Garmin and Navionics Map Cards
gar It has been brought to my attention that Garmin is NOT compatible with Navionics Hot Maps, I was considering one of thier 500 series units when the salesmen informed me of this. I would've reconsidered but their Inland Lakes version of Navi's Hot Maps for my region lacked most of the places I fish and hardly had any RI waters. If your serious about the Navi Hot Maps then you'll need to look into another finder/plotter. Im going with Birds 587ci Combo for my Kayak this spring

Tip-up backing line
How much line do you put on the spool? I plan on fishing mainly for crappie, but may get into some trout as well. Also, do you add a leader on to the end of the line? If so, how long? Thanks. Sorry took so long to reply, I dont use leaders, but I fish with alot of guys who do, when the bites on I hook up as much as they do and when its a slow day, it still about the same. I load my spools right up, there can be alot of waste but you can always tie the 2 lines if your comfortable with a uni or albright. Mason will last for years, I get several seasons out of it before reloading.

Rhode Island Ice Fishermen Unite
Im looking RI'ers into the hard water for some serious Ice Fishing. I up early, often on the ice before sunrise, first light is best. I have my own gear I dont need anyone to bait the hook, remove the fish or chop my holes. Ready and rigged, complete with Gas Auger, heck no I dont chop.

Tip-up backing line
Mason Tip-up Braided Ice Fishing Line, most likely the best stuff out there, theres a wax type plastic coating put on the line to prevent freeze ups, its easy to manage and when your tuggin that biggen outta the hole you wont need to worry bout tangles when spooling back up. Just like a baitcaster I use 50lb, I dont do any backing on the spools, you use more but no worries. I've been ice fishing for over 25years or better and still use and only use Mason.

benefits of having a custom rod built
George Blancus builds the rods while Larry Mitchell does the foot work for him. I currently own 3, and will go for more, I send him the reels to be used and we go over every detail on the phone step by step. George builds a very nice rod, and for me the all black on black is killer. And the Rainshadow RX8+ is an awsome blank.

Good small fishing boat?
jon boats are fine, pound your local craigslist, also RI and CT, they're a dime a dozen. Great Canadian has a canoe that'll be plentry for you and your boy and when your running those solo trips, you'll be able to stand and fish, or just stretch out if you have to. Be very careful modifing a jb tho, I dont recommend decking a 10 or hardly a 12 for that matter.

Bass Fishing Yak
Nice looking rigs here. I opted out the tin can this year, although I did still register it so I can take my daughter out just in case she dont like the kayak. As soon as we the weather breaks its rigging time. Well done JF as always, wondering how you like that Freedom compared to your PBG, also what kind of bag is that infront of you in the Freedom?

Bass Fishing Yak
take this into consideration with the Hobie PA, great rig no doubt, but....if your planning on slipping into the shallows, fish weedy and grassy areas, like to skip over logs and such, well good luck, that pedal power hangs down below the kayak and can and will get hung up on things. Yea sure you can pull the unit up and plug it but whats the use. I just bought a Winderness Systems Ride 135 kayak at a local dealer have a HUGE sale. Now Richmond VA isnt that far, you do an overniter trip to RI, and with gas and hotel still save a couple hundered bux even more, easy. Now I dont know about you but a couple hundred bux will help in rigging a kayak with some rod holders a paddle and a couple other goodies.

Fellow Northeast fishermen...
H-N-H, I like the mini slammer, but I do think Im going to pick up some of the BBZ's and Rising Son's. I like to throw the SB's alot but really dont feel as tho I need to decicate rod for them, thats one reason I stay with the smaller ones.

Fellow Northeast fishermen...
Hey Tin, my Tru Tungsten 4" created quite a stir on Quidy, and for only 20bux its not bad. The new 5" in baby bass I think may be a killer at Wordens, My MS Mini Slammers were getting slammed but just couldnt hook up. BTW, you shud head down to QLB and buy a kayak, they're liquidating eveything, got mine for half price.

Good small fishing boat?
the weights on most 10s are low, I've fished 2 adults in it before, but like i said you have know your limits. Fishing it with my daughter has never been an issue at all, but I think mines is about the same maybe like 275.

Good small fishing boat?
I have a 10ft Sears jon boat, 1032. its perfect for my daughter and myself, it will fish 2 adults, but as with any smaller craft it requires care. It's a loaded little boat, two 360* swivel seats, MinnKota 55lbs thrust TM, and a Sears HD Marine battery. I can slip it into the back of my truck with ease, and you very well may be able to slide into the back of your van. I did notice your in MA and your not very far, if your still looking for a 10ftr in the spring we'll keep in touch as she may be for sale. As a package! Im sure too just got burried in this white crap.
