Spinner baits?.
Big Time ! One of my very favorite ways to catch smallies during the summer peak is to burn (and I mean REALLY BURN) a white on white double willow bait on long sloping Wind Blown main lake points. Either by sitting out off the deep, throwing up shallow or sitting shallow and throwing out off the point and screaming it back to the boat (just under the surface) the super curious and love to chase bronzeness will come up and HAMMER IT ! About rips the rod right out of your hand - I love it. Clear water is a must and I've had them come up out of 25 feet - sometimes you'll get 6 or 8 Fat brown rockets fighting over it. Tip - down size the blades, use braid, make long cats and Always use a trailer hook- Oh and Hold ON ! A-Jay

Spinner baits?.
I have success working a spinnerbait in & around shallow to mid-depth structure & cover that has Some Wind Blowing Directly On It. The longer it's been blowing, the better Like it. A-Jay

The Green Pumpkin (and some of the variations) are about as close to a brown color as any of them. GP is also a Very Effective color in many different situations. A-Jay

Rat-L-Trap vs Strike King Red Eye Shad
In the true spirit of the Gift Giving Season, you've given away yet another gem Catt - "Crashing Traps". Sometimes It's Pretty Killer. And I'll add that if one switches out the treble hooks for double's (think little frog hooks) with the business ends pointing up - hanging up is reduced quite a bit. btw- crashing traps is pretty tough on the paint job and definitely not for the faint of heart. drop me a line [or throw me a bone]
Yes ~ and I like Ultra Green a lot but I've never used it as a main line on a spinning reel. Only used it as a leader in front of my rigs with braid and as a main line on casting gear. Great Knot strength and abrasion resistance, perhaps a little less than average amount of stretch, and decent manageability. It's not the cheapest nylon line you'll find but you could do worse. A-Jay

Gliss Monotex Line ~ A Brief Review
Gliss line is a monotex which basically means the line is made up of extruded polyethylene fibers. This results in strands of fiber fused together to form one monotextiled line. So it has the properties of braid in its strength and smaller diameters, but it casts better than braid because it doesn’t have a woven texture and it’s so incredibly limp. All of that said, the "Translucent" version in my opinion, is not Fluorocarbon like clear if that's what you're asking. One could make this comparison - If Fluorocarbon is similar to a sheet of clear glass then Gliss line compares to a sheet of Frosted glass - not completely clear or transparent but clear enough to allow light to pass through; but you probably wouldn't walk into a sheet of it. GLASS VS GRAPHITE
OR . . . . . Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ (a simple welcome. The strength of every group is always in it's newest members.) I have & fish Glass, composite & graphite sticks for different type applications but all for crankbaits. (Adds credibility) Each anglers preference over one or the other all comes down to what You like; they all work.I'll say that the type & test of line I use affect the performance of each system. So despite how much experience I may have with a certain type of rod, Fishing a glass stick is just one of those deals where if you really want to know what it's like, you're going to have to experience it for yourself, my description may not be how you perceive the performance. ( An offer of support - saying that's it's OK to do a little of one's own research to form one's own opinion.) btw - after reading & reading & reading about the three different rods - I just finally went out and got my own and fished them.I'm glad I did & I learned a ton. Best part was - I got to go FISHING ! (Fact of Life.) You do it your way ~ and I'll continue to do it mine. A-Jay

How do you find the big smallies?
Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource Congrats on living on what sounds like quite a Smallmouth Factory. I'd recommend fishing different locations. You haven't listed where you're fishing, but every where I've fished for smallmouth, the larger adult fish usually do not feed on the same items or in the same places as juvenile bass. Figuring out what the adult bass prey on in your body of water may help. Remember the prey's abundance & availability play a role too. Then learn about the prey's life cycle; where it lives in the lake / water column, where & when it spawns and just like the bass, what it eats. All of this can often help lead an angler right to the fish he / she is after or at the very least, offer a place to start looking. There is a reason the small fish are where they are; and it probably revolves around self preservation & Food. The adult bass population will be looking for the same thing Good Luck A-Jay

Duo Realis jerkbaits
I'm a Big Fan of the Duo Realis 120SP jerkbait. I've had quite a bit of success working the bait hard - what I'd call "Ripping it". Routinely, that's my favorite & most effective way of fishing the bait and have not had any problems with the bait not tracking correcting. A-Jay

a cheap tablet that works?
Selecting anything from the "Cheap but Works" category is always a risky proposition at best; especially electronics. When reading reviews of such products, the number of happy customers is often dramatically overwhelmed by those who are not. A few months back, as an anniversary gift, I got my wife the Venue 10 7000 Series (32GB) + Keyboard ~ super nice item that's extremely versatile. Not the cheapest model but it does work very well. Rat-L-Trap vs Strike King Red Eye Shad
I am very bias and I'm not even gonna try to hide it ~ my PB 11-11 came on a RES But in my experience, there's not doubt that both baits are very good. There are several other makes & models that are also solid producers. Lipless baits are a category of hard baits that one can never have enough of. A-Jay

6th Sense Crankbaits
6th Baits are very solid. The X75 Flat has been like magic for me I Haven't tried all of Casey Sobczak's baits but the ones I have fished are Top Notch. A-Jay
