How Long Did It Take You To Master The Baitcaster?
I'm assuming you've already watched a few video's that teach you how to "Set-up" a revolving spool reel for casting. If you haven't you really should. If you have, try tightening the cast control tension so the line will barely or not drop off the reel before the cast. Go easy & just get the feel & motion of the cast down. Practice accuracy next. Once you have the confidence that you can put a bait where you want to with little to no difficulty, then and only then should you start winding up and going for distance. Every one who is effective at learning anything new is willing to start out slow and enjoy's the learning process. Don't get frustrated ~ it's not a race. A-Jay

New Line: Gliss - Thoughts?
Hard to say right out of the pack & still on the spool. Don't exactly know if I could tell for sure any way. I will say that to me, Gliss Looks, Feels and appears in most every way like braid & Not Mono, fluoro or co-poly line. It's going to have to pull a major magic act in the handling category to make me feel other wise. But I'm still optimistic and I hope I'm wrong. That's why I'm checking it out. A-Jay

New Line: Gliss - Thoughts?
My spool of Gliss Monotex line arrived this morning. It's 300 yds of the 40 LB line - First impressions - out of the package ( haven't spooled it up or fished it yet); Seems smooth, fairly limp but not over so, I'd expect it to handle OK. This 40 lbs is definitely thinner than any 40 lb "Braid" I've used. I'm guessing it's somewhere close to 8 maybe a thin 10 lb mono size. Interestingly enough I got this size for casting reel applications and looking at it, unless it actually handles like it's advertised (like a mono) it may be too thin for my liking. We'll see. If I was going to get it for a spinning reel for light line bassing, I'd go for the next size down maybe two sizes. Bottom line - Gliss looks & feels like several of the more limp braids already on the market to me. I don't exactly know what I was expecting, but so far this is does not look like anything Revolutionary to me. More to follow. A-Jay

Blade Baits
I started throwing them last fall for the first time in several years - I was reminded very quickly just how much SMB like them And you're right, that LC bait does look sweet. I've only used blade baits very early & very late in the year - cold water. Doesn't mean they wouldn't work other times, just that I haven't really fished them. I had decent success with casting gear but much, much better success with spinning gear. Seems like the smallies like to follow / chase these baits a bit before they commit. So a longer cast has proven very beneficial here. A 7'4" spinning stick, a reel loaded with 10-15 lb braid and a longer 10-12 lb mono leader works well for me. Here my last trip of 2014 - all blade baits. Silver buddies & the Damiki Vault A-Jay

Your 2 Best/most Successful Lures?
A SK Rage Craw on a drop shot rig & a 6th Sense Crush Flat 75X Crankbait in Bluegill. There's been a few weeks each of the past two season, that these have been the only 2 bait's I fished. The bait below would have to get honorable mention as well. A-Jay

Flipping Baits
I don't think it's the bait - it may be the hook. Trokar hooks are by design going to work through the bait faster. It's a good thing for hook ups but a bad thing for no bite bait longevity. I like the hooks just not that aspect of them. You may want to consider another brand with a more traditional hook point instead of one with that cutting leading front edge. A-Jay

First Time Boat Owner In Need Of Some Help
A Twenty-five or so year old anything will need to be gone over with a fine tooth comb. Check everything - attention to detail will be important. You'll have to expect that virtually anything & everything on the boat, motor and trailer can or will need replacement. Start slow and build up speed; could be a marathon . . . . A-Jay
