I purchased a brand new quantum Bill Dance model that was missing the friction knob inners from a discount house. He was speechless and did nothing. I contacted quantum and they hooked me up with all the parts to repair it. The reel was out of production but she crossed referenced the parts from a newer reel. They went out of there way to help me out. I wanted the bill dance reel for my fishing museum collection. I purchased a brand new quantum code red reel that the line winder guide didn't move side to side. I figured this was a demo counter reel. Someone cranked the snots out of it or they stole the gears for another reel and installed the worn out gears. Again Quantum came thru with the parts. I'm very frugal and buy stuff at any price just to see if it lasts. Now I'm testing there service departments too. I purchased a $26 Quantum Bill Dance reel at half price and they treated me like I bought a $200 reel. My hats off to the service at quantum. Bigbill I still have my first Shakespeare bait caster that still works today. I do take it out and use it every so often. I collected some older shakespeare bait casters that are well worn with no maintenance done. The bearings are worn out most of the time. Which raises the question does anyone clean and lube your reels? I do not knock plastic parts. I was dropping large trees on a windy day with a 100cc husky saw at the end of the day, last tree. The wind spun it around on the stump ripping the uncut hinge. Pinching my saw while I made like the six million dollar man at warp speed not knowing which way it's going down. The tree had my $1,000 saw in its cross hairs. It bounced 4' high on my saw. Smashing it. The magnesium cracked but the space age plastic didn't. I just needed a new engine block. Now they manufacture plastic guns right? Ever try to grind a reel clamp on an older bait caster rod to make a newer reel fit it? That is very hard plastic.

Take a look at "fish and save" for fly equipment and flies. On eBay there is an awesome fly tier in Vermont who ties the best looking bumble bees I have ever seen. He offers other flies too. I've never seen a bumble bee like his there awesome. Also look at the "fly shack" too. If down the road for a piece of fly history you need to pick up a bamboo six sided fly rod.

Well I removed the bad line, checked the eyes, the spool lip and the line roller it all looks great. I respooled it with Excalibur silver thread 4# test then I removed some line and it's clean from abrasions. I'll keep an eye on it. I need to look for that spool of yozuri 4# test.

I never had a problem with yo zuri line before I have many spools of it here the other new spools feel fine.

Throw different lures than your normal lures. I find that what's hot this year won't be hot next year. The bass we catch over and over learn our lures. I had the same thing in my smaller places. As soon as I tried different lures the bite was on again.

I continue to fish with what ever I have. Where like a baseball pitcher doing a change up. I don't get upset or let them see me sweat. I just go back to throwing my ritual of baits till one works. Nothing wrong with throwing something different than the norm too. To be the man you gotta have the plan.....

I purchased a how to learn to use a baitcaster reel VHS video too. It helped in setting the mag breaks. But I was casting the open Penn reels fishing decades ago before the bait casters. I can use a bait caster with only my educated thumb.

I prefer one piece rods lately. I been changing to one piece when I can. The backbone feels more solid to me with the one piece rods. I still have a mix of both.

This is what Dr. LOREN HILL said about bass seeing certain colors at times. And other times they can see all the colors. Due to certain light and water conditions.On a tough day of fishing color wise I throw fire tiger or firecraw. After my ritual of baits catching nothing. I purchase every color of crankbaits. I have all the bombers, the Norman fatboys, the Norman thin N. I admit I'm a color freak. I carry every color and most color combinations in my 9606 crankbait tackle box. I have chrome, gold, etc too. I will fish till I figure out what lure color, size and action catches fish. Blue is another hot color. They say under certain water conditions blue turns Brown. All I know is the rapala original floater F7 in blue does catch fish.

Last fall I purchased two big boxes of mister twister New and discounted plastics. I purchased lots of Sieberts outdoors jigs. This year it's more jigs, more New line, more inline spinners. Plus hooks and bobbers for the grandson. He begging to go fishing. He got his batman combo for Easter.

A burr on the spool I forgot about that. It's a brand new rod and reel they never been used but I'll inspect it and post what I find. The line is brand new and it feels like sand paper even down to the knot on the end of the spool.

It should read I should be bare footed so it will squeeze up between my toes.

I been thinking of putting a book of some kind together with pics so my grandson can read it so he will know what I have done in my life. I helped the engineers with my structural steel knowledge on the Disney tower of terror etc. I spec'd out the drive components and did work for brake testing.

