I grew up watching Gadaboutgaddis and then Jerry McKinnis these guys are the godfathers of fishing for sure. Jerry McKinnis actually make bass fishing what it is today... I miss watching him on TV. I wished they showed his old shows when he build his own boats out of plywood that lasted for one year. I watch Bill Dance, the InFisherman boys, Hank Parker, Charlie Moore (sometimes when tv is boring) most of the time i watch these guys often. Woo Daves is very educational too in his BPS video's. But i also put together a libruary of dvd & VHS video's of bill dance, infisherman, KVD ect to watch on my own when io want too like now to get motivated. Plus read here to review my lures and presentations to keep the edge sharp sort of speak. I like the how to video's too. But the key thing to learningfrom any video or tv show is to listen to them and watch very carefully on what they do too. During the season hunting and fishing shows are shown while were all out fishing and hunting ever think about that?? We actually miss most of the shows. I don't know why there not shown at night so we all can watch them?

I'm going to have cardboard boxes of all my favorite lures before there discontinued and get harder to purchase. I'm stocking up on bomber cranks, rebel's, norman lures ect. I don't stop buying them till the box is full. I spent $200 this month alone and probably a total of $500 by opening day comes. They i stop buying and start fishing non stop. (retired). I'm hoping to get a small row boat so i can get into the smaller places to fish here in CT.

I constantly throw the Rebel BIG Claw crankbait that dives up to 10ft. in black back green body with a wisk of chartruece. At some places i never seen the crawfish but i'm sure they are there because this lure works most of the time.

Come on fishermen & fisherwomen's its the number 1 lure of all time a 6'' long black creme plastic worm split shot rigged will land us many bass with a #4 hook.

When i first got into bass fishing I purchased a Combo-C-Lector that we put the probe in the water and it tells us what colors to use. I found it to be very successful. Its so good that KVD has one on his boat for tough days.... My hottest crankbait colors are; For normal clear water conditions to slightly stained water. Blue/white (minnow color, looks brown to the fish i been told) Redcrawdad (red) Greencraw (dark green) Browncraw (brown) Silver Shad (natural bait color) For stained to muddy water conditions; Fire craw (bright fire tiger) Fire tiger Chartruece For spinnerbaits; White/blue skirt w/ mr twister trailer or Chatruece skirt w/mr twister trailer From shore i prefer the 1/8oz spinnerbaits.

Ever think about this or plan for it yet? What can we really do about it anyway. "maybe or goinna happen or what will happen are big guesses?" I don't dwell on it i figure everyday i life is a blessing now anyway. I'm stocking up on all fishing supplies figuring if we need food i can supply the fish. I have a water shed nearby thats unfished. We can all supply fish if need be. I'm buying up crankbaits & plastics mainly. Thats all i'm going to say about that.

When i get up to go fishing I get dressed exactly the sameway before every trip. I walk up to my fishing spot and put everything down the same exact way. Once i'm in the zone or zoned out its just me and the fish. My confidence is 200% in everything i'm doing. I pay attention to my lures and presentations. Its not luck in fishing, luck is at the casino, its skill in fishing and that means success. I would suggest reading all the tips here, watchy every fishing show ande listen to what they say plus watch what there doing too. Get every piece and bit of knowledge you can. I have a libruary of fishing dvd's and VHS tapes too. I watch these over and over all winter to refresh. I also read my notes i make all year too. I have to also have my fishing hat and my polorized glasses too. If i don't have them the trip is a bust.

Ok i worm fished when the only thing we had was the creme plastic worms. We would use the split shot rig into the submerged weeds. We used a large sewing needle to thread the snelled #2 hook into the lump area on the plastic worm. The color at that time was "black" and size 6". If we look at the shoreline at night right up against the waters edge we will see freshwater eels in a dark brown/black color.

