  1. I fished the St Croix LTB TBS71MF this summer. It's a 7'1" stick that I've come to really like. Like you, I have a well stock arsenal of rigs & this is the one I'd use to fish the bait & conditions you've described. It's Rated as a Medium up to 5/8 oz and 6-12 lb line. We both know that by & large the manufacture's "Rating" is more or less a suggestion at best. No trouble with hook sets ~ I use 10 - 20 lb braid. Landed a U-Boat of a Pike with it last time out. 2. You can carry a small tool box ~ or you can carry one of these. They both have gotten done whatever little "emergency repair" (and I'd like to emphasize the word Little here) perfectly. Wingman's in the truck & the Diesel's in the boat. A-Jay
  3. And then there's this ~ http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/148880-the-official-i-dont-have-a-scale-calculator/?p=1668095 A-Jay
  4. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ Perhaps a finesse type approach would work. A-Jay
  5. You may want to consider a tape measure & a scale. A-Jay
  6. When Iowa gets a team ~ you can have him. A-Jay
  7. Just ask for a TW gift card and you can use it as your needs arise. Easy. A-Jay
  8. I have Zero control over any of that and knowing the reasons why unfortunately can't make this situation better either. I don't wish ill will on anyone, nor do I make light of this situation. But if petrol prices were SKY HIGH while the super powers were duking it out - I can't believe that would somehow be better for anyone - working or not. A-Jay
  9. The "Go-To" bait thing, ya that doesn't seem to work for me. The closest version of that for me would be that there are one or two baits that I can use for each calendar period that routinely produce some fish. But I haven't found that one magic bait that gets is done during Prespawn, Spawn, Postspawn, Presummer, Summer Peak, Summer, Postsummer, Fall Turnover, Cold Water, and finally Winter. Often times one or two baits (or Techniques) can remain viable for 2 or even 3 periods. I will say a jig & craw works all year but even that can be Tough Sledding. A-Jay
  10. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ I think you already have realized that when talking about an All In One rod, especially when it comes to Crank baits, there's a decent chance you'll have to sacrifice something. Whatever you choose, it can only really be decent at one end of the bait weight spectrum, but not both. So pick something that will take care of business with whatever size baits you feel you'll fish the most and be happy with that. When you fish the other baits, if you don't get bit, well then at least you can blame the rod. A-Jay
  11. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ Good Luck on your trip. A-Jay
  12. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ Looks like you're a ST Croix Mojo user. I'd recommend the MBC66MF, the MBC66MHF or if you could deal with the extra 2 inches, the MBC68MXF. Best part is all of these rods are currently on sale in the St Croix Bargain Room for $89 bucks & free shipping - link below Good Luck A-Jay http://stcroixrods.com/shop/bargain-room/
  13. I suggest you cut them all in half lengthwise. Then glue the Main Vein halves to the Infection halves & the Infection halves to the Main Vein halves. If all goes well you'll end up with a big bag of Sweet Infected Beaver Veins . . . That's gotta work . . . . . A-Jay
  14. Sounds a lot like what happened with the auto industry ~ Places in & around Detroit for instance Got Hammered Hard. A-Jay

  16. Me Too ~ And it's a well known fact that The Bait Monkey goes semi-dormant during the warmer months but then explodes right into full attack mode right around Halloween. Unfortunately he's usually well rested by then and is able to keep the pedal to the floor for several, I say again, Several months - He's RELENTLESS ! A-Jay
  17. You're welcome & you may not necessarily need a better rod, as that's a pretty nice stick, rod just something with a little more back end. Medium Heavy perhaps. A-Jay
  18. I'd recommend not going with too heavy a gauge wire on your hook choice & definitely use braided line. Otherwise you may find that rod to be a little "soft". A-Jay
  19. The Berkley Powerbait 10" Power Worms in BLACK A-Jay
  20. Holy Smokes ~ ! I'm may need to redo my entire portfolio . . . . . That is, if I actually had a portfolio . . . . . Still, loving the $1.85 per gal A-Jay
  21. Very Very Cool. Kind a makes me a little thirsty though . . . . . . It's 5 o'clock somewhere. A-Jay
  22. Very Sweet looking bait. I'll be looking forward to hearing how it swims / glides. Could be a contender. There's Always room in the box for ANOTHER BAIT ! Help Me. A-Jay
  23. It's more of a want than a need. A-Jay
  24. I have not used any of the P-Line however CXX does have a faithful following both here on the BR forum and just about everywhere else. I've had good results with Berkley Big Game and Maxima Ultragreen Line. There are a few other decent lines out there as well. btw - there are a decent number of swimbaiters who do use braided line very successfully. However, they do usually use something other than the Gliss and often at least 50lb (or higher) test. A-Jay
  25. Don't feel bad - sometimes we just have to learn some of these hard lessons for ourselves. The line selection advice most often provided by those anglers who fish the larger swimbait regularly (and who may or may not have learned this lesson the same way) is to use a quality 20 - 25 lb monofilament line. Braid & a leader is not a system I would recommend for larger swimbaits. Just use mono. A-Jay