I spooled up my new US REEL SUPER CASTER 180 spinning reel with new yozuri 4# test around November so I'd be all set with my ultra-light trout spinning outfit. I had some casting problems with it opening day last Saturday. I had it coiling up on the rod tip. Today I noticed the line is full of abrasions all the way to the end of the spool. I checked all my other rod setups I spoiled ahead of time and there fine. Even have that happen before with new line?

What ever happened to that teary eyed native American looking at the trash people left behind. We never see it on tv anymore. We need more save the enviroment commercials on tv. It's there enviroment too and they trash it. With worm containers, coffee cups, sandwich wrappers and McDonald's bags. The other day the ground was covered with last years plastic worms and fishing line. This was three feet from a special PVC pipe container for this trash. Are they that lazy? My son picked it all up. I just don't understand it too. Fact, Well he wasn't a native American he was Italian from Sicily.

I been using the 200 / 2000 & 300 / 3000 size spinning reels all the time. In purchasing many different brands of the affordable spinning reels the sizes do vary. I found some 300 / 3000 sized spinning reels were the 400 / 4000 sized spinning reels were close to the same size. I been using the 200 / 2000 sized reels on my 5'6" rods but found out recently I can cast a tad farther when I use it on a 6" or 6'6" rod. I'm leaning towards the smaller sized 200 / 2000 sized spinning reels. I just purchased a few US REEL SUPERCASTER spinning reels to see if the larger diameter spool casts farther out like they say it does. Time will tell. It's up against my favorite fin-nor and okuma spinning reels. I purchased a few of the US REEL SUPER CASTER baitcasters to also try soon too. Fishing from shore I want to reach the Lilly pads near the open water I can reach with a longer cast. I see fish tearing up the baitfish in the pads were I can't reach them. It will take me a month of watching this action till the fish will get closer we're I can reach it. So the farther I can cast is better sometimes.

I just purchased some 3lb test so I can cast farther with my UL setup with my 4'6" rod. I'm going with 5lb test on my 5'6" trout rod. Joe's fly blackgnat. Velvita cheese is better than using corn. The cheese catches the bigger trout.

I know everything that's manufactured in Europe is the best. I built 65,000lb 6 spindle, 8 spindle, 12 spindle and 16 spindle checkers for just about every car and brake manufacturer in the world. Every manufacturer in Europe and Japan too. One of the four checkers I build was for gunite, does Kelsey Hayes ring a bell? These four checkers were manufacturing brake drums for trailer trucks. They went in a rough casting and came out all turned and drilled ready to install on the truck. Each machine costs $750k and in the first three months running 24/7 the machines are paid for. Plus they had a 25 year life. No one in the world could match our manufacturing might. I wish we could focus on making a real sports car. We did once with Carol Shelby. Was any of the other engineers watching or learning? Now let's take the motorcycle industry. The Japanese focused on quality. There new ideas aren't new if we look back at our early motorcycle industry with the four inline cylinders. It's our invention that they focused in on and made it better. Then they said they could put six cylinders in a row. We said no way. Guess what Honda and Kawasaki did it. We even had four valves per cylinder back then. What were the engineers thinking with two valves per cylinder when we had four already. We went backwards instead of forwards. To this day we can't get the bugs out of a harley, we have Porsche designing the engines now. With many parts from Japan too. Our engineers can't do this? My point is we sit back fat dumb and happy about the little profits we do make when we should pour money into the R&D. We seem to follow more than lead. I'm sure we could build a better corvette too. I'm not fond of the changes that we're done to cheapen the engines. What has happened to the old Briggs Cunningham, Shelby race days what's changed since then. We have lost the drive for being the first in development. The motivation to be the best, the first. Now we can't come up with an electric car that needs no charging? Why are we still using fossil fuels and now ethanol for fuel when we should be pouring $$ into the R&D electric car.

The Rebel BIG CLAW crawfish crank dives to ten feet. I cast it out as far as I can in the open channel along side the weedline sweeping back the rod to make it dive to the bottom then by slowly reeling it keeping it on the bottom. Beaware of a last minute strike as it comes up to your rod too. These rebel smaller crawfish cranks are hot in rivers too. Just cast them around larger rocks that have pools and back washes behind them.