Guys these are monster plastic life like frogs they come in all sizes from tadpoles to bass size (large) and a super sized one for muskie/pike. I have no clue how to use it but maybe there is a time of day to use it too? I fish either really early am from 3:30am to 9am or when the shore bite shuts down. Or early evening from 5:30pm till 9pm/10pm or when the bugs biting send me home. Maybe thats the key to success with these. They really look good. Go to; www.bogbaits.com/ I just went to the bogbait site and ordered the tadploes, a muskie sized frog and some frog scent to try out too. I'll hammer this frog bait when i start hearing the real frogs croaking. There has to be a time to use it. I have also noticed too when the smaller bass are striking and the hookups are fish after fish then all of a sudden the bite slows down when the bigger bass come closer to see what the smaller fish are doing but they won't strike the smaller lures. This is when i like to upsize my lures in the same color and style then i get into the bigger fish. One day i had a 6lber by the lip and i watched a bigger bass swim by me. I know there are bigger bass there because i have seen them. Another day i tried a 7 1/4'' BPS stick o worm. Of course this new to me bait plus i didn't have a bigger hook for it when the bigger bass grabbed it. I said one hail mary as i tried to set the smaller hook and watched it spit my worm out as it swam away. Now i carry the larger hooks for the bigger plastics. I'm so close to a new state record yet so far away yet. In the past i have purchased just about every fishing lure known to man. Sooner or later they all seem to work on a slow day. To this day I always put on my slower fish catching lures just to see if they still catch fish.

My reloads are good for anything from targets to ccw carry. Now as far as shelf life i'm shooting my 45acp ammo i reloaded back in 1977 today and it all goes bang too. I have military surplus ammo from 1937 that all goes bang too. I keep all my ammo in 50cal ammo sealed cans so there dry. I keep my primers in 50cal ammo cans too. I reload all my ammo besides buying new ammo when its on sale and clearance too. Back when the 45acp fmj ammo was $6.72 a box of 50rds i stocked up on it. Today the same ammo is $20 a box of 50rds.

Ditto on the bushnell banner scopes. They do offer a bushnell banner with the BDC (bullet drop compisation). You can adjust it out to 500yds with no error. I have two older bushnell scopes with this feature that i purchased back in '94. One is on my rem 700 in 338win mag. and its holding up to this day its still like new. I like having the BDC feature just incase i see that trophy of a lifetime at a farther distance i can still make that shot accurately. The banner scope still comes with the BDC at an affordable price. I'd like to get one for my sons 30-06 too. I do find my bushnell scopes to be clearer in low light conditions too. I still can see what i'm shooting long after the sun goes down. Bill

I would like to have 10,000rds of every caliber we shoot inhouse someday. When the family goes shootin we blow off 500rds of every caliber on a good day. The ammo doesn't last long here. I reload plus i purchase ammo on sale and clearance too. I just upgraded to the progressive reloading presses too. It speeds up the reloading.

I just shot my new Smith & Wesson model 58 with 4'' barrel in 41mag in nickel finish on sale for $699 @ my local GS. The 41mag round is such a sweet shooting round in the N Frame smith i like it. Power wise its close to the 44mag. The guys who own both the 41mag and the 44mag tell me when huting with either one they do not see any killing power difference between the two. These are my very first N Frame S&W's too they seem to be really balanced good. I may pick up a new S&W model 29 in 44mag next. Being a large guy i can CCW carry any gun up to 10'' barrels and you'll never see it on me. I shoulder holstered the 7 1/2'' barreled 44mag's for eons. As i get older now i like to keep it smaller now.

The german 98k in 8mm mauser wasn't what i would call a collectable by any means. I'm a C&R collector too. I collect the surplus military guns and the older modern guns. The guns i put together as sporters are mainly from parts I refuse to use a perfect collectable for a sporter. Right now my 7,62 / 308 barreled receiver with the 7,62x39 chamber adapter went well. Its ready for the stock to be fitted. I'm going to make it look like a swedish m94 size wise. I also have a 7mm mauser carbine project in a small ring receiver '95 and a 7mm mauser project in a large ring 98 receiver too. I just picked up a Czech VZ24 in 7mm mauser in very poor condition for the build. I need a replacement stock and the barrel is also shot out and i got a 18'' surplus barrel cheap with a great bore. If anyone wants a semi auto rifle in 223 the russian izmash saiga is very affordable like around $350 if you don't have the $$ for an AR15. Just check the front sight to make sure its not canted. These have the russian ak/akm quality thats battle field proven. My saiga's with 16'' barrels will shoot 1 1/2'' groups at 100yds using south african 308 ball surplus ammo benchrested. I haven't benchrested the 223 saiga's yet. I don't drop big dollars on guns too as well as fishing equipment. I save were i can.

