  1. Any recommended boat ramp? Just took a quick look at the video and I'm intrigued .
  2. Following up on this question. I'm down here with my bass boat at my uncle's in saint Pete's. Was going to drive to Harris chain but the two hour drive is a bit discouraging. Any advice would be great! Fishinf out of a 18.5' bass boat with a 150, for whatever that's worth.
  3. Thank you so much for the quick replies guys. Will be checking these first thing in the AM. Will let you know how it goes.
  4. Good evening, My 2002 Mercury XR6 is sounding the overheating alarm (continuous beep) immediately after turning the key (regardless as to whether or not I crank it over). I feel this has to be a false alarm as the engine is literally at the temperature of the great outdoors (makes the sound before even being run). Tried running it for 10 minutes to see if it would quit to no avail. Any Ideas? Where on the outboard is the temperature sensor that controls this alarm? Perhaps this is just faulty? Thank you a bunch for any help in advance!
  5. Why not ram mount to the dek-it? seems like it'd be the best of both worlds
  6. OK I'm looking at two different harnesses to create a tow attachment point behind my outboard, here are the options both have been mentioned here was hoping someone may have experience with both. Airhead Heavy Duty Tow Harness OR Airhead Tow Demon Ski Tow Harness Any advice would be appreciated, Thanks!
  7. Specifically any swimbaits y'all recommend?
  8. So anything I should make sure I stock up on before I head out to san diego? i was going to bring some swim baits i've got that I'll never have a chance to throw otherwise, and then some of my favorite bed baits anything in particular i shouldn't forget or work well out there? I was just going to throw a white jig and a lizard at the beds
  9. Thank you for the responses guys. I'm definitely going to try and get out to diamond valley but i'm afraid that I'd have to hire a guide, which would be a stretch for me with my college student income. Looks like I'll be trying my hand at Dottie Jr at Dixon for the most part. If anyone has any further advice I'll be checking in all the way up until (and during) my trip, and I'll post back with any reports I have. We'll see how a Potomac River basser will fair out on the west coast.
  10. I was hoping someone may be able to give me some advice on what lakes to focus on and more or less what will the bass be up to that time of year (pre, spawn or postspawn? Never been to california before so have no idea what to expect. My brothers in the navy so i'll be on my own for the first 3 or 4 days of the trip. Heard dixon rents little jon boats and its small so figured that'd be an alright spot to start. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Or if any of you have an open seat and want gas covered shoot me a PM.
  11. Happy new years San Diego Bassers, I too will be headed to SD to visit my brother for the first time in a long time (Navy doesn't give much leave apparently). Anyhow if anyone would happen to have an open seat March 5th-13th and would want to take me / us out (think i'm going to be on my own for half the week as he can't get a full week off) that would be amazing. Also does anyone recommend any guides in the area, I know taking two out is a lot to offer so guide may be the better bet. Happy New Years everyone.
  12. Fishindaddy coming through again, took me out during my 6 month internship down there and definitely taught me a thing or two that helped me throughout the rest of my time down there. Thanks again Fishindaddy and enjoy your time down there BMH...hopefully it'll be a better january than the freezing one of last year
  13. i heard some ramp talk of some guys saying the musky were hurting the population, i've also heard that the snowy winter messed it up somehow
  14. Hey whats happening out on the Pot? Been down at Va Tech for a while now been missing the river, will be out Monday and Tuesday most likely with an open seat also most likely PM me if interested.
  15. Hi I was wondering if anyone with knowledge of or personal experience has installed a recessed trolling motor foot pedal mount on their ranger 185. My marina is unsure whether or not doing this would put at risk the strength of the boat or something, so i'm trying to do the research for him and give him the go ahead.
  16. sounds like my boat (except i've got the 150 instead of the 175). you'll love it it hops up on plane like you hop out of bed when you realize you overslept work by 4 hours. I clocked mine at 63 once with just me, wind at my back, and glass water but normally right around 60 so you should easily do 64+. if you have any questions on it feel free to shoot me a message.
  17. it was a zoo to say the least...and yea above the bridge you need a safety course best one (easiest) to take is the american boaters course cost like 15 bucks. can't wait for all the jet skis to be off the water
  18. think my cousin was hoping for a late afternoon / evening cruise to avoid the heat...beats me what the ramp will be like i'm pretty set in my habits of pohick at 6 never had a problem...rarely done this afternoon launching nonsense. Think I'll find a spot to be able to launch and park my truck/trailer say around 3ish?
  19. Just did some google earth detective work looks like theres two possibities theres the "comlombia island marina" from above looked like it may not be a public ramp...and then more promising was a ramp at the end of reagan airport runway...think this may be the one my friend kept telling me to use, can anyone confirm this for me?
  20. Hey looking for the location/name/directions of a boat ramp on the va side of the river up close to DC. Taking a cousin out on the river tomorrow and she wants the dc tour from the water. In the past I've made the run up from my normal launching spot (Pohick Bay). But I've been told multiple times theres a boat ramp right up there thats perfect. If anyone could fill me in that'd be awesome thank you!
  21. bringing back an old thread here... i know the pole is preferable but i don't feel like putting any holes in my boat (which I believe is necessary for it's installation). So I'm going to try the trailer rings first, I don't have to worry about ripping these out? Or causing stress fractures in my boat from pulling a tube or do I? Thanks everyone.
  22. don't forget pohick as a jon boat creek i love fishing that place out of my jon, i've got a fiberglass rig and still opt for that sometimes over the bass boat
  23. could anyone post a link to a "good lock" i broke one of the perko locks on one of my comparments so its permanently stuck unlocked (it was stuck locked was able to break it to get it stuck unlocked shows how easy it is to get past some of these locks)...figure its time to replace all 5 of my lockable storage compartments
  24. *Question preface: I'm having to lug my batteries to and fro boat b/c storage place won't let me charge it. Using a schumaker charger.* Been charging my 2 month old otpima's this way ever since i bought them, charger would show gradual increase from its state say 70% to 100 (ie showing %s in between). Past weekend TM broke and in the process of installing a new one realized the female part of my electrical plug up front was melted replaced both (new fortrex is sweet) anyhow got to use my on board charger at the fish camp i was at this weekend, then brought them back to where i'm living and now when i charged both batteries they started at 80 showed no increase for hours, i unplugged and replugged and it immediately read 100...happened for both batteries. Pretty much just trying to figure out if my batteries are indeed fully charged / why this is happening all of a sudden to both. sorry for the long question... Okeechobee was awesome this weekend. somewhat glad my tm broke gave me an excuse to buy me a new one
  25. I caught my old personal best out of weiss prefishing 23 inches (only 5.5# though). Its a crappie destination, the bass are small overall 12 pounds isn't a winning bag a lot of locations especially that far south. takes 20 to think about winning on the potomac a lot of the time. don't really know about guntersville but i'd assume it takes even more (pots my home water)