I purchase the blue glimmer and hot chartreuse skirts ten at a time. I been experimenting with going up one or two sizes on the gold Colorado blades too. I figure the larger blades will give more thump and vibration to the basses lateral line that's more info for tweaking a spinner bait down the road. Once you get them to work. You can play with one of them.

Purchase a Mann's 1/4ounce white spinnerbaits with gold Colorado blades. It will come with a blue glimmer skirt. Add a chartruese mister twister 4" split double tail grub as a trailer with a trailer hook. Add a shot of YUM shad scent and your good to go. For clear to slightly stained water this one will work. I prefer the Mann's classic 1/4ounce chartreuse spinnerbaits setup the same way with the chartruse MT 4" split double tail grub as the trailer with a trailer hook too. The mister twister 4" split double tail grub when used for any trailer gives the spinnerbaits more Bulk. You can setup smaller single Colorado blade spinnerbaits too by adding the blue glimmer or hot chartreuse skirt to a 1/8 or 3/16 ounce spinnerbaits too. You will need to cut the body shorter on the mister twister 4" split double tail grub if you can't find the 2" ones. The larger skirt and the 4" trailer gives the little spinner bait more Bulk size wise. Add a shot of bass scent. The trailer grub has got to be installed perfectly on the center line of the spinner bait so it runs exactly vertical. When we get it adjusted correctly the bass just tear it up again. You will learn how to readjust the spinnerbaits very quickly too. Presentation, I go slow just enough so the blade will thump. So the split double tail trailer looks life like, and it's really swimming. Remember to wear your polarized glasses and watch for action behind this lure.

Split shot rig. Been using it since the early 70's. I guess my cousin who taught me in the early 70's got it from field n stream or outdoor life. Here's how he taught me. You take a large sewing needle. Take a #2 snelled hook depending on the size of the plastic worm. You fold the leader on the hook in half. And enter the worm near the lump in its body. Push the needle through it and the loop of the leader will pop out too. Pull out the loop end through the worm then pull the hook end into the worms body. I put the split shot on the upper end of the leader. Put away the sewing needle in a safe place. I use this with 6" worms in black. A single large split shot works perfect for a slow fall. The 10" & 12" culprit worms I use the larger weedless hooks in the head of the worm. With the longer worms the fish go for the head. Presentation, With a boat we would move the boat till the weeds disappear anchor the boat and cast into the weeds. Watch the line for movement. Move it a few inches every few minutes. Sometimes it will get hit on the fall. It's slow fishing but very successful. Fishing around the small islands works great for the split shot rigs. Shore fishing I look for a drop off or the moving water in a channel and fish that backlash or dogs leg. Cast it out same as the process above move it slow. Note, that feeling when reeling it of hitting a bump from a log is the bass grabbing the tail of the worm. He's testing it to see what it feels like food or not. Move it slower on the next cast and be ready to set the hook. History, I was using worms when only creme worms were only available in natural and black colors at first. Then soon purple was offered too. Then the plastic worm manufacturing business exploded into a multi billion dollar business. It's the plastic lure age ever since. I always laugh when I read that it's something new to bass fishing with the "newly discovered split shot rig". I was using it around 40 years ago. That 6" creme worm still works today. Why is the black worm so successful. I shined my flash lite at the waters edge and seen freshwater eels inches from the shoreline in the dark. This is why the bass are feeding near the shoreline in the dark. Well one reason.

The mister twister top prop has been one of my favorite weedless topwater lures. It works awesome in any presentation. It comes with a mister twister 4" split double tail grub as a trailer. I prefer the same trailer on my spinnerbaits too. Presentations, slow steady reel just enough to turn the prop. A rip n pause, a 1-2-3 rip then pause. Add the trailer hook it comes with. A shot of YUM shad scent helps too. I prefer the fire tiger in the early mornings and evenings.

Should of shot all four. Fight crime shoot back. This can happen in any neighborhood. Just look at the home invasions. Go to your local shelter and adopt a dog it could deter home invasions. When my rottie barks my house shakes. When she shows her ivory it really makes them think twice.

I use the Renosky scattering shad baits. There discontinued but the company still has left overs. They have blue glimmer or chartreuse. I use the dying minnow presentation. I find these are really hot in the fall too. There graphics isn't that real looking but they work. Wal-Mart seems to carry the renosky stuff.
