I'm thinking a fast taper m/h rod is used for jigs, plastics or topwater. I'm thinking using a heavier action beefy rod using copolymer line I can set the hook quicker and possibly turn there heads to me before these bigger gals dive and wave goodbye.(topwater) I just don't have the enough power in the lighter rods.

I picked up a lews speed stick tournament M/H 6' spinning rod. It's has the higher backbone and power. It's way stiffer at the upper 1/3 than my other lews rods are. I like it. My other rods like most rods feel flimsy at the top for certain baits.

I think the copolymer fishing line is the way to go. I use mostly copolymer unless I'm using red Cajun leaders.

Watch out when removing the hooks they will bite you. I been carefully removing the hooks on picketed for five decades. Last year I had one engulf my bomber crank where he could close its mouth. He constantly snapped his mouth shut at me. This was a nasty mad little pickerel. Look out for the bigger ones.

Those half senkos work on days the senkos are hotter than normal.

I use five different setups from shore mainly four spinning and one bait caster. My boat rods are mostly bait casters.

The s&w models m27 & m28 in 357 magnum are hot right now it's the craze. These older N frames are sought after. The s&w pre model k22 and k38's before they used model numbers are hot right now too. The k22 in 22lr & the k38 in 38 special. The early n frame 38/44 heavy duty 4" and 38/44 outdoorsman 6" barrel are commanding big bucks too. Not to mention the registered magnum. Some of these frame sizes they still manufacture today are 100 year old designs with some improvements done to them. The models with no dash seem to be valued more. The no dash is the first model offered. The models after that have a dash then a number for each engineering upgrade or change. Example a model 27-2 means engineering changes have been done. The s&w book lists these numbered changes and what's been done during each change. All the s&w revolvers are going up price wise. I don't care for the over priced Colts. For a shooter that Mack truck strong the rugers are unmatched.

I put my used plastics in seperate zip lock bags. I keep the used plastics from contaminating the new plastics. Bacteria or activating the salts on the new plastics from the water on the used plastics.

First R U superstitious? I prepare to go bass fishing by; Getting dressed the same way. Washing my hands with BIG Orange. I remove my natural oils by using a citrus cleaner. Now using scents from shore. On my first cast I load up my topwater popper with bass scent. I make the farthest cast from shore that I can. Now I get in the zone. 1. Topwater baits..........bass scent 2. Crankbaits..............crawfish scents 3. Plastics (unscented)....worm & crawler scent 4. Senko (salted)..no scents on first cast. If I get a strike and I miss it. I put a shot of scent on the next cast for a 100% hookup on the next cast. I use the eagle weedless hooks on my C-Rig with my senko wacky rigged. When the weedless hook guard comes up open I'm positive I had a strike. If I had a strike and it's closed I bumped something. A shot of bass scent. 5. Creature baits a shot of bass scent. When do you switch scent flavors? The garlic bass scent is my relief pitcher. It's my backup. It pays off to have a bass scent that's a knockout punch and the garlic scent is it. On a slow day caught consider switching to garlic too. Slow day. Change lure colors and sizes. Switch scents. Change presentations. Use longer pauses. Go with firetiger. I'm no expert. I fish mainly from shore.

Bill Dance went head to head fishing the tornies with one of the fisherman brothers years ago. These guys are great fisherman we just didn't have the media and spotlight we have on the tournament guys like we do now. I was glued to the tv set back then too.

They once had Jerry McKinnis on Saturday mornings at 7am. I wish we had more of the Jerry McKinnis bass fishing shows. He is the godfather of bass fishing when you had to build your own plywood boat. Jerry built a new boat every year.

We use the longer stem hooks and thread a 1" or so piece of night crawler on the hook so it's a straight piece of worm on the hook. This way the fish can't steal the worm. We use a bobber or a rattle bobber if you have one. The 1" mister twister chartreuse grub with a rattle bobber with it. You rattle that bobber and the crappies will come.

My son took my wife and our dog for a walk to the state forest nearby me. My wife didn't like the area too much. Then I told them about the Bigfoot reports about a night fisherman being heckled by a Bigfoot from across the body of water. I live not far from there and seen something moving very fast, faster than a horse after I spotted it in a field. Being a logger here and up at my camp in vt I have many stories about the unknown. You don't look for it, it will find you

If you look closely at the sand below the bass swimming in the pic you can see the pothole in the sand. I seen the water level drop here and expose like 75 potholes in the sandy beach area. There bass beds. They are so awesome. Great video. We don't have to catch them all the time it's the education we get about there secret life.

I use the 3700 clear plastic boxes but one is deep while the 3701 or 3600 is thinner I'm not sure of the number. I find the 3700's in a four pack on Amazon.com I use both the deeper and thinner for larger body cranks and smaller cranks and jig storage.

Haven't seen snake heads yet in my local water. I hope the bass, giant picketed and pike will eat there babies if we ever do get them. I have seen large gold fish and some sort of pink & white sunfish shaped fish. Somebody's released pets. They did talk about putting in Chinese grass carp to control the weeds at one time but there using a weed chopper type paddle wheeled boat and they killed a 12# lmb here. Our state record is 12#14oz.

This going greener stuff is making our water ways cleaner.

Me too I wake up at 4am check the temps and go back to bed.The Woodstove is still burning. Once we get some non freezing temps my bass fishing will start. No spawn yet it's too cold.

I had a 30" picketed attack my topwater popper and he gave me the second best fight of my life. The best fight of my life was a feisty 6#1oz bass. She toured the place with my popper in her mouth. She never surfaced till I pulled her up on the shore. Number one best fight. The 10# large mouth was too close to shore and too big to put up a fight it felt like a moving bucket of water. I played her the best I could. I never seen a freshwater bass this big never. My neighbor pulled up as I landed her and said holy cow Even my fishing buddy says it's the biggest bass he has ever seen I told no one I seen bigger nor lost bigger bass.

I like Glenn install the reel on the rod and checkout the balance of the setup together. Most of the time it's around 99% balanced. They do offer a balance kit with flat washers with a wood screw for the end of the handle.

The rest of our country once we get away from the northeast looks so awesome. I hate it here but I'm too old now.
