I have a local gal to takes kids camping and fishing she's going to get most of the setups I have retired.

Doesn't the faster ratio with more ball bearings make them harder to crank? I purchased a good quality spinning reel that was a 6.3 ratio for my spinnerbaits rod setup. By the end of the trip I was burned out from cranking the 6.3 ratio reel. My point is, does the 6.3 spinning reel feel the same as the 6.3 bait caster to crank when they have an equal number of ball bearings?

I tried to jump start it. I hope they continue to post here. I enjoyed there added thoughts and different views. I hope not having there own section to post/talk doesn't drive them away. I was wondering if there getting ready for the spring bass fishing season. If there making any changes over last year. Come on ladies let's continue talking about bass fishing. I just purchased two new LEWS bait casting UL rods and two ultra lite zebco spin casting reels. I also purchased two LEWS fishing hats for my wife and her girl friend so when I take then fishing Thell look pretty impressive when were fishing. I may get them both LEWS sweat shirts too. I just picked up a Smith & Wesson model 28 Highway Patrolman in 357magnum with a 6" barrel with a 99+ bluing in excellent condition. It's also shot very little. It has the dull blue finish. It cost me $695. The s&w model 27 is the twin to the model 28 but the bluing on the model 27 is out standing with its polished bluing. Both are great revolvers in 357magnum. I find the larger S&W N frame revolvers to have an excellent power to weight ratio. There very well balanced. All this means an excellent handling revolver recoil wise too. I learned the higher prices don't always mean it's the best. Plus good looks isn't everything. Plus being over priced too. My new python in the 70's was out of time. I traded it in. At the same time I had two new non functioning colt 1911's too. My point is if your buying a used python check it out very closely. Btw, I found the 140gr JHP Speer bullet with 2400 gun powder to be the most accurate in my python 357 mag with the 6" barrel. (My reloads) I could make pin point shots at small rocks on the berm at 100 yards at will.

I purchased two more 6' LEWS speed stick spinning rods today. A medium action and a medium/heavy action rod. I figure a lighter line spinning setups. I want to add a lighter crankbait medium action setup with 4# or 6# test. And a smaller plastics setup using 6# test with the m/h action rod. For spinning reels it's the US REEL SUPER CASTER Spinning reels. I have a LEWS 6' heavy action rod with 8'test for spinnerbaits. Ok I moved up from the late 60's & 70's fishing rods I been using. They feel awesome. I now also have the better quality bait caster rods too. I'm going in the right direction now. God bless bigbill

WHITE MIKE, GUYS & GALS, KIDS, CHILDREN, BABIES, Please listen very carefully were never done its like buying toilet paper we can stop or go with out it. I have a ton of tackle and mainly fish from shore. When I find let's say a crankbait that's hot I purchase every color to cover every water and light condition. I buy enough for the fear of it being discontinued. Trust me purchasing hard and soft baits never ends. Inbetween I like to try and test newer baits too. If it works great as another fish catcher I purchase many of those in different colors and sizes sometimes too. Every time my rate of success is up I feel the need to purchase more baits. I'm happy, happy and want to try more baits. Also keep in mind when I have success with one bait I buy and give them to my family members too. This way they have success too. My youngest son has a nack for fishing. I show him a new lure and explain to him how to present it and he has success right away with every lure. I keep on telling him he should be fishing as a non boater to start off with but does he listen nope.

Hey CN looks like that CC lure has has a few teeth marks in it. It has to be a great fish catcher for sure the correct natural color.

My assortment of lures I throw most of the year. Topwater spooks, props etc. Bps topnocker Shallow cranks 1 to 3' divers since the weeds aren't up yet. Deeper cranks in the channel along side the weedline on both sides. Bomber, rebel craws etc. Inline spinners, mepps, strike king, joesfly etc. Spinnerbaits, 1/8 to 1/4oz white, or. Chartruse. With the mister twister split double tail grub as a trailer. Rapala f5 minnow in blue or black. Rapala 5" jointed minnow. In blue back chartruese belly. I get jiggy with it in the holes. Straight down. Off my low bridge in 10' of water. As spring warms up its the Carolina rig 1/8 oz. Senko, brush hogs, worms.

I had to be amberdexterious when I was working under dashboards as a young man. I'm as good with my left hand as I am with my right hand. I have left and right hand cranks. I find no problem using either hand drive. But with spinning reels I'm left handed.

