  3. BTW Bassin Blvd, while you had your mess I had my own. For an unknown reason, my house started smelling like a combination of cat pizz, and dead rodent about 3-4 weeks ago. Mostly noticed it when I would leave and come back later after some fresh air. About the same day of your post my nephew stopped up to go thru my tackle bags. That's when I found the smell. Crawfish scent all over my hardwood floor. And it only effervesced even worse when I i hit it with soap and water. I was checking my shoes and everything for days.
  4. I am very content with mine. I haven't found anyone here to really speak ill of them, but it has been suggested that they may be too slow for some current cranking techniques. Others have also stated that they don't get the distance they would like with the light (less than 3/8oz.) baits. I guess the reasoning is that the weight of the extra line capacity impedes the distance somewhat. I tend to use spinning gear for light baits so this is not an issue for me. Everything that I toss with the winch is 3/8oz.+ so that has not been a problem either. The centrifugal brakes has been a pros/cons debate, but imo, work famously.
  5. We are just doing our part for the economy. I was in Iowa once for a week. First night I ordered a pitcher for myself at happy hour, spent an hour drinking it, just to find out I was cut off. My gulper wasn't even damp yet. Long week!
  6. Here's some better pics:
  7. Thanks for the heads up Raul. I am gonna get a pic up of some of these baits, so there is an idea of what I have here. Brian
  8. "Grab your ankles" comes to mind.
  9. Thanks for the ideas guys. I am familiar with firearms do's and don'ts, but old baits in need of care is out of my realm. I think, as acouple have suggested, I will sit on them until I find the correct way of taking care of the baits. Is anyone here heading for Kenlake in April, that might be interested in putting an eyeball on these baits?

  11. Just remember, we are all laughing with you, not at you! ;D ;D
  12. Guys, I inherited a couple of tackle boxes from the local gunsmith widow I helped move this weekend. These boxes were chock full of Wooden baits that as far as I can tell, go back to the 40's-50's. Problem is alot of them have mildew build up that I want to remove, and this is not my forte. Want to get it done without harming what's left of the finishes. Any ideas? Thanks.
  13. Because they are stereotyped just like a lot of other fields. Every time we have a structure fire, I am inevitablely asked at least once if we saved the basement. It's just poking a little fun.
  14. Welcome to BR! 8-)
  15. Keep in mind the northern zone is c&r only until the 3rd week in June. The boundary for the northern zone roughly follows state highway 64. JM Richardson is correct, get a copy of the regs. Even if you don't get a license, they are still readily available to you wherever licenses are sold. You still have the same rules as anybody else, so read up and have fun fishing.
  16. Welcome to the forum, always nice to see other Wisconsinites pitchin' their hat in the ring. 8-)

  20. Cool, glad you had a chance to meet one of your favorites. 8-)
  21. For the cost of a reasonably priced spinner bait, it can fall apart after a few good fish. I'll spend $15 on 3 spinners for a good day of fishing anytime. I don't assume for a minute that a spinner bait will last as long as a same price hard bait, no matter what you pay for it, if it does, all the better. A good fight is gonna reek havoc on any spinner bait, it don't matter what material it's made of. Sure you might get more mileage out of better components, but I'll take that good fight on a cheap spinner that has the right kind of blade and skirt color any day of the week. But 10-15 dollars for a spinner is, IMO, just ridiculous.
  22. Well I would say it was a great day. You made a new friend, looks like it was a nice day, and you were on water. It don't get any better than that. That's one for the win column. ff15
