind coming on pretty good, I called it a day. But what a day. One I will definitely remember for a long time. It’s been a fairly decent spring so far. A-Jay
  4. I can only guess but I'd say yes. After a few weeks of post spawn, these big girls virtually disappear until mid August. Locating them from mid-June thru July is tough. Whether they suspend or go deep or suspend deep - where ever it is, it's like the place that's never found; at least not by me . . .yet. A-Jay
  5. Almost always Crayfish & Perch. This lake along with several of the other big lakes I fish, are connected to each other via rivers. The important part of that is this, Includes the Great Lakes - which are only a few miles (as the crow flies) from this one. So there's gobies & zebra mussels. A-Jay
  6. It's a time & distance deal for me. Being able to do a little less than a mile a minute adds to my fishing time; especially on some of the larger lakes. Don't get me wrong, safe speed is cool, but adding 20 minutes of fishing time to every spot I fish adds up over the course of a season. Which is already short enough in my world. More casts = more opportunities. A-Jay
  7. Nicely Done ~ Congrats A-Jay
  8. I watch (and got video) of my friend Big Fish Jeff land his PB - which is the largest Bass I ever actually seen. Everyone was pretty pumped. Very Cool. A-Jay

  10. Spent what ended being a fairly windy & brisky day on Lake Menderchuck. Morning started of flat calm and I was throwing a small swimbait all over the lake but there was virtually no bites to be found. Once the wind came on, I started presenting an assortment of jerkbaits over a flat in 6-12 of water, hoping a few fatties would let me know which ones they found appealing. The Vision 110+1 and the Strike King KVD 300 Deep both in perch pattern, was my answer. Day ended on a high note as I got to handle & hang a 6 lb bronze beauty on the scale. A-Jay

  17. And when I consider the $$ allocated to this obsession, that's mostly the way it is. Except the models don't always show up ! A-Jay
  18. That's a bummer. I had one pop on me early this spring. We didn't have open water yet so I didn't miss any fishing time. I replaced both of them - It's a doable DIY project but you Must know what you're doing. Those springs create a tremendous amount of torque when under tension, which can do some real serious damage. The correct tools and proper replacement process is paramount. Rewinding the pair of 35 inch springs for my 16 x 8 foot door was all I wanted. But it's done and I may not ever have to replace them again. Hope you're up & running and out on the water sooner rather than later. A-Jay
