  1. Work is what you do so you can pay off this guy . . . . . A-Jay
  2. Hello Daniel and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ As for a tackle recommendation, there's a ton of good info here and the BR forum membership is always very willing to offer their advice on what THEY LIKE & why. That's where it ends and you take over. By going to your local tackle shop, asking questions, holding the gear in your hands to see what feels right to you, you can definitely get a quality, suitable & matched set-up. Good Luck A-Jay
  3. We see these threads all the time here - and I mean all the time. It seems like it's just the way it is now - there are a lot of people on the water and there's bound to be at least some occasions when anglers are a little closer than some would like. I fish in a place that is sparsely populated and rarely ever have anyone fishing the same lake as I do so I do not deal with this. Since Turnabout is usually considered fair play - I have an idea . . . . . What if every time another boat / angler comes too close or infringes on your water, you simply stop fishing, and go right over to the boat. And I mean right up to it. Slap on a Big Smile and start shooting the breeze about the fishing . . . . . And don't leave until he does. If you fish the same waters all the time and you do this enough - eventually you'll get the reputation as "The guy who comes over to all the boats he see's and won't shut up " People will no doubt Avoid You in the Future. Big Win right there. A-Jay

  5. I'm in MI as well (Otsego County) and the vis here is alway twice that. The Braid choice for me is a personal preference that revolves around the fact that it floats, has No Stretch, & Cuts through the weeds. A-Jay
  6. Had a Good laugh right there - I heard somewhere that the newest rage in the dating scene is to seek out New England Patriots fans as a prime dating choice - mostly because they don't care if you cheat . . . . Sorry, I couldn't help myself. . . A-Jay
  7. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ Hard to say from here what the whole deal is / was but the lighter weight (1/8 oz) may allow a bait to lay on top of the vegetation instead of burying all up in it. Also I'd be using braided line. A-Jay

  17. I'm going to say that they both compliment each other nicely. A "system" can draw them up but a man will have to make those high pressure throws. And No One has made more of them than the 3 times Superbowl MVP - A-Jay
  18. Before the discussion into techniques & baits, I think it may help to know & understand two important concepts: 1). How, where & why LMB live out their lives in the Summer months and 2). How that relates to the water your fishing. During the pre summer to summer time period, bass will make one of two distinct movements, some of the bass population will head towards the protection of the shallows and the slop often found there and bury up for the summer months. Or they will head towards the cooler deeper water, only moving briefly moving as shallow as they need to to feed. How and when they feed in your water is important as is what prey they prefer or what is most available. This can at the very least offer some confidence in where to start. Clearly to learn this takes effort & time. You'll need to be there, on the water, or the bank trying different baits in different areas and at different times. It's not something one needs to speed up or rush because this is called Bass Fishing and that's what we do. I guarantee you, that after you figure some of this out, on your own, the confidence to keep learning and the satisfaction of putting it together will fuel you to new highs as an angler. btw- I said "some of this" because unless you where born with gills, there will always be gaping holes left in this puzzle. There are several good Summer Time articles here on BR. Good Luck A-Jay
  19. Here's the new "tow" vehicle. Has & does everything I'll be asking of it. Granted I'm fairly sure the Denali doesn't work up much of a sweat hauling around the Old Town. A-Jay
  20. At this point, and it's been this way for a while I guess, The Superbowl Champion New England Patriots may be the most hated NFL Team in the land - unless you're a fan of course. And I am. The jury is still out, but the team may be without their starting QB for perhaps the first 4 games. With games against the Steelers, Bill & Jaguars (then the Bye in wk-4 which is weird) those fan bases are probably hoping the Superbowl MVP QB is not in the line up. Either way after last season, as long as the games are competitive and no one is decapitated, I'm looking forward to a decent year. The defensive secondary may be an issue - but that seems to be a common theme with this team. A-Jay
  21. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ Nice fish there in the photo - Don't see many pics of bass in the garage on here . Congrats A-Jay
  22. Don't want to hi-jack the thread but Be Careful what you ask for - super clear water looks cool and may offer a feeling of a pristine eco system - but it makes the bass fishing a bit more challenging. And that may be an understatement of sorts. A-Jay
  23. I understand the concept of a vertical presentation however the OP mentioned water that was 16ft deep with fish in 10 ft. The water is so clear here - often 20 ft plus of vis - there is no way I would ever be able to position "Over" these bass. They be long gone before I ever got close. The shadow of the boat alone will spook them off. This scenario would be more likely for me at 30 feet with the fish at 25 ft. A-Jay
  24. Do you happen to know if they also offer the "Dink Trough" ? I'll be needing that one. A-Jay
  25. I use braid for a few different cranking applications. Mostly to help rib baits out of grass. Look at the diameter of the brand of braid you're considering and match that with the line your currently satisfied with. Personally 30lb braid is an all around choice for me. A-Jay
