Not completely familiar with that model, but generally a MH spinning rod is rated something like 3/8 oz - 3/4 oz. That covers a fairly wide range of baits, presentation & techniques - right off the top of my head I'd use that one for fishing soft plastics including Senko-style baits; Ideal for tubes, grubs, worms, light jigs, small spinnerbaits and even buzzbaits. May be quite suitable for low trajectory casts under docks and overhanging trees and brush as well. I also use a similar action stick for Swim jigs & small swim baits where a lighter line & a long cast (especially into the wind) is the preferred presentation. And if you do it - fishing a blade bait would work on that as well. Finally, may anglers who use spinning gear exclusively, would use a comparable stick to fish also anything the gear will handle including cranks & topwater. A-Jay

Someone's just going to have come up with a new product that has all the in water properties & action of pork but won't dry out. I'd imagine this what may have lead to the product falling out of favor with so many anglers. There's no doubt it works but when compared to present day plastic materials it's simply too inconvenient. Still - It's accounted for many many big fish. A-Jay

I'm not right on the big lake but I am in northern lower Michigan. Both the 3.5" Bite Size & the 4" tubes produce for me. I have not fished the Slim Tubes. I fish very clear water most of the time and the most effective colors for me have been BBQ Melon, Roadkill, St Clair Tease, Green Pumpkin Brown, Green Pumpkin Fizz & Orange Flaked Smoke. As for tube jig head weight / size I go by this ~ The 1/8 oz. tube head is designed to fish around grass, swim and just work in shallow water conditions. Uses this one in shallow current waters and around spawning fish in open water conditions. This 3/16 oz. tube head is the perfect "in between" weight that is great for a slow fall or bed fishing. It's very versatile for working around grass/rock/gravel/current and is a great size for swimming a tube. The 1/8-1/4 oz sizes also come with collars to hold a grub or worm. The 1/4 oz. tube head is a big FAVORITE for a lot of shallower Great Lakes fishing. It's the most versatile size for working around grass/rock/gravel/current and is a great size for swimming a tube.