Wait now what about using the spider rigs with multiple plastic minnows? The bait ball is on a smaller scale right think about it? I'll try it in my hottest spots and will talk about it.

It's the most I've ever spent on one lure. It's the most I ever spent on a unproven lure at one time.

I'm not welcome on one of the ct fisherman sites. One tonrnie guy said we only have up to 7# lb bass here. I posted My PB is 10# so far I lost bigger and seen bigger. I guess I insulted his ego. Soon after his buddies were catching between 9 to 11# bass. There here if we fish it right. I fish 24/7 from when the bass are moving till I get burned out. I'm up at 3:30am and fish till 8 or 9am. When the bass move from the shoreline to there haunts and cover at about 9am. By my third month I'm burned out. Unless the misses wants to go to Maine on vacation. The very first time I used senko's that following weekend she wanted to go away. The senko bite was hot that week. Bummer. But it was ok. I mainly fish from shore at the smaller places. I get to hammer one spot or gun and run to another close spot. There's a lot of great fishing in ct still. There's not that many bass fisherman like us here.

I have really good success with slow moving cranks. But the baitball isn't exactly the colors I use but I'll try them. Well see if the work per spawn in April. If it warms up by then.

Did anyone order your live target bait ball cranks? I just ordered a few of each of the different offerings. Looks like this bait ball thing just may take off?

I do find most of the other places I fish at aren't fished right. I see guys constantly throwing one spinnerbaits over and over with no success but a well soaked and drowned spinnerbaits. I know my bass are safe for sure. Most fisherman locally fish the same way. I see the same ones over and over all the time leave empty handed. They pick one lure and stay with it for hours. Sometimes I try to help them with a shot of scent. But there set in there ways. I have to laugh but it's sad that I know the bass are right in front of them looking for the correct lure and presentation. Either we fool the fish or the fish makes a fool out of us. Trust me when I see these guys I know our secret honey holes are safe. One hot spot I fish at I fish it 24/7 and I see new fisherman there try and never return. They tell me there's no fish there. I just say yup it's fished out the past few years. The next morning I'm popping the bass out like popcorn when no one is there and it's quiet.

You know on my way home from my doctor visit lastyear and not getting out too much being sick I still had my trout setup in the car from the springtime. It has 4# and the rod is 5' ultra lite. I passed by one of my hot spots. I put on a mepps comet minnow and caught a nice bass on 4# test. It felt so good to be out fishing again. It's beetle juice, beetle juice, beetle juice, it's a few weeks till Showtime well maybe 8 weeks.

I mainly use five rod setups from shore. My topwater and Carolina rig plastics setups are the heaviest. Then my spinnerbaits setup, my crankbait setup and my small light lure setup. These are spinning outfits. They range from 7'2", 7', 6'6" 6' & 5'6". I have more but narrowed it down to five. My new baitcasters pretty much the same range except no light tackle. I'm not talking about my 6 fly rod setups, my trout and great northern pike setups, my saltwater setups for bluefish and stripers, weakfish, flounder and blackfish. I probably own more tackle than I'll ever need but this season I'm going to try my hardest to wear out them all. Bill My goal someday is to fly fish for ever fish species we have here.

I would use Yo-Zuri hybrid or Excaliber silver thread copolymer.But why 4# test. My lighter lures run there best at 6# test. But 8# test has been my most successful so far. I remember a time when the lure manufacturers recommended what line test to use for the best lure action. I remember using Garcia river mist 4# test for trout in the old days. But when I first started bass fishing I lost more fish because of it

The sea robins have a chicken leg sized piece of meat in there backs that is very tasty. To tell the guys and gals here there ugly and have wings. Scary if you never seen them before.

Night fishing before dawn I had a bear near my car investigating it. I've heard bears hooting at night before in this area. There was a bear at a local school during the day too. I was carrying my 357magnum as i always do in the wilds. I think I spilled some bass scent on my cars bumper. Getting caught in a micro burst in a small boat when the rollers are twice the height of the sides of the boat wasn't scary. I wish I had life preservers for my three tackle boxes. Lots of $$ in them. My son had the fish finder on and was looking at big carp in the channel as we went out. It was looking like a great trip Until the black clouds rolled in. I just repaired the leak in the boat too.