I seen Hank Parker cleaning house on that lake in NH catching smallies on a Mann's baby 1 in crawdad brown. These work so good i stock them in my tackle room. 1. manns baby 1 in crawdad brown 2. rapala 2'' orginal floater in blue/white 3. mepps #3 anglia silver blade/ grey tail 4. mepps #3 anglia gold blade / brown tail

Your right to exercise because the older i get the weaker i'm becomming. I need to workout my body soon. I'm disabled so my fishing time is limited. Sometimes i can fish for 15 to 30 minutes before the pain starts and sometimes i last for an hour or two. I just enjoy being out there casting. But the worst thing to me is the higher ratio reels. By the end of my fishing trip my arms are wornout from cranking the faster reels. I have the spinning reels with 10 ball bearings which are tight at first. I use these on my worm rods first to break them in before going to the spinnerbait rods. I'm starting to use the 3 bearing reels more do to the arthritis too.

I like to be very very stealthy when i'm fishing. One guy who i meet at my spots talks out loud and i think its just to scare the fish away.

Also i did test a Color C Lector an older one a few years back. All i can add is color matters too sometimes. Match your colors to the bottom is one way, Bright colors in stained/muddy waters fished slower and natural colors on clearer water conditions fished faster. The 2'' rapala orginal minnow is a killer bait at first light.

Again in the past, well a few years back here our Glen told me how to set up and use spinnerbaits. From shore i found it hard to catch fish with them until i set them up properly. I took the 1/8oz Hank Parker Classic spinnerbait white with a single gold blade and added a mister twister split double tail 4'' white trailer. I trimmed the main body till it went on the hook perfectly. I even added a trailer hook too. On my chartruece 1/8oz spinnerbaits i use the 4'' MT split double tails in chartruece of course. The split double tail grub used as a trailer teases the fish even more. Without it i don't catch fish. I also shoot my spinnerbaits with a shot of yum scent too. Food for thought........ The presentation for that moment is the key for success; I try slow reeling it just below the surface were i can see it. After fan casting it many times I slow up even slower so the spinnerbait will run below the sight line were we can't see it but the fish can. I find that sometimes the fish won't strike above that sight line were we can see them. I also throw them in every direction possible too even parallel with the shore line when i can.

Good video thanks. I did notice in feeding the live small frogs to the bass the fish did take there time in striking it. The frog would sit still as it sunk a little in the water for a while then the bass would explode on it. I'll try a moving presentation first while adjusting my speeds. Then i may still fish it or jerk and pause it too. I can see why some caught nothing even the live frogs were hard to watchy because of the slowed action.

I purchased some bogbait frogs and would like to know how to use them?? We were tossing small live frogs in the water once and watched a LMB strike it as the frog would freeze still in the water. Should i let the big Bog Bait frog sit still?

Because of losing the bigger bass i bumped up my rod size for topwater baits plus the heavier line. I did this for my larger cranks and smaller cranks too. My smaller minnowbaits / cranks are on a 5'5'' rod now. I know with the baits that run submerged a heavier line will affect the action and depth they will run at but i don't tell my buddies that. My success in the past proves that one rod setup won't do it all if were running a wide assortment of lures and depths.

I don't have any really expensive desires for reels and rods. My baitcasters most of them cost me between $12 to $60 on sale and to me they work ok for now. If anyone remembers me from the old days here i started out bass fishing with the cheap trout fishing tackle and the bass tore it all up in less than a week. Even the cheap $8 spinning reels broke too. When i lost a 3lber oneday with my cheap reels and line it was time to upgrade. I guess one nice baitcaster setup would be ok....I'm not sure which one??? My buddy's who i fish from shore with laugh at me all the time because i carry 5 different rod setups with me. I won't tell them why. If they read the lure package most lures use a different weight line to get the best action out of that one lure. Plus there are heavy lures and light lures too. It really gives me an edge to switch setups. They can laugh but the real proof is whats on the end of my line.

Before my older brother passed away he always said keep going and sooner or later the fish will turn on. We fished from shore mainly and he was right. I seen him find a honey hole in saltwater for stripers and came home with two 60'' stripers from shore. He never told anyone but i knew where he was fishing. One eveninmg while bass fishing with a crowd of fisherman all around me I was catching bass after bass when no one else caught nothing. I looked up and said to him to stop it these people are going to throw me in the water..... its true. Don't under estimate a mepps inline with a front approaching. And if your having success with a #3 mepps and thye bite slows down up size to a number #4 or #5. The bigger fish will come in to see what the smaller fish are up to but won't hit the smaller sized baits. My tackle boxes have the older go-to proven baits as well as the newer baits too.
