  1. "Bass in Depth" by Bob McNally
  2. "I also believe in the first cast curse; when you catch a fish on your first cast; you never catch a fish again at that body of water, which my and my fathers results eerily back up also." I can ALMOST 100% agree. But there have been days when I've killed it from first to last cast
  3. Didn't read responses so relax if already mentioned.. Go buy a Thermacell. All you need. Set it down beside you or buy the holster and belt it on your back. Worth every penny IMO.
  4. If you live in the south, catching turtles and hornpout are like panning a stream and finding gold. In the north, hornpout are fun, but turtles (like the monster I witnessed two days ago), are a temporary distraction from the goal. BTW. That sucker must have been 200 years old. HUGE. I promptly switched rods and my Spit n Image soon became a Sleep n Image on the sidelines
  5. Topwater will always work in this situation (depending on your retrieve). BUT weightless senkos will dominate in this heat wave. More often than not, you will be hooked up almost immediately after it touches the water. Which leads me to my next point. Using senkos is cheating . There. I said it. What.
  6. So... what else are you using? You can't expect to catch more fish by sticking to one or two options in the box. Nhclone is right about slowing presentation down. If the bite continues to be slow, go with smaller baits.
  7. While there is no correct answer here... this is the only correct answer here
  8. Good work. Many different lures got wet... and bit. Unless you pulled that sly pro trick
  9. Bahahah. Used this joke with other ingredients before
  10. nice fish man. those are tough to come by up in this region.
  11. stay with the rapala - but maybe go to a suspending. alternate retrieves.
  12. Not sure if it's a RI thing but I definitely agree here. Also gotta have some jerky.
  13. My favorite part is landing it. Feeling strike, seeing a jump are great but still a ways to go before you're actually lippin it with a big grin.
  14. Nice one. I think he should check his shorts after that one - Was resolved to making another cast. Nice looking frogs btw
  15. Plastics (all rigs) > Cranks > Jigs
  16. I don't do anything in the wind - that includes emptying any bodily fluids. But wind comes with the territory. Learn to deal with, just skip those gale force days.
  17. You know what's ironic .... I bet the Raiders are saying the same thing about us. ;D ;D I think we are going to have a hell of a year and go .... 5-12 ;D ;D That includes 1 surprise win. Maybe Baltimore Week 1? Pittsburgh week 11? I'll bet your right about the Raiders. If we go 5 - 12 I'll feel like we've made progress. Anything better than that will be sweet icing on the cake. I will be rooting against the Raiders all year...the worse they do...the better the draft pick the Pats get for Seymour. I would love to see a 0-16 and it is very possible. Their 3 chances of winning are against the Chefs twice and Bengals. That pick is in 2011. Pats 14-2 this year.
  18. "Say, how much does this bluegill weigh?..."
  19. Trey Anastasio is right. Too much $. [not to mention some turtles would be treated to an expensive meal]. I would try ditching the bobber. Let that minnow explore the depths.
  20. Spoons lol. They've migrated to that "why do I still carry these" box. Also chatterbait. I'm not sure I've ever used it.
  21. 5-12 feet of water, points. Shallows always produce but no oinks. Plastics still effective but taking backseat to cranks (baby bass/craw) and spins (for me anyway).
  22. Funny stuff there. Goals; Perfect the baitcaster and explain the importance of catch n' release to both willing and unwilling ears
  23. Try a hair bug or any insect-based spinner (bumble bee, hopper)
