I setup one of my new unused bait casting rods with my first football jig in green pumpkin. I casted it down a rocky point off the corner of a low bridge. The first time using a jig I hopped it up to the shore slowly. Just a few hops and fish on. It's a new lure to me with a new presentation plus fishing a rocky point for the first time. This was about 15 years ago. I made it look easy the first time. This opened up my eyes on how successful a rocky point can be. After catching a bass on a jig I fan casted the point with a shallow crankbait. I casted parallel and straight down the point. I used every direction I could cast to work that point. I used all my different lures and plastics to catch bass off that point. My "point" is if you have a spot you know the bass are there that's the spot to try out new lures and presentations. I use a rattle on every jig too plus a scent. Fishing from shore I can get the water conditions wrong sometimes. This is why I carry the different colors. I just switch colors till one works. Plus my casts are so far the water conditions could be different out there. Don't get hung up on one color for too long. Change colors. I'm a color freak anyway. Peace gentlemen God bless, bill

For senko similair baits I use; BPS STIK O GAMBLER ACE MISTER TWISTER COMIDA These last longer than the senko's do. The senko is one senko per fish.

The BPS spring catalogue I just received has some good deals n it.

How big is this? I ask this because on the quantum bait caster there is a clip similair to this one that holds the spool bearing in on the brake side. I'll the reel is model DS 301 CX quantum Bill Dance. If it's too big you could possibly bend it and make it work.

I had a bow hunter tell us during supper that he made a 100yard head shot on a deer. When the Hunter left my cousin told me, a 100 yard head shot on a deer robin hood couldn't do that. We had some good laughs on that one during that bear hunting trip.

Isn't this ratio used for getting the lure back to the boat faster after a strike and a miss so you can get the lure back out there faster when $$ is on the line? I used a 6.3-1 reel all day and I was beat and tired that day. I'm out of shape and condition for the faster reels.

I use my bps xps topnocker in chartreuse in every water condition. With its very loud knock it seems to work all the time. I still believe that color matters. Since Dr Loren Hill proved that bass can see certain colors at times and other times seeing colors there not limited. Due to different water conditions with sunlite and the hues in the water there vision can be limited. Understanding this tells me they can smell my scent, hear the rattle but they can't see or find the lure due to the water and light conditions. When in doubt chartreuse is the color. My point is when it's a tough day put on a chartreuse colored lure.

I realized there are new older lews speed stick rods and Lews tournament speed stick rods for sale. Even the older new ones at a reduced cost are better quality rods than I been using. If your on a tight budget eBay is the place to look too. Remember to look everywhere for a decent deal.

I throw my ritual of baits starting off with a very long topwater to scent the water so the fish know who's your daddy. Then I switch lure types sizes and colors till I get action. I can't tell you the order I do it in or I would, you know what....try picking a few different lures in a pecking order. Trust me it beats casting over and over for nothing. Why do we have a tackle box full of different lures, sizes and colors and some cast one lure and catch nothing. The some go home a beaten tired fisherman. Think about it. Search for the pattern and presentation that's the fun of fishing. When the bite slows down change lure size first. If still nothing change color. Think about the different presentations too. Get on top of your game skill wise. Then it's a matter of how many fish will I catch today. Failure isn't an option. Stay motivated and focused. Make soft casts do not slam the water with your lure like it's a rock.

My exercise will come from swinging a fishing rod. I'm weak but still determined to fish harder. I'll put on my back support and knee supports and go out there like the six million dollar man. I have a date with a big hog that's my destiny.

Fishing? We're still fishing for ice cube fish here. It's tearing up my lines. The ice is still up to the shoreline solid. The bass coming out of there mud bed and winters sleep maybe late this year. I'm going trout fishing so I can feed my six adopted cats. I take in unwanted abandoned cats. I find little kittens when fishing. The oil man just came. Not much new fishing stuff this year. I thank God I had the money to fill the oil tank. I burn wood 100% but this year I let the furnace run a little due to my health. From what the oil man said many people aren't filling there oil tanks. The depression/recession is still here.

Took a ride to nearby haunts and the ice is still on with no end in sight. One tough winter for sure. I wonder if we had another winter kill. The deer are here looking for food every few days now.
